I'm a UA-cam commoner and occasional video uploader. I was also once a dedicated UA-cam spam fighter. But that was before UA-cam's staff decided that it was easier to remove their own eyes and ears rather than address the problem and allow the vigilant userbase to serve as their eyes and ears wherever the staff themselves could not see or hear. Fortunately, the registration process seems to have improved its efforts to weed out spambot accounts. Unfortunately, the spam fighters among the userbase no longer have any means to report spammers aside from a questionably effective "Flag as spam" option for each comment...and no effective way to report a spam account from its profile page. They even removed the secret "Report User" links and pages as well.
Good luck with the spammers, UA-cam. So many of us would love to help you fight to keep UA-cam spam-free, but you went and neutered your own allies. So if that's how UA-cam wants it, then that's how they get it.

The Matrix Online - Character Creation
READ ME! I'M HERE FOR A REASON!
The Matrix Online went offline for the last time at 12:01 AM (or 2:01 AM, for us Central Time Zoners), August 1, 2009. And I was there for the last bittersweet moments, nursing over a whole platter of regrets. Why couldn't I have played more MxO over the years? Why didn't I ever get a Zion Reputation of 100 so I could finally get that key that cost $i 100 billion and visit the Zion Outpost? Why didn't I ever join a Faction? Why didn't I finish all of the Chapter so-and-so legacy missions for all three Organizations? Why didn't I ever finish all of Mercury's missions just to see what goodie he gives out at the end? The list goes on, and now it looks like those regrets will never be fulfilled.
However, one of the things that I did do on that last fateful day was to create a character and record the character creation engine at work, thus giving it some degree of immortality. It seems like with all the other MMOGs I ever played, you create your character and immediately get dumped into the game world. So imagine my surprise while I was creating EmeraldSkye (Mercy Devereaux, officially)--my first MxO character and my best--back in the middle of 2005; I'd just gotten done picking out all of her details, her stats and personality (Detached Spectator...not the best choice for a martial artist, I'll admit), her body type (mesomorph), hair color (emerald green, hence the name), tattoos (the little coppertop battery on her lower back, standing in silent mockery of what she once was) and so on. And as I was trying to come up with a good name and codename for her, the Operator spoke up, the camera panned around and, lo and behold, there was my new character, walking down the street with all the other Bluepills and loitering around behind a trash barrel.
There was just something that I really liked about that...that and the accompanying music, which I think fits the concept of a dark, technocratic future very well. The descriptions for the various Search Criteria personality types were perfectly "Matrixy" too. "Friends, parents, nothing ever affected you. Now you know why. Because none of it was real."
Whoa. Pathos. :-o
I also remember that I had a wild hair in me when I created Emerald. I picked the blue pill, Niobe spat a snippy little send-off along the lines of "Have a nice life" and I (and Emerald) got booted from the game. I restarted, tried again and all was well. Lesson learned: don't pick the blue pill. It's a waste of time. :-p
So Friday (July 31st, the last day for MxO) I created Topazina (aka. Tamara Wendt) just to commit the character creation engine to video. In retrospect I probably should have cut down on the combat training in the construct and spent some time fiddling around with the male bodies as well. But at least this should give you an idea of what MxO's character creator was like...just one of the many things that I'm going to miss about The Matrix Online.

This is another video that I downloaded from the official Matrix Online site years ago. This was a video which I downloaded from the Matrix Online site (thematrixonline.com) years ago. It is a tutorial on how MxO's close combat system works. At some point in the past three years, the interface was changed. The drop-down tactical console was removed, the contested numbers between the opponents were removed and we received a second visible hotbar; with no more tactical console, the ...

Awsome game
All the nostalgia😮💨😭
Why has this not come back??????? If I’m the Rabbit and I found my Neo… what do you want me to do coach.. I don’t know what to do.. this game in 2024-2025 would be.. it would be.. considering MK1 and CoD and The Matrix.. and GTA… I don’t know.. I want to know..
They Shoulda called this the blade ending 😂 for fun.
How epic it was to finish that game, I hope Bloodlines 2 doesn't disappoint
As do I...assuming that Bloodlines 2 finishes its emergence from Development Hell, that is. :)
Anyone in 2024??
Yes. But still without an MXO emulator, alas. At least City of Heroes/City of Villains got one.
I guess with the line "it happened just like you said", the malkavian who thinks they're Kaine theory kinda makes sense. But still, if Malkavians can see parts of the future, why'd Kaine be incapable of seeing it?
0:39 lmao can you actually call him "euro-trash" in the vanilla game or it's from a mod?
That's from the vanilla game, no mods. I never cuss or insult LaCroix (or anyone else) like that because every one of my Neonates is too classy to do that. 8) On a related note, I should probably play through with a Brujah one of these days....
For a video game that makes hommages to old movies and tv shows, this level is definitely like the beginning of The Wizard of Oz.
All that's missing is a cackling witch on a broom hovering outside one of the windows after the sales office goes aerial. :D
Wow, that takes me back. I loved the classic WoD back in the day. Thanks for posting this way back when.
No worries! I'm glad that I'm finally getting around to Storytelling a tabletop Wraith: The Oblivion campaign; I just couldn't stay away from the Classic World of Darkness forever! :)
Its 2024 and im still here
As am I! And I really should try that 'War Games' mod that just came out; maybe it'll soothe the pangs of watching Bloodlines 2 turn into a complete chum bucket after all these years in Development Hell, eh? 🤔
This is how you end a game!
If we ever do get a Bloodlines 2, it's going to have some _very_ large shoes to fill, endings included!
I still remember the night I completed Bloodlines for the first time; the top of the tower was afire and my 'Malk had flipped Nines off and walked away into the night. It still gives me chills!
Lacroix sounds like Will from inbetweeners
remake please!
I can get behind that. If we can't get a sequel, a remake or a reboot would do nicely; just take Bloodlines, give it a facelift and some new features (more Clans, more Abilities, extra Disciplines, whatever) and presto! Another hit! Why not, right? :)
Played it in 2006. Best ending credits I've ever seen. Troika created a game for the ages; A masterpiece. It needs a remake, it'll be the game of the year. To this day, I can not believe how awesome this game is! My God. The characters, the atmosphere, the plot. One of a kind...
This game holds up to this day. I still love it and the sound track is amazing.
As soon as I can figure out how to get it to run on Linux, I'm hoping to resume my current Ventrue playthrough. Fingers crossed! 😎 The soundtrack has one or two duds (like the aural sandpaper that is 'Lecher Bitch' at the Last Round), but the rest of it is pure gold. Even the ambience from just roaming around the city is very fitting for the mood!
For those who have a problem with the Unicycle part - * Install the Modernizer2 Mod * Run the game launcher > Custom > make sure 'Modernizer' is the only option ticked * In-game under 'Experimental Settings - Unlock Framerate: No' * Load the game, and select the Auto-save just before the level starts, with the cutscene (do not load after the cutscene) * You'll know it's working if the unicycle bad guy speed past you so fast in the first 10 seconds * Have fun :)
Over a decade later, and people are _still_ making mods for NOLF2? I need to look into this! 😯
I am bit confused by his attack in behemoth form. It doesn't seem to have many tells, but tends to be one shot by default, regardless of stats and stuff. Want to know, what the attack actually is. Since it's hard to tell.
Which attack? He swoops down, he throws things at you (like cars or people) and he screams a sonic scream which can also destroy the spotlights.
@@BloodyBay my issue was with swoop attack, at least the first swoop attack that happens when i get first get thrown out of window on the platform. no matter the build or stats, it's one shot. best strategy for me was, to not bother trying to shoot him or tank his attack but to as soon as i get thrown there, go for spotlights to bring him down, and then i use flamethrower on sheriff.
Mein Lieblingsende.😄
Wouldn't they need to open the bomb trapped coffin to put the fledgling in it?
No, they just bind the protagonist to the outside. If only Troika had added some chains or ropes around the protagonist and the Sarcophagus as well. But since you mention it, at this point in the game, Ming Xiao had custody of both the Sarcophagus and its key. So why _wouldn't_ she feel the urge to open the Sarcophagus and see what all the fuss was about? 🤔
it's always weird how dumb your protag can be, literally foreshadowed all game by several characters, let alone a well-known vampire scholar who is known for predicting shit right and a literal psychic, and even the protag himself if he's a malk.
That all depends on the player, honestly. Even a vampire with top marks in Intelligence and Wits is _still_ going to make the worst possible decisions if the player controlling that vampire is dumber than a soup sandwich. ...it's either that or willfulness and deliberate intention. I certainly wouldn't have been dumb enough to join Ming Xiao and get the god-awful Kuei Jin ending if I were doing an earnest playthrough; I only did that for completion's sake, for uploading that video to UA-cam (so that other people could watch it and spare themselves the trouble of finding that ending for themselves) and just to see exactly what would happen if I did that. 🤔
@@BloodyBay Yeah, fair enough.
Ask the player behind the PC why do they make dumb choices then.
Die Hintergrundmusik ist wirklich cool.👍😉😎
I always thought there should have been a hard to attain pro LaCroix ending the idea that immortal homeless bums always win no matter what you do infuriated me and I play Nosferatu most of the time, maybe Malkavian.
This ending doesn't make any sense. The Player should be able to take down everyone in that room. There should have been a fight with Xaio. If you lose, you get the normal Kuei Jin ending.
That would make more sense, I have to agree. Fight Ming Xiao _and_ all of these goons for the Final Boss fight; winner take all. After that, just grab a hand truck, come back with the Ankaran Sarcophagus (which she already has the key to) and let _her_ open the Sarcophagus to see what's inside. 😉
I went into this game completely blind, way back in like 2012, after getting it during the Steam Halloween Sale that year. I knew next to nothing about it or the story, anything. No spoilers at all. The story, the characters, the music, the atmosphere... just fantastic. I will never forget the feeling I got as I reached the end of the game for the first time, saw the story come to a close, and then listened to this song queue up as the credits began to scroll. What an amazing experience. What an amazing game.
Indeed it is! I just started playing Bloodlines again, and this time I installed the Clan Quest Mod. I'm trying a Ventrue this time. It should be quite the challenge! I should record my progress and reinvigorate this account with a new series of Bloodlines playthrough videos. 🤔
You have to ignore such an incredible number of red flags to ally yourself with Ming-Xiao that I almost consider this to be a hidden joke ending. You have to disregard the logs found on the Cathayan's computer in Santa Monica foreboding a violent takeover of LA, the warnings everyone from Lacroix to Jack gives you about the Kuei-Jin, the annoying passive/agressive tone of Ming-Xiao, her blatant attempts at manipulating you... You also have to remain oblivious to the fact that she did bankroll the Tongs and the Mandarin, and the dialog options that let you gain her trust are so "bootlicky" that I can't imagine anyone seriously picking them up.
Imagine harboring so much spite for the Kindred - your own kind - that you'll take sides with their declared mortal enemies, whether from thinking that you'll be spared and come out okay somehow, or from not even caring whether you survive or not. "Hey, new kid! Beware the Kuei Kin!" "I don't care, Nines Rodriguez. I hate you more!" "Neonate! Beware the Kuei Jin!" "I don't care, Regent Strauss. I hate you more!" "Incidentally, friend, you should beware the Kuei Jin." "I don't care, Beckett. I hate you more!" It _is_ pretty insane to pick Ming Xiao's side, all considered. But I did it (and made this video) so that nobody else has to. ;)
@@BloodyBay Exactly. Frankly, even a player who has come to dislike the manipulations and condescension of every faction and elder vampire (which... is understandable) is unlikely to pick Ming Xiao's side out of spite, since she is herself pretty unpleasant to interact with. I played through the whole game about ten times now, and I only picked this ending once, as a way to "punish" a Nosferatu character which I had played as a total bastard.
@@HerculeDevantrien Ah, if video game characters were sapient and self-aware. "My Creator! I did everything that you commanded! Why are you allowing this evil Chinese woman and her lackeys to sink me to the ocean floor? *Why have you forsaken me?!?"* 😆
@@BloodyBay As the Malkavian puts it when told they shouldn't keep on with their quest: "I don't want to, but try telling the guy playing me that!"
@@HerculeDevantrien The Malkavian is full of hints! The last ride in the taxi with Caine has the best insights yet. ☺ I'll have to avoid mentioning VV's real name (Sarah, IIRC) whenever I play a Malk in the future, though. There's no need to hurt poor VV by ripping the scars off of old wounds like that.
And then 5th edition fucked it all up!
No surprise there. 5th Edition Vampire, 5th Edition Hunter...5th Edition fucks _everything_ up! I can't wait to see the crater that 5th Edition Demon leaves behind.
@@BloodyBay I've pretty much abandoned World of Darkness at this point. Or at least anything associated with 5th edition. I've still got my Vampire and Changeling 20th anniversary books, though. Oh gods, I can imagine what 5th edition Changeling is going to turn into... woke, leftist politics as far as the eye can see, I guarantee it.
@@Nyrufa At least nobody can take away our 2nd Edition and 3rd/Revised Edition books. I'm not giving up _those_ games just yet!
I like how LaCroix laughs hysterically after seeing the bombs lmao
Ah, yes...the manic laugh of a man realizing that he's the butt of the most lethal joke ever and there's nothing he can do about it! :D It would be nice to see Smiling Jack come back in the sequel...IF it ever gets out of Development Hell, that is. Damsel's in, but she looks so much rougher and more haggard than Bloodlines here depicted her.
@@BloodyBay Nice to see you're still alive
@@b3nl555 Thank you. It's nice to _be_ alive. 🙂 I've been wanting to do with my UA-cam channel since the Coronapocalypse, but unfortunately, I'm on HughesNet now; it's almost impossible to upload a video without the connection dying halfway through. 😒
This game needs a reboot. It was so damn good!
The combat system alone was one of a kind! You didn't throw just one attack animation a round; it was always a combination of punches, kicks, blocks, dodges and a grab or two. "Gun Fu" with the various firearms at close quarters was just as dynamic: flips, rolls, feints, shots, behind-the-back shots and more! And the better you were at one of the martial arts or firearms Skills, the more you could do in combat and the fancier your attacks and defenses became. Even after playing MxO for a year or two, MxO's combat never grew stale! I'd love to see a reboot too.
@@BloodyBay I’ve been training kung fu for about 8 years now, and I’ve just about perfected the machine gun fist! I was in Iraq when it shutdown. I tried hounding Sony to release the coding. Sadly to no avail.
My world.
...including the ninja women? 😁
Kitana 🥋 (me). Pistol also can be.
kuei jin needs its own game too.
White Wolf recently gave us a Werewolf video game and a Wraith video game. So it may just be a matter of time before 'Kindred of the East' gets its day in the digital arena too.
@@BloodyBayOne year late, but that's highly unlikely, the Kuei Jin in today's world would be seen as problematic. Considering that they removed the whole "cool arab assassin" aesthetic from the Assamite (oh sorry, "Banu Haquim") and that they removed any trace of cultural origin from the werewolves' tribes, having a type of supernatural that is based completely on asian mythology may be considered offensive by some non-asian snowflake on twitter, and we don't want that, do we? Oh, also since vtmb 2 is most likely going to flop hard we won't see any other WoD videogames for a loooong time.
pretty sure your character could have killed everyone in that room, no way they are tying a 8th generation vampire to that coffin without a fight
I agree! If I protected Zhao from all those Tong goons shooting up that warehouse and kept Zhao _and_ myself alive, then mopping up five or six Kuei Jin goons with assault rifles couldn't be much harder.
Seems you do *not* have to be Ventrue to get this ending, right? That looks like the female Tremere.
That's correct. As long as you don't do anything to alienate LaCroix, you can be of any Clan and still have access to this ending. (And yes, that's my old Tremere, Circe Jones.) :)
@@BloodyBay It would seem miss Jones made some poor life choices, heh heh. Thanks for the reply man! Don't feel this would be right for my Malkavian cheerleader but I'm glad to know I can do it with any of them.
@@kingbrennus1580 I was able to reach all five of the endings (or eight if you include the "sub-endings" where you open the Sarcophagus and blow yourself up) with Miss Jones by not alienating anyone and manually Saving my game before getting into the taxi with Caine. Canonically, I went with the Camarilla ending first because it seemed like the way that a Tremere would roll...plus, I really like Strauss. :-) But that first requisite is the most important. If you tick Nines and the Anarchs off (by preaching that the Camarilla is better than them every chance you get), you lose access to the Anarchs ending. If you insult or alienate Ming Xiao, you lose access to the Kuei Jin ending (which, admittedly, isn't a bad thing). Ticking off LaCroix by constantly challenging his authority will cut you off from the LaCroix ending here (again, not such a bad thing) and alienating Strauss (which you can easily do just by telling Isaac Abrams that Strauss is the one who created the Gargoyle) will cut you off from the Camarilla ending. The Lone Wolf ending is the only one which you can't lose access to. So while a good many Bloodlines players see that ending as the best one (because you flip Nines the bird and otherwise act like a defiant ass), I see that ending as the one you get when you're a loser who's about as socially deft as a cactus butt plug. So I avoid it. >:)
@@BloodyBay Since I'm doing a Malkavian right now, I think I'm gonna aim for the dancing werewolf ending if possible, otherwise lone wolf would be fine for her, kek.
@@kingbrennus1580 I should aim for that Dancing Werewolf ending myself. Thank you for reminding me that it exists! 😄
In my thought i was enraged for his betrayal , i could everything for him and he throw everything away. I go to him and give the sarcophagous to my clan , the tremere, i kill or my clan kill the prince and i suppose i became the new prince and also the tremere was on my side i think
Maximilian Strauss is your ticket to reaching the Camarilla ending (in another one of my videos), and as long as you don't do anything to alienate Strauss or turn him against you, he'll be there to help you remove LaCroix from power in that ending. We don't know who will be taking LaCroix's place as Prince of Los Angeles, but removing LaCroix from power is a good first step.
Despite everything this is weirdly narratively satisfying
Some people are too dangerous to forgive; Sebastian LaCroix would be one of them. But at least you get to reconcile with that smooth talker before Jack's bomb removes you and LaCroix from the board together.
This was exactly my ending. Female Tremere with even the same clothing. I really loved to be his Wunderkind. The idea of become kinda the princess was too neat. I still have a trauma that we both died. Well at least together. ^^;
LaCroix does have his charms, it's true. But I couldn't really get behind him after he worked with Ming Xiao to frame Nines for Grout's Final Death, and calling the Blood Hunt on me myself just to keep me quiet only cemented my rebellion against him. But at least he's suave and elegant enough that I always avoid cussing him out in the dialogue options. Class begets class. ;)
XD
When I play this level, the guy goes really slowly on his unicycle and the game breaks :(
Ooh, that's not good. What kind of graphics card are you using, and how's your microprocessor?
On windows 10, this mission is Bugged because pierre won't move, causing me to be stuck at the second gate...
Windows 10 has many problems with running games, unfortunately, especially games that are more than a few years old. That's why my gaming rig still runs Windows 7. I wish I could help you fix the problem. Have you tried running NOLF2 under DosBox?
It was the thing thanks
atmospheric
...and even more atmospheric if the Sarcophagus doesn't explode. Nothing but rain, and no fireball to detract from it. Beautiful, isn't it? ^_^
0:10 the matrix code looks different tho
I don't think it's Matrix Code; it doesn't have all the odd squiggly characters, nor does it "rain" like Matrix Code does. I think it's just a representation of Link's tracer program trying to locate your new Redpill character and zoom in.
wow this video is OLD
So is my account. 16 years going on 17! I should probably do something with this account again, instead of letting it collect dust.
3 fps
The frame rate's a bit more than that. Also, check the date. FRAPS was _cutting edge_ recording software back then!
@@BloodyBay 5 fps?
@@BloodyBay you are still alive after 13 years?
He always pulls out a knife when I get too close, I'm unarmed nos.
He does? I *wish* that he would pull a knife on me, but Bishop Vick always sticks with his shotgun. Are you running any mods, by chance?
@@BloodyBay nah no mods and he uses he's shotgun far away and knife up close. This was a while ago though and I've killed him now, just kept trying over and over and eventually won.
@@blueninjanoname7338 When I beat Bishop Vick with my Nosferatu some years back, I alternated between stalling him with Animalism > Nightwisp Ravens and charging into melee with him while he was swatting at the birds. (As usual, pressing Down while attacking with Brawl or Melee will do a leaping attack which is useful for closing into hand-to-hand quickly; with certain weapons (like fists, knives or swords), this leaping attack will also knock your enemy down or back if it connects.) How did you do it?
@@BloodyBay I havent played it for a while but I think I just kept spamming the buffs and just kept on at him until he died.
@@blueninjanoname7338 Then if it worked, it worked. The proof in the pudding and all, right? 🙂
