We’ve Made Science an Idol at the Expense of Common Sense (+ Thoughts on the Red 3 Ban)
Science is a beautiful thing. God created it. BUT in many circumstances we obsess over the science, at the expense of using our common sense to make decisions for the health of our families. Listening to eight podcasts, reading a book or two, and pulling all the research articles for any given health matter simply isn’t realistic for most of us. If you are a hobbyist data digger, like myself, then by all means go for it! But in most circumstances we need to lean more heavily into the discernment of the Holy Spirit and the reality of common sense.
When Jesus left His disciples to go be with the Father, He promised us the greatest helper of all… the Holy Spirit! May we recognize the power of knowledge that the Holy Spirit offers us and may we also lean into the gut instincts that God gave us as well.
In this episode we discuss finding the right approach to making health decisions for your family and we also dive into the recent red dye 3 ban. I share an overview of the reason for the recent ban and my thoughts on the matter.

    If God is all good, all powerful, all knowing and all good, why did the holocaust happen? Why do children have cancer? Because his creations, children, broke a rule? Because we are sinful? Would you let your children suffer their entire lives without helping them? Pretty sure that is child abuse and neglect. If we must suffer for our whole lives to “earn” happiness and peace over ancestral blame than that “god” is narcissistic, satanistic and nothing close to being good or someone to worship. I’d believe in Roman Gods, Greek Gods who were vengeful, mean, human like. I dont believe in a “good” god that watches children suffer while demanding we beg

    For the young lady talking about the appliance boom, go tour Glenshien Manor just north of Duluth. It was instrumental, but not a fix in the early 1900s. They still relied on closets with windows to air out their clothing. It was more the washing machines in the 1950s. Dryers weren’t much of anything until then either. Wish I didn’t live with antiquated machines in the 60s, but I remember all too well. Also, there was an abundance of dresses or clothes. Money was used to eat and take care of the daily life. Go for the late 40s for the rich and 50s and 60s for most others.

    My Aunt was born 1900 and My Grandma was 1902. My Aunt had 3 bachelors and 2 master’s degrees. She was absolutely amazing! My Grandma took care of everything and was in nursing school until she became sick with tuberculosis. Between my Aunt and Grandma they ran everything. My Aunt took care of my Grandma when she was at the sanitariums and help with everything. Remember, during the dust bowl era there was none stop cleaning from the likes of dust and dirt that blew in through the cracks. Mom said it was several times a day they had to go from window sill to window sill with the the piles that looked looked like pouring salt from Morton Box on the floors. All of them including my Mom had to wash clothes with a tube and wringer close to the well. Think of this, people just did what they could and lived the best lives they could live. It all meant extremely hard and none stop work every single day of their lives. My Grandpytook care of the farm and livestock and upkeep with days lasting into mornings. People now haven’t the stamina or patience or complete resolute to do anything like that did at the turn of the 20th century. Especially families taking care of families that aren’t even their own. Forming cooperative relationships with others to achieve goals. What they had then and their passion for life compared to now, I don’t think many people could ever make it if we went without.

    You missed the decade… it was the 60’s under LBJ that set American government towards large government liberalism. People were tired of that in the 70’s which is why they elected Nixon. Watergate hurt conservative sentiment overall but Jimmy Carter (who was largely a reactionary electorate) set that record straight when they saw the other side of the coin. The 70’s were some of the worst times in much of urban America because of the rampant liberal corruption and rural America turned inward to itself.

    Where do you get this idea from. It depends on the person, just because the person is getting a message doesn't mean they are tuning out the Holy Spirit. We can ALWAYS walk with God and do things that we need to do, even self care and time to reflect on ourselves to bring ourselves back to where we need to be. Everyone is different. You want to go for a run to think or you want to sit and read or make food for your family? It all depends on the person an THEIR PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD.

    • @MovedbyHim
      @MovedbyHim 7 місяців тому

      I entirely agree that there are lots of ways to experience the fullness of God. If we recognize the presence of the Holy Spirit with us at all times, lots of things (like going for a run, taking care of your body, etc.) can become a form of worship! I just think that the secular self-love/self-care movement is entirely devoid of Jesus and leaves us believing that going to the spa for yet another treatment is the answer to our life's problems, when Jesus is the answer! God bless you!

Professing to be wise, they became fools" Romans 1:20-22

    Not saying we don’t have an issue, but the obesity definition needs to be evaluated and updated. I’m 5’9 215 in size 9 and my doctor states I should be 165lbs. That means I would need to shed another 50lbs. I would look ridiculous that small I would be a size 0 lol.

    • @MovedbyHim
      @MovedbyHim 8 місяців тому

      The metric that is most commonly used for evaluating those sort of statements is BMI, which is not a great metric for individual assessment, but the best usable standard we have for population statistics. Think of it like a bell curve, there will always be outliers (hence, why I don't recommend it for individual assessment, but the outliers balance out when looking at the whole population). I would recommend finding a coach or nutritionist that can measure your body fat percentage instead and give you a better recommendation on a healthy range to aim for (this will allow for a better understanding of your fat mass, muscle mass, and hydration levels). God bless!

    Wel... I don't know about "fallen and broken" but I do know we - as a species - have be doing some major effing around and finding out ever since we tried planting plants and penning up animals instead of gathering and hunting. If there IS an "original sin" it was the invention of agriculture.
