    how convenient little fellow.. Do you know if one can make music well with this one? What DAWs work with this? Like Ableton, will it work? or, what about Davinci Resolve, if one likes to edit videos on it? Thanks for sharing with us, looks neat!

    Do you find any issues with it pushing the limits for power? I'm tempted to do POE since like you I have a bunch of other POE devices already.

      No, there's more than enough power, even on a PoE switch with a minimal power budget. In fact, you have to use a step down power adapter like the ones I recommended.

      I use it mainly for web development (e.g., running python scripts locally and interacting with OpenAI API, simple bash scripts for sending commands to our AV matrix switches and Zoom Rooms, etc.). But it's a good general purpose computer. Easy to use as a Remote Desktop as well if you want a reliable, small Remote Desktop sitting around somewhere.

    I bought one about 2 or 3 years ago and the fan is loud and it never stops, plus it overheats and all I do is surf the web or watch UA-cam. It's too bad because I will never buy a PC with windows. I'm surprised people put up with windows, I have to use it at work and the lag is horrible.

      Hello @DonAsk-ks2qy. That's definitely not a common issue with Meerkats. We'd love to get to the bottom of this. Please reach out to support and let's get this fixed for you. Even if your Meerkat is out of warranty, we offer lifetime support and can help diagnose the issue.

    You can snip the existing power adapter that comes with the echo show 15 and send the dc power over Ethernet cable. Just double up the pairs for increase wire awg to handle the 30 watts well. For example wire the negative to orange and brown pairs, positive to blue and green pairs. This gives you four 23-24awg wires for negative, four for positive. Works awesome and it’s ran my echo show 15 for years now no issues. No extra POE equipment needed.

    • @NathanGrahamly

      Absolutely. I already have a PoE switch running other gear in my house but just sending power over cat with the bundled power supply would work great, too. You're talking about this approach, right? ua-cam.com/video/aErLiAM2o40/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared

    Hi again, Nathan. Although you say that the Meerkat runs Coreboot nowhere on the System76 website does it say so. So I asked the company. Awesome video, does the rivet that dropped down rattle when you drive now?

    • @NathanGrahamly
      @NathanGrahamly Рік тому

      Nope, thankfully no rattling. Hard to describe but the rivets are made of very thin aluminum, and the piece that drops isn’t round. So you have something light, that won’t roll, in a large space. I wondered the same thing though and read a good number of tutorials, and really the only way to remove a rivet is to destroy it.

    This seem to be a good solution for my 21 rogue as it came without racks. I just feel a little unsure about the 4 rivets per rack as the primary attachment to the vehicle. Would those be strong enough? Should I look for a special kid of rivet?

    • @NathanGrahamly
      @NathanGrahamly Рік тому

      I felt the same way but I bought a $22 rivet gun on Amazon and used the included rivets and put a Yakima box on top with 100+ lbs this summer and had no issues. It’s surprisingly sturdy.

      @NathanGrahamly Рік тому

      So far, so good - I had a large Yakima cargo box on the roof over the summer with probably 100lbs of camping gear at one point, and rock solid. The main issue I could see cropping up with these bars is if you don’t snugly fasten the snap down rail-end covers since those aren’t bolted down like the rest. Hasn’t been an issue though for me.
