    if it's going to be in the wall i would use a metal box not cheap plastic , i would add something like 1 by 2s to those studs and make a door ,or use an old cab. door and if your going to cover the pipe DON'T USE that cheap flex ,use gal. sheet metal pipe . p.s . i just picked up a pro clean for my dryer BUT IT'S GOING TO BE ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE WALL ,i hope i helped you .

    @6:31 Seems counter intuitive that you are talking about the ground wire on the lug on the left, but there is a green screw on the right that would seem to indicate put ground connections on the right, and neutrals on the left. (As if there really is such a thing as a neutral -- more Negative connection, after load connection.) I'm more in favor of supply leg, and return leg.

    • @Ciband
      @Ciband Місяць тому

      That green screw is the bonding screw for bonding neutrals and grounds. Has no bearing or indication on where to land grounds. Left and right doesn’t matter. Land them where it makes sense physically based on where the wires come into the panel. Both sides are neutral busses and connected together so it is all the same. Thanks for watching.

    Connected a flex line with quick connects to my new gas grill and it doesn’t get above 320 degrees. Is there something I’m missing?

    • @Ciband
      @Ciband Місяць тому

      I would start with doing the load calculation to make sure that the BTUs of the grill can be feed by the pipe you have ran. That will make sure the gas flow and volume is there. You can also just look at the burner flame and see if it looks funny/bad/different. You can also hook up a portable tank to do comparisons for temperature and flame.

    • @Sb631flex
      @Sb631flex Місяць тому

      Yeah actually after doing some UA-cam google research I found out that there’s nozzles and orifices that govern the gas output hence LP vs NG conversions. So I ordered a kit that has some larger holes to allow more gas thru to each burner. I’ll see what happens after I install them. I also found after a few attempts that the 7mm socket fits perfectly on the nozzles. I’ll report back here. I did take off the existing nozzle and gas flow was too high which led me to think the nozzles will work.

    • @Ciband
      @Ciband Місяць тому

      @sbaillie631 oh yes. Are you using Natural gas? If that is the case then yeah, you would have to convert your grill.

    • @Sb631flex
      @Sb631flex Місяць тому

      Yes NG line from house. The nozzles didn’t fit my grill so I’ll have to try and drill out the holes on existing nozzle caps myself. I’m using a new members mark grill so the kit I bought off Amazon is for a griddle and was a slightly different thread size.

    • @Sb631flex
      @Sb631flex Місяць тому

      I drilled out the nozzle hole to 1/16” and it works great now. Gets to 500 degrees. There’s some slight yellow flame probably from grease burning off, doesn’t last long. But it gets hot now I can say that. Anyone else try this? How’s it working for you?

    Yeah. I am suggesting that you actually protect that ground wire running outside the panels. I have used what is referred to as an armored ground. It's a 3/8" steel spiral flexible conduit around a ground wire. It can be purchased separately. Adds a layer of protection to that copper wire... And it can be done still even though your done with every thing else...

  • @user-yb5od8sg6p

    I am totally perplexed, for a couple reasons. First, self-tappers drill their own holes. You use them so that you don't have to do a pilot hole. They tap themselves, hence the name. More importantly, unistrut **already has holes** in it so that you don't have to do this. Like, loads and loads of oblong holes so that you can put them together in just about any position you want. They are made to be attached to each other with nuts and bolts, or with nuts and all-thread...fender washers would be sufficient to prevent the bolts from pulling through. Bolting these together is way sturdier and much stronger than using screws AND it's less work. Leave the drill bits and the screws in their respective packages next time. The last thing I would say is that I believe it would be much easier, in most applications, to plant each vertical pole in the ground individually, level them, and THEN assemble the horizontal bars. It's not wrong to do it the way you did but it's more difficult, and I think you have turned a very simple project into a major operation. But at the end of the day you tried a thing and completed the thing, and despite what I have said above I would bet that your frame works just fine. B+

    Not trying to be a jerk BTW. I apreciate your enthusiasm and see you have went all out with the setup. But I was making $20-25/day GPU mining with only a 2k setup. 4 cards. I ROI'd on my gpu's in 6 months and after ETH switched, the gpus went down in value by 1/2 and now are worth 1/4. All that for $5 a day bro... might just be better to buy bitcoin.

    • @Ciband

      I had thought about this. It still might have been the best move versus mining. The tax deductions do help move the needle toward the mining but just buying Bitcoin is simpler and definitely not a bad way to go. Thanks for watching.

    So as you may already know the main disconnecting means for the steel structure panel must be on the outside of the structure. You should also bond the the steel structure to the ground bar of the main panel inside the structure. (Bonding the steel structure is also acceptable in the first means of disconnect on the outside of the structure.) The main ground for the structure should have been a ufer which is a concrete encased electrode that should have been poured with the slab so the slab will be in the same equipotential bonding plane as the steel structure. Your setup will work but it is not to code. Hire electricians people. Insurance may not cover any damages or harm done to personnel if you do not install your equipment to code. If I were you I would also install a disconnecting means attached to the outside of your home as a disconnecting means in case firefighters having to quickly turn off the power without having to search for the disconnecting means on your steel structure. Torque all of your lugs down to spec and mark them with a paint marker. I would also use a #4 bare copper for the main ground. 2023 code now requires all main panels to have surge protection devices. These will hopefully protect any circuit breakers with ground fault protection or arc fault protection circuitry along with potentially protecting equipment in use. I hope this helps some folks out there but still hire an electrician please.

    • @Ciband
      @Ciband 4 місяці тому

      Thanks for watching and the comments. When I redo things for solar I will probably put a disconnect on the outside so that is an area of improvement for sure. A very low risk “safety hazard” in case of a fire, but noted. I have two ground rods, which is acceptable instead of a ufer, according to the NEC. Bonding the steel structure is functionally accomplished by the mounting of the panels to the strut and the strut to the building. If there is a specific NEC requirement that calls out some specific method of bonding, I would be curious as I like to learn. I think 2020 required the SPDs and both my panels have them. Thanks again for the feedback.

    Looks like up high you maybe could have used 2 45 elbows instead of 2 90 degree elbows.

    can you share the brand and name of the 200amp disconnect with 8 spacers, looking to do the same thing.

      It’s a square d homeline 200A 8 space feed through lug panel. The part number is somewhere in the comment section but it is the only model they make.

    I ripped the whole booster fan mess out and put the electric dryer vent into the garage since it was on the other side of the wall. I have a lint box on the garage side that I pull open and knock out into the trash can every other week.

      If I were giving it away, yes…but I’m not. I need it to regrade the front yard and then to shoot small pieces of lead into. You can come use the dirt whenever you like.

    Your lucky they allow 2 inch for their triplex. In my area its 3" all the way to their tub.

    Your grounding electrode conductor is supposed to be in conduit up the wall. #4 doesn't have to be in pipe. That's why we use #4.

      Didn’t think that was the case based on my understanding of code and other installs I’ve seen. Got a code reference?

    So what didn’t you run the ground inside the conduit with your main feeder cables? If it’s residential then it’s perfectly fine to do that. I do it all the time and passes inspection with flying colors. Looks better too.

    Box offsets are hard for me too. Nice saddle bend! First time I bent conduit I measured everything like 50 times before bending and it came out pretty good (imho). I did another circuit a few months later, with a win under my belt I was more cavalier about it… and it’s janky AF - lots of bending & tweaking and looks bad, but it works fine so… ima live with it.

      Thank you much. Ha, yeah that is always how it goes. You think you have it down and then you screw up. Every project you can see where your skill set was at. A nice visual history. Thanks for watching.

    I also ran dedicated ground inside my conduit when I added a 240v circuit for my EV charger. I think it’s worth the extra peace of mind compared to relying on the conduit housing to be ground, especially if you might ever have a 4-pin outlet on the end of the conduit. I’m not familiar with running Ethernet in metal conduit… I usually see plastic flexible conduit for Ethernet. I’m impressed by the conduit bends tho.

    This is cool, I’m interested and glad you shared, esp. since that’s the kind of video I tend to make these days: here’s what happened & what I learned - sorry it’s not a highly produced tutorial 🤷‍♂️ but it could still be informative and helpful to others. I’m looking for a way to move my furnace fan onto a separate 30 amp circuit which already has wiring in place to a 30 amp breaker in the main panel. That’s why I stumbled across your video, which is kinda similar… except my home already had the extra wiring done by the builder so no need for a sub panel. I guess our home’s HVAC installer put everything on one circuit for some reason. I want them separated since we now have a Tesla Powerwall which can run the furnace & heat pump, but not the heat strips (too much current). So right now we can’t use central air during a grid outage, even tho solar panels and battery can output enough to run AC or heat pump when it’s warm enough to avoid using heat strips. Anyway cool house, glad you’re able to make changes like this as you build out - even if there’s some setbacks along the way.
