I didn't know there were Crocodiles in Japan's Hell: A Beppu Trip
I go on an unexpected journey to Beppu, Japan, a place famous for its hot springs, but with a hidden, hellish twist and little-known world of crocodiles lurking in Japan’s “Hells of Beppu.”

hmmm,... Shinjuku has become much cleaner. Normally I would not visit but a relative lives here. You may like the SOMPO Museum of Art,... it is a bit small but their exhibits are extremely good. exhibits.
Have fun dude!
I think UA-cam cut out a bunch of audio at the 2:44 mark :( Maybe you got too close to a pachinko parlor blasting evangelion music? Haha.
I woke up early on the chance I might catch you streaming but was not early enough. I saw your Genkan shoe photo and knew you were at a party at an entertaining couples apartment. Then found this stream a little after an hour of you streaming. The Happy Gaijin is where it's at, but I'm not. Such is life. I'll probably catch the meet up stream. Slumber well.
New phone looks good. Excited for the live streams!!
I am actually in Tokyo for New Year’s Day 2025z I was a bit apprehensive about to it. Hearing stories about everything being closed. Thanks for the video pal 👍
i took a photo of the lawson store with mt fuji in the background whilst going passed on the coach, 2 bikes just happened to be in the shot cycling passed
New subscriber here by the way 😁❤️
thanks for following on here too!! later next week I will be streaming from here again :)
Just watched this today. Very belated Happy Birthday !!!! We were there a few weeks back, is that Melon pan shop near the temple ? I'm wondering where that shop is coz we didnt see that 🥲
Yes Melon pan near the temple! its amazing!
@@HappyGaijinThanks ❤️
Great listening!
Glad you enjoyed it!
hmmm ... Ghibli Park is nice but it is nothing compared to the genius and beauty of Tezuka Osamu ... Japan theme parks are a bit boring ... for me, Nogi Shrine is tiny and utterly beautiful ...
agree.. i prefer parks and shrines but sometimes these other activities can be a good circuit breaker!
@@HappyGaijin Foreign people in the Japan shrine seems so silly to me ... but, anyway, Tezuka Osamu is a god ...
Funny 🤣💡
Please change back to streaming in landscape orientation. It is much better than portrait mode
Hey.. I understand how you feel, Im gonna give this a little go to see how it goes but ninja monkey will remain landscape!
吾輩は他の鉢巻を送らなきゃ ... たぶん、ww! ...「尊王攘夷」 ! (^_^)
I have been to that park it was on the walk from akasaka to roppongi. Really nice pond view!
3:38 looks like a western house
yes
I am outraged at the hubris of fooling the gullible ( me) that this stream was live from the airport ( the only one). Also the neck pillow looks like your setting up a whiplash neck injury scam. I have found that Expedia and Google Flights don't always show all airlines and airports even when I've hi lighted and requested same. So I've learned to check on my own. But I learned some tricks here. I wasn't aware that Zipair flew into Vancouver until checking because I was under the impression that they weren't starting 2025. So thanks to Towada 106 I have learned of a whole new cheaper way to Japan. I just need a cheap flight to Vancouver cause round trip to Japan is often way cheaper than Edmonton to Vancouver round trip. But this could be a real game changer for me. Mini Weekend meetup tour, great idea. Great stream wish I could have been there.
"the neck pillow looks like your setting up a whiplash neck injury scam" LOL Im laughing so hard Jim lol
hmmm,... some items regarding Zipair,... for checkin and carryon there are size and weight restrictions so please be careful. You cannot change seat assignment (but upgrade is possible). No food is served (but you buy small things) and there is no inflight movies. But it is JAL subsidiary,... and the flight attendants seem happy to have an easier job ... coming back to America is frustrating because at checkin, many Americans don't follow the rule of weight restriction and begin moving luggage items around to avoid extra charge.
Nathan, do you ever use Orbitz to do price comparisons on flights or do you mostly use Expedia?
I use Expedia and Google Flights mainly!
@@HappyGaijinok thanks!
Fantastic live stream. Thank you Nathan for answering my booking flights question. And I love the neck pillow!! 😂
lol that neck pillow was so popular haha
@@HappyGaijinprops are always fun! Viewers love that!!
Liking the information!! Good idea , wearing the travel pillow so funny 👍
I thought it was funny haha.
Firstly loll😅😅
Im laughing at Jim's comment "the neck pillow looks like your setting up a whiplash neck injury scam."
@@HappyGaijin omg😹
Please continue to post ! ... most of my relatives don't care, some really hate foreign tourists but your channel is fun to me ! (^_^) ... hmmm,... also,... Miyazaki is too popular to me and people not Shinto visiting shrine seems weird, anyway, Dogashima is more beautiful,... Utagawa Hiroshige even made images of it ...
I will.. it just takes time to put the videos together!
@@HappyGaijin hmmm,... it may be interesting for you to visit Ichigaya-dai in Tokyo. You will not be allowed to film many places but I think the old headquarter building may be ok (I was allowed to take pix). The people there will be polite but definitely not friendly. Anyway, it is not a place where foreign tourists will almost ever visit I think, ... at least, I have NEVER seen foreign tourists there.
How u doing?- Happy. yo! what a unusual vlog. ))
I livestream every Wednesday so this is the replay I guess hehe
Amazing 🤩
nightmare start haha
I kind of regret not having spent more time in this area. I mainly did a quick trip to the Oita/Beppu area to see the monkey park. I hoped to squeeze in time to see the Hell, but I can't remember why I didn't do that after. My original plan for the area was actually go to Mt Aso from Oita, so I didn't plan the visit very well. Maybe next time! I liked Kyushu had very few tourists. That pudding looks like creme brule 🍮
I love Kyushu and I know I will return soon! .. Theres always so much to see or return to right?!
@@HappyGaijin Yes! My first time into these regions, I tend to do a quick 'sampler' of every city. Then on a return visit, I will spend more time where I really enjoyed.
Love the use of music in this. I’ve already been to Beppu, but am considering going back. Just for the hell of it.
hahaha just for the hell of it.. I really want to return when its cooler, I also want to do the night ferry from Bepu to Osaka as it looks pretty cool
Wow those crocodiles not bloody scary just looking at them scares me. Interesting and informative an entertaining video as always from you
I’ll never go back lol
I love the sea hell (my avatar). I’m glad you finally got to visit them. I didn’t know that you don’t like crocodiles, so I don’t think you will ever visit me as Cairns has warning signs on all of our beaches and river to be aware of them 🐊
Well if you accompany me with a rifle lol
Oh yes !! Your avatar lol I just noticed haha
Looks beautiful! But how is the sulfur smell?
actually it depends on the area, some areas were pretty strong others were not noticeable to be honest
Domo arigētā gozaimasu for this nice video Nathan 😄
haha.. i still have a few more to put out there, I love editing these :)
I think Beppu is nice ... but Kusatsu Onsen has more culture of bathing and better water. Still,... during high tide when the hot spring water bubbles up from the drainage system it makes me so happy (^-^) ... ww! if you are not able to wait then you should not be in Japan ! (^-^)
i choose my queues
@@HappyGaijin ww! ... for Japan, the best things will have the longest lines (^_^) ... except my local bus ...
Those hells are cool! Thx for taking us with you! 🎥 👏🏼
Ye, i love these kind of places
Beppu has the wildest dinosaur love hotel - we tried a live stream there when we went last year, but had phone overheating issues - I didn’t see the crocodiles…Wani-wani chan! Footbath cafe looked like a great alternative to the 40 minutes wait!
Crocodiles.. so scary, I would have rather spent my time in a dinosaur love hotel haha
Such an incredible video!! I want to go too , you did a variety of things , the tower I loved that and footbath cafe , crocodiles um strange 😅 I wouldn't wait 40 mins either unless it had a great atmosphere
I think the waiting depends on whats on your agenda.. it was quite late and I still had a few things I wanted to prioritise. I'm glad you are enjoying this more rough edited vlogs :)
So Nathan's Inferno has only 6 levels of hell. That's one less than Dante's had. I'm not sure if Nathan just forgot that the lake of blood had 6 legged crocodiles, but Nathan's only has 4 legs. Either way hells and crocodiles go together. Beppu looks interesting, added to list. Hey, I wasted yesterday afternoon waiting for a live from the rock but nada. My week has been ruined, I don't know if my fragile psyche will be able to recover. Never knew Japan had crocks. So another thing I've learned from the Happy Gaijin.
I didn't know japan had crocs either and now... Im rethinking my entire life. I think Streams will be back to normal next week I will send you a PM on insta
3:15 now there is a rare sight :)
haha a BIN!! (Trash can!!) YESS lol
Crikey!
Yea!
Hi my friend. Traveling to Japan in October from NY. Any recommendations on travel medical insurance companies? Thanks buddy.
Hey, sorry I use a local company here in Gibraltar Europe where I live so in terms of USA insurance I have no clue but maybe this helps and its from the offical Japan tourism agency: www.jnto.go.jp/emergency/eng/mi_guide.html
I live here and I definitely understand how you feel, I am now a land-owner here and pay a significant amount of taxes on real estate but I am new tourist every day, go have some fun and don't think about those pensioners too much ! 🤠
I always shop at Don Quixote for my souvenirs on the last days of my trip. There is so much choice and not enough space in luggage. 😕
haha yes! never enough space, but at least you can purchase an additional suitcase!
hmmm,... I think, for foreign tourists getting souvenirs, even many second tier departments stores like SOGO and Daimaru will have a section for traditional Japanese goods. (um,... please excuse me, I have a very low opinion of Don Quixote and only went there once ... )
Another great journey! Thx u for taking us wiff u ❤👏🏼
It was a fun trip .. back soon enough
hmmm,... Roppongi was used by the Imperial Army but after the Pacific War, American military lived there. I went yesterday because Tokyo Midtown Tower Suntory Museum has a wonderful exhibit of Nagoya Tokugawa Museum items. Also, maybe interesting if you like history, there is Nogi Shrine, museum and home here. I was able to pray here before the afternoon rain. ummm,... I really don't like Don Quixote (it seems cluttered with nothing I want),... you will find much better quality at Mitsukoshi. ww! finally I can leave Japan next week before typhoon 10 comes (^_^)
What a great close on a 6 week trip. I hope you had an amazing time and am excited to see more of your adventures in the fall. Safe travels, Nathan ✈️🌏
Glad I could share it :)
Hokkaido should really be more than 1 prefecture. It's shouldn't count as 1.
Haha but it does
As one expects the final day of a Ninja Monkey trip, I'm sure it's the old push pull. You've been steadily on the go in slightly and only very slightly less hectic schedule than normal. That means your sort of ready to go home and a more normal routine, but you still aren't really ready to leave. The amount of stuff you purchased you need half of a large suitcase to hold. Not a lot of weight just a lot of bulk. I had spotted Star Jen in an earlier video with you and Anming 7, but she didn't say much. I hadn't heard her speak since one of your London Pub meet ups from over a year ago. In the final meet hours, a meet up with Anming 7, and Japan cry's at the thought of your imminent departure . You look wet, while Anming 7 doesn't, how does that make sense. You'll be back in 9 weeks, and maybe I'll have caught up your content from this trip, before you return. I saw you in one of Anming 7 videos and you guys looked like you were having so much fun. Me, I was just suffering through a severe case of FOMO, cause I was really missing out on your Japanese adventures.
I always feel like my last day in Japan is always the same .. shopping (mostly for other people) and trying to squeeze meeting people and doing the things I love.. unfortunately I wasn’t able to make it to teppan baby on my last day though
I love gyoza! I fry them a lot at home . Thank you for sharing your last day in tokyo. My last day would be chilling, not using the train system and getting lost 😁
Hahaha don’t get lost in Tokyo on the last day no!
Where is Star Jen from?
Londoner!
