.05 wr bop Happy to be able to take this record again as I wasn't sure if I would be able to. '01 version still feels a bit funny to me and I'm much more comfortable on '99, but the gap is getting smaller. I've gotten very comfortable with the lap skips though I think I could learn to do a couple of them slightly faster overall.

My second full run of this category as the first time I made a small error that resulted in doing 13 time racers and invalidating the run. Oops. I have also just discovered the audio issue on the last 3-4 tracks. No idea what happened but I won't be submitting this. Its already uploaded though, so.. I got a 50 earlier today to submit instead.

Tried something thats been thought of before but I guess I didn't believe in it until now. I will go for a 113 sometime. Lap 3 was a bit unfortunate but at the same time I'm lucky the run didn't die. Laps: 24.43, 24.80, 25.10

I'm so happy right now. I've been trying to get sub 44 for a while. I don't know if you could write a better script for a run. So many ups and downs, including a complete meltdown on one specific track (I was studying mid run and thinking about non Lego Racers things and my brain just poofed) followed by a ridiculous gold on the next. This run is a couple weeks old. The best pace up til mMMM I've ever had. 9 seconds faster than my second fastest Basil exit ever. Choked on Johnny a bit, but in the end rng said not today :[

interesting to see how these time trials work in lego racers, but not gonna lie the teleport function kind of ruins the purpose of the track. like you dont see any of it really :C
Yeah the warp is super op. Kind of a shame sometimes, its actually really fun to just boost with regular green bricks too if you can chain them.

hey, person who's never seen this game before here. Why's that car your car of choice? it's....a Cube.
The number of bricks determines the weight, which in term affects turbos. I don't know the details.
More or less what ork said. I honestly don't even remember if it affects flat driving speed, but anytime you're above top speed (getting spit out of a warp, right after a turbo is used, a good grapple hook,) you can hold reverse while holding accelerate to decelerate to top speed slower. Heavier cars benefit from this more. Lighter cars will get spit out of warps a little faster, but they don't keep that speed for as long. Heavier cars will get spit out a bit slower but they keep the speed longer, letting you keep traction for powerslides to corner tighter. I'm really lazy so I usually just use cubes and now I'm somewhat known for my shoeboxes, but a few of the other runners build much cooler looking cars.

Genuine curiosity here. I played the hecc out of this as a child, right, and I always thought that car building was purely aesthetic. Is it, or does it actually change how cars behave?
It changes the physics for sure. I'm actually not too familiar with 2001 version (the one in this run), but on 1999 more bricks is more weight which is more speed. You can unbalance the car by putting more bricks on one side or to the front or the back. The more bricks you have on your car, the more speed you keep when decelerating from above top speed (warps, any turbo) if holding accelbrake. The less bricks you have the more speed you have exiting warps, but you can't hold the extra speed for quite as long.
man. what a scrappy run despite being WR. that annoying RNG can really kill runs. not that there is much rng here but "random" with how the ai drivers take bricks sometimes. there is so much time to shave off here. if one just manage to get perfect green+white bricks without the ai drivers ruining it.
It definitely adds up over the whole run. I'd like to get a clean run someday
Damn lucky, the shortcut being shot open on DAD lap 3 just before you got there! It was cool to see how you got back on track after being behind for a while as well. Awesome run!
Thanks! Believe it or not I knew the shortcut would be opened because I heard Redbeard pick up the last white brick for the missiles, that's why I didn't even bother with the red brick.
