Sanding Shop Cart
In this video I build a self-contained sanding cart for my workshop. I was tired of trying to find my sanding supplies when I needed them. I’m still not in my dream shop so I wanted to make life easier and this did just that. The cart is made from supplies I had laying around the shop and a couple pieces of CDX plywood and tempered hardboard. I love the swinging arm that holds my vacuum hose and the cord for my sander. The vacuum has a timed shutoff so it runs a few extra seconds after the sander is turned off. That helps clear out the hose. The little side shelf works great for my sandpaper tote. The sandpaper is all sorted and housed in the tote. This cart holds all my portable sanders and keeps everything organized. Thanks for watching.

In this video I build a quick little tote for my wife. It was designed to hold a curing iron, hair dryer and other accessories. The entire project is built from reclaimed solid maple pallet wood. I used my homemade coffee stain to give it that nice rich brown color and then finished it off with a few coats of spar varnish. At the end of the video is a sneak peak of the new Trophy Husband Woodwo...

      I just got a "Pallet Buster" for taking apart the pallets and found it harder to use than just cutting the nails between the stringers and the slats. I am going to try it again on my next batch of pallets but I was not impressed yet. I hope my next attempt is more fruitful.

      @@trophyhusbandwoodworks643 I'm not sure what a pallet buster is. I was thinking a pry bar which come in various lengths and shapes. Another option to use a pallet jack but insert a piece of wood or metal that parallels the pallet jack to prevent the wheels from dropping through the bottom and instead press against the metal bars you might be able to use the pressure of the jack to push it apart. You may need to try different wheel locations to get an even force. It might be worth a try.

      Me too. I started doing it that way, and have done it that way for years. I haven't come up with a good project to use the centers for yet so I just find other people who want them and don't mind the nails embedded. I just use the slats on the top and bottom. My current source gets me nice maple pallets that are usually single use so they are really nice and also clean. I get some beautiful wood out of them. I just got a "Pallet Buster" tool yesterday and tried it on a pallet I had laying around. It was more work than the Sawzall and broke 2 of the 3 boards I tried it on. I'll try it again on the next batch of pallets to get a better sense of how it works. Thanks for watching.

  • @stadleroux
    @stadleroux 2 роки тому

    Your pallets, and therefore also the nails you're pulling, are pretty new, so you shouldn't have this problem, but a claw hammer will often break off the head on at least one side, if not both, of an older, rusted nail, in which case the 'V' in the hammer's claw won't have anything to hold onto to pull the nail. That's when a pair of pincer pliers comes in really handy to pull the nail, since it grips onto the shaft and doesn't really need the head of the nail, and the farther you lever it over while pulling, the stronger it grips! Also, for those who don't have a compressor to connect to an Air Locker - funny, the only air locker I've heard of before watching this video was the kind you'd find in a 4X4's diff! - you might want to consider one of Spring Tools' wonderful little nail setters and/or hole punches. They'd also save you a lot of time because they eliminate the need for a hammer and you only have one tool to concentrate on. They have quite a variety of different ones for different purposes that can be bought in sets or individually, so check them out!

      I haven't seen any....but I also haven't been looking. You may be able to find one that is battery powered??? It works like a nail gun only without the nails. There is a piston that pops down and hits the nails out. There may be something that isn't run with compressed air but I haven't seen any yet.
