Fixing the wireless charging on Chevy/GMC part 1. This worked for me but doesn't always work in every vehicle. So if you are a McGyver kind of person.....this may be for you.

Video of how I got the wireless charging to work on my 2017 GMC. Part2. It worked for me but doesn't work for everyone.
Tried this this evening and it works, iPhone 14 Pro Max. Shall see how long it last. I also turned the pad around. 2016 Yukon Denali
DUDE! Thank you so much for putting this on youtube! My iPhone XR wasn't charging on my '17 Silverado and I almost bought the part before I came across this video. It took me 10 minutes and my phone charges flawlessly now! So stoked. All I did was removed that little magnet in the center of the coil.
Anyone try replacing the magnet with a larger one? Would that make it work better?
It's a shame that slot is built for a micro phone and not a regular sized 2020+ phone. I wonder if popping out that silver piece would make it work.
Thanks man works good i try iphone 13 pro max and 14 pro
wait this worked for your 13 pro max? Now i have to try it
Thank u man i did it on my 2016 silverado ltz i pull that thing off and now woerks with iphone 13 pro max and 14 pro
Just get the new, Qi standard module with the 3 pads, GM 12521066 and the harness from Harness Dr. Plug and play fix.
Damn bro, you have other folks on here replacing that whole madule. Thank you
Didn’t work on my 2016 Denali 1500. :(
As the creator said in the pinned comment, this video is a bit out-dated and overly complex. GM made a new part for Chevy’s GMC’s, and Cadillacs It works perfect. Everything is plug and play! I made a video on my channel showing how to swap it in step by step if anyone seeing this is interested :) Shoutout to this guy tho for reverse engineering his own solution. Very impressive!
Didnt work on my 2017 silverado w my galaxy s20
Wow! Heck yes! Works on my ‘16 Sierra. Fantastic hack. Fine job sir.
Genius.
I didn’t see it was charging
All the way to today. This made it possible to charge my Iphone 11 Pro Max(with no case on it) and i did have to cut the + off of the pad and flip it but in emergencies it will work. I can't wait to be drving down the road and suprise my wife with the sound of a ding. haha. Now we just need someone to 3d print a larger plastic mold and a larger rubber pad! 2021 Here we are!
Update. My wife still hasn’t noticed a couple of times me placing my phone down and it charging. Haha. Wonder how long it will take her. It seems that I can only start the charge when our suburban is turned on it doesn’t work if placed after. But if placed on before the car starts it works. Although it’s not as convenient as I’d like it is a great thing to have during an emergency.
I tried this hack. Didn’t work for me. But I did find 2 of 3 wires broken at console hinge like other users found. These broken wires would trip two fuses that affected sunroof and rear AC port. Fixed and replaced fuses and roof works agaian
Worked great on my 2016 silverado ltz I have a note 20 samsung galaxy android. Thank you.
‘17 Silverado, left the coil but removed the magnet, works perfect. Iphone SE
Took cover off phone. No change magnet out green thing out also yes it was plugged back in. (That was my first thought)🤔
Well that didn’t work. 2017 Silverado Ltz iPhone 10.
Anatel is the Brazilian FCC equivalent. The new module is made by LG Electronics, the old by Visteon Corporation!
I have Escalade 2016 it’s work iPhone x10 only iPhone 12 doesn’t work
2017 Silverado. I opened up the module and removed the magnet. Now our Galaxy S10 and Apple iPhone 10 both charge.
Great video! I purchased GM part #84526978 for my 2016 Chev Suburban. It was $116 at the Chev dealership, and came with a pigtail adapter in case you don't want to trim the existing plug. This Gen 2 module works great charging my son's iPhone X and my iPhone 11 right through their cases.
Just did this on 2015 Tahoe, works perfect, no issues, just removed magnet, left coil plugged in. No issues with power cycling. Worst part was prying off the cover.
I just did this in my boyfriends 2017 GMC Sierra 3500 Denali!!!! He just thought he bought a new truck with something that didn’t work!! Fantastic!!!!! Thanks so much!!!
GM came out with a fix for this problem. Google GM part #84526978. I got mine from Tasca Parts. It’s a new module package that comes with a pigtail adapter. You gently pry open underside of console lid. Remove the 4 screws holding in the old module. Unplug old module. Plug new pigtail adapter into existing plug and into new module. Screw new module into place. Replace console lid cover. And it works perfectly. You’ll even see a charging icon on your radio screen. I have a 2017 Silverado High Country and it worked perfect, and only took 10 minutes and I’m no mechanic. You’ll only need some pry tools to work your way around console underside and slowly separate the clips and a T20 screwdriver for the 4 screws that hold module in place. It is literally plug and play.
$71.00 plus tax and shipping from Tasca Parts. www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwiCorj47ITrAhWEQxUIHV3YBhAQFjADegQIBxAB&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.tascaparts.com%2Foem-parts%2Fgm-module-pkg-84526978&usg=AOvVaw1SdwnkZaYEP_2_9MX4ggHl
I tried this hack on my 2017 3500 HD Sierra and it did not work for the iPhone SE I bought yesterday. Ordered an upgrade part.
I have an iPhone XS. I purchased a module for the 2018 and spent $100 online to put in my 2017 GMC and the module went out in less than a year. So, 15 minutes could have saved me $100? Is it still working? Are there any repercussions with damage to anything, i.e. phone battery, etc?
Removed the tiny magnet and also tried to remove the big plate and it didnt work for Note 8
Joe Hall google GM part #84526978. I got the new module that comes with pigtail adapter from Tasca parts for $71.... $87 with tax and shipping and had it within a week. Installed in 5 mins and works perfect on 2017 Silverado
@@di2082 I ended up buying the 2018 and newer unit with the wiring harness adapter and it works at least but it pauses a lot! Have a very thin case on it but even when I take the case off it still pauses.
Not sure if this would help any one but I found this.. For certain model year 2015-2018 customers, GM Service Bulletin #18-NA-153 is available to upgrade your vehicle's wireless charger to have latest compatibility. GM's compatibility chart link: www.gmc.com/content/dam/gmc/na/us/english/index/gmc-life/all-stories/wireless-charging/02-pdfs/GM%20Wireless%20Charging%20Compatible%20Devices%20-%202019-08-30.pdf My wifes Galaxy S7 would never charge on her 15 Yukon Denali, was told it was defective and they would warranty it, until it came time to do it. Then the dealer said it was a compatibility issue and offered this service bulletin and quote to replace for an updated charging pad for $200.
Does this work with an IPhone X and an Otterbox?
Shady GM putting obsolete parts in vehicles. I have a 2017 and I just called the dealership and they told me it only works with old phones like Galaxy 5 and it costs $500 to put that module in. I seen the part online as low as $60.
that little magnet is just there to extend the range of the charger so it goes through more material but in most new phones it will just stop the charging because its considered a foreign object it used to work with the older style of charging but because of the newer fast charging it doesnt work very good video showing people how to do this for free instead of destroying their console to fit an aftermarket charger in it :) <3
Everyone just buy the 2018 module the end
You’re the man.
Im looking to rig these chargers into a custom console, does anybody have a wiring diagram for what the three wires are for, im looking to just wire them to a power and ground source for the pad to work
I tried this but didn’t work on my iPhone 11
Just tried it on my iPhone 11 didn’t work 😢
My updated wireless charger unit came with a receptacle extension cord so I did not have to modify the electrical connections. With the excess cable and receptacle I just tape them down flat against the unit and everything snapped into place.
D Palm can you provide a link?

Anyone tried this on a 2019 Hyundai sante fe?! Please advise! Awesome video!!
Didn’t work for me X 2 on a 2016 Sierra or a 2018 Traverse
I saw your video and immediately went and did it and it worked! Although with a thick phone case it won't charge with case on but no biggie. Thanks again!
I just did this on my 2016 Silverado High Country and it works. Removed battery only like above comments.
thank you for this video. I will have to purchase these parts.
Where can I buy that trim removal tool? I just bought a 2017 GMC Sierra and of course my iPhone 8s doesn’t charge so I’m going to be doing the swap too.
Will this work for a 2017 Escalade?
As far as I have seen and people have commented it works in the GMC and Chevy trucks...If the charger is in the center console theoretically it should work. keep in mind there is a chance a good dealer will swap the module for a 2018 , so check that as well.
Save a pretty penny
Bad ass video thanks
2017 GMC Sierra - removed the repeater and reattached...didn’t work. Took it apart again and removed the magnet....BOOM!! It worked! Thanks for the help!
