    At the end of the day, great cymbals and a great drummer can make any shell pack sound good. With that mentality, I think it’s a very worthwhile purchase, along with some Zildjian A Customs or Paiste 2002s.

Like many, in trying to learn guitar I spent so much of my time focusing on my left hand learning chord shapes, I neglected the importance and variety offered by good strumming technique. Great video addressing something that I don't think gets a lot of attention in the YT lessons. Make the left hand chase the right hand, even if it stumbles at first, instead of slowing the strum down to wait for the left to get its act together. Use a slow tempo until the left stops stumbling and then pick up the tempo gradually.

    Hey man! Great and honest review here. I have some concerns that I thought were worth mentioning to you! First off, I have a 20” kick as well. Is that Tama 20” kick you have, an 8 lug or a 10 lug? To have a 10 lug 20” kick is super uncommon. In fact I never even heard of those before. Second, when you mention how you can’t go any further because the kit gets in the way of the pedal being flush with the hoop, you had the pedal in a perfect spot! You shouldn’t have to go any further with the pedal on the hoop, because you should be able to tighten the clamp with a drum key so it wouldn’t move anyway. I see there is a logical reason for your concern with it being flush to the hoop, but man for a 20” kick, you shouldn’t have to go any further on the hoop with the pedal, you’d run into the cam hitting the head, because it’s a smaller sized kick. I know that on my 20 inch kick drum. I have to bring my pedal back a little bit because the beater shaft at the end will just rub against the head and scratch it. Just a suggestion I thought of! Another question, are you able to adjust the wheel part on the pedal where it makes the beater hit the head? If you’re able to adjust that piece side to side then you can easily fix that problem of it not being flush to the hoop! Also, do you have a kick drum larger than a 20” to try this pedal on? It would’ve been worth mentioning or trying that out to not drag everyone off in the comments here from buying the pedal. It seems like a great investment, I know though that because of your video it showed that this pedal could be limited to its customers! Thanks for the review sir! Have a great one!

    • @chrispidgeonmusician
      @chrispidgeonmusician Місяць тому

      Hi. Thanks for watching. It is a 10 lug which is the issue as the lugs are too close together for the pedal to fit in. I’ve used one of these on a 22 no issues. The Tama lugs are quite wide too with the plastic hoop protectors so it simply won’t fit. The hoop is normal width so you need to push the pedal all the way flush or else the beater is too far away. No issues with interference with the head like on some smaller drums with narrow hoops as this one is standard size. I would not steer people away from the pedal but it simply does not fit on my 10 lug 20” kick, and that is a fact. Thanks for the feedback - it’s a shame as I like the pedal but it needs to fit my drum!

    These are great bags. I use a number of them. One of them I carry a spare snare and pedal to gigs. (Thankfully never used yet) The other I use for my throne top and main pedal. Also great when going to rehearsal studios when you don't need to bring a kit. This on your back, your cymbal bag in one hand and a spare hand to open the door with ! I can even carry some sticks in a mini stick bag in the pedal section of the larger one.

    Would be quite a different video if you sent the "design flawed" bassdrum back and kept the pedal, would have love to see the looks on the Tama guys their faces 😂 🙈 What are your thoughts about the subtle differences between the 'German Jojo' and the 'Japanese Yamaha' pedal feel?

    • @chrispidgeonmusician
      @chrispidgeonmusician Місяць тому

      Haha yes it would have been - although the drum is in fact fine lol. I did that last year. I cut to shape and super-glued a small piece of high grit sandpaper across the top 1/2 of the pick on both sides. It's almost hard to drop the pick now. It makes it much easier to hold the pick lightly and let it hit the strings at opposite angles on downstrokes and upstrokes. It's easily better than those liquidy "grip" concoctions available to put on the pick.
