Hi I’m Tawnie- welcome to my channel! This is a place for everyone no matter your skill or experience level. I am passionate about sharing with others what I have learned in finding freedom in my art and letting go of control. Come join the fun! You can also follow me on Instagram @tawniejeannestudios
The basics of how to get started with watercolor, the supplies, & building confidence. #watercolor
Watercolor can be very intimidating to a lot of people - I understand! I have been there myself. It takes time and practice to work with watercolors but that doesn't need to stop you from playing around with them and observing it for the beautiful medium that it is. This video shows the supplies you need, how to get started, two basic techniques and two fun techniques as well. The goal of this video is to give you the confidence to grab a cheap palette online or from an arts and crafts store and just PLAY. You do not need to paint a scene or an object to have fun and start learning and appreciating watercolor. Just take it one step at a time and enjoy the process :)
All of the supplies I used in the video are in my Amazon storefront and the link for that is on my home page. I do not have the actual palette linked because I got a very cheap palette from Michael's arts and crafts store (it is their house brand "Artist's Loft") and it's not anything special. I used this palette to show you that you can pick up $5 watercolor set from anywhere and use it to learn a lot and to start having FUN with watercolor.
I hope you enjoy this video and I hope you play and have fun with watercolors whether it's your first time or it's just been awhile :)
If you have any questions feel free to leave a comment or you can DM me on my instagram where I'm most likely to respond quickly :) The link to my instagram is also on my homepage. I hope to see you over there as well.

The "Ugly" Sketchbook Supplies
Переглядів 74521 день тому
This is a video showing all of my favorite supplies that you have seen me use in my "ugly" sketchbook series. If you haven't seen it you can check it out on my Instagram (tawniejeannestudios). I'd love to see you over there! These materials are also just my favorite for sketching and art in general and are a great place if you're wondering what to buy to get started. I'm not saying to buy all o...
Thanks for the amazing inspiration and yes I’ve only just started my “ugly” sketchbook but I am having so much fun with it already ❤
Beautiful!
Thank you! <3
500 cigarette frog

@@TawnieJeanneStudios ur most welcome 🙌🏽🫶
You want that I say; it’s not a ugly book 😉
This is extremely helpful! Thank you
I’m so glad! Thanks 😊
Love this channel. 🌸
Thank you so much! 🙏🏼
Absolutely. I have a friend with early Dementia. She loves to copy your patterns. A sunny 🧡 from South Africa.
I actually find mixed-medium "easier", I can blend the effects of pencil, pastel, watercolor, and anything else to be anything I want!
Woaah
I feel calm now.
Who said it's ugly 🥲🥲🥲it is wooa
this is such a cozy vibe
This is so underrated
Subbing for this
Que lindo ❤❤❤
OMG THIS IS BREATHTAKING- HOW DOES THIS HAVE 30 LIKES??
I started doing that without having a word for it. Just started using my oil pastels I’m not familiar with and giving myself permission to be “bad” at it. It’s the doing not the outcome in art
It's really powerful!
Where can I get a schetchbook like that? I've been looking for these type of schebooks.
I had it custom made but I will be selling some on my website pretty soon :) I'll post about it on my Instagram when they are available.
Bro she good 🥲
hey thanks! :)
What tape are you using ❤❤❤❤?
I am using scotch delicate surface tape :) I have all the supplies in my Amazon storefront, too - I hope that helps!
Woow!!
Wow, you're so talented! Underrated!!
Thank you so much! :) I appreciate this

Love the pops of pink
I love it
It looks good 👁👄👁
Thank you!
I take photos when I traditionally draw because if I mess up I have the art before I messed up so I can just finish it digitally
hi 👋
I
Love
It!
😅
Thank you so much for this video. I love my ugly sketch book. I missed your live. Hopefully, I'll see the notification for the next one. Thank you for the inspiration!! 🎉
I'm so glad you enjoyed it thank you for watching! Sorry you missed the live! I am thinking of doing them bi-weekly! So hopefully next week! So glad you have started your ugly sketchbook :)
That frog pen holder is the best
Pablo Picasso..??
I'm not sure if he used found objects haha but I can see that vibe too! Thanks :)
Pixies ❤
Thank you for this!! Just watched your Instagram live too. Thank YOU!!
Of course! Thank you so much for watching :)
Beautiful
Glad I found this! I bought a new sketchbook hoping to draw something but too exhausted to think of something!
Thank you for sharing!
My pleasure! Thank you for watching :)
Cool drawing ❤
This is amazing might start doing it myself as well! Do you know the name of the song by the way?
I've wanted to make art my whole life. Recently I've been busier than ever before, but I keep finding reminders here and there about what I really want to work for. Thank you for sharing this, it was a very peaceful reminder of what I'm working towards ☺️
Thank you for sharing! I'm so glad you feel encouraged :)
Nice. (Btw your non dominant hand drawing is IMPRESSIVE!!)
Haha thanks so much!
Love the series! Inspired me to get drawing and water colours. Thanks for the materials!
I'm so glad! Thanks so much for watching. I hope you have so much fun!
I find this tip seriously very useful. Whenever I find myself holding my pencil too tight or slouching too close or not enjoying the process, I take a moment, hold my pencil further from the tip/in a different, looser grip, straighten my back, and I look down at the paper, almost condescendingly(??), and think "Chaos." Then I laugh a little and embrace it. Taking breaks also helps. Trying out harder-to-control materials is super therapeutic too. I love drawing in pen or using inks and watercolours, and I especially love punk expressionism. (I don't know how else to describe it. Just sticking whatever the heck multimedia and technically-not-art-supplies on however and wherever you like, deciding on the way jf you want to try to make it look good-ish or not.)
So effortless 😢😢😢
Vaya! Al fin encuentro un short en el que sí me gusta la canción que le acompaña. Like por eso!
i think i know what the tree behind the colors means, he might have had a stained glass window he always looked out of
Wow, the English pronouciation is so weird of his name
