Milwaukee 55 in. Track Saw Guide Rail, 48-08-0571, 1006461884, NOT RECOMMENDED!!!
SUMMARY: Great potential but with a serious flaw.
BACKGROUND: I have used saw guides for many years. With the introduction of track saws I wanted to get one, but the cost was prohibitive. The opportunity to evaluate the Milwaukee Track Saw Guide Raid was a welcome opportunity to start building toward getting my own track saw.
NOTE: I eventually received three (3) track saw guides. This gave me the ability to have a single section, and to combine two guides for ripping full sheets of plywood.
FIT AND FINISH: I own many Milwaukee tools and work at a store that sells tools from other manufacturers. The Milwaukee guide seems the same quality of even the most expensive track saw guides.
FEATURES: From the product page with my comments as appropriate.
• The Milwaukee guide rail is designed to deliver precise straight cuts for the professional carpenter and remodeler.
• Compatible with the Milwaukee 6-1/2” Plunge Track Saw (2831-20)
o Also fits another popular track saw.
• Compatible with Milwaukee Clamps (48-08-0573), Milwaukee Rail Connector (48-08-0575)
• Anti-slip strips to keep the track from moving during cuts and an anti-splinter edge strip to help make splinter-free, finish quality cuts.
o Anti-slip strips are good, but I always clamp where possible
• Anti Splinter Strip To Reduce Tear Out During Cuts.
o The heart of a track saw guide rail is the blade strip. It not only reduces splintering and tear out, it provides a “cut to the mark” capability for the craftsman. This was the fatal flaw for my guide rail.
o Anti-splinter strip fell off due to bad tape. It fell off on all three guide sections after a few months. I had only used two of the guide rails a couple of times. The adhesive on the tape turned to goo and the strips fell off from their own weight. The guide rails were all kept in my shop so there was no extreme temperature exposure. This is a fatal flaw. (see photos)
• Extruded Aluminum for precision straight cuts
o Best, and most expensive, guide rails I have.
• 55 in. guide rail
o Long enough to crosscut a full sheet of plywood.
o Two rails connected can rip a full sheet of plywood
OPERATION: When used with a track saw you can put the rail against the cut mark and the guide will make the saw cut on the mark. No more making offset marks or moving the saw and rail to get the blade in the right position. Using the track saw there is no way for the saw to “creep” away from the cut line.
PROS:
• Straight cutting.
• Holds track saw securely.
• Can be clamped to work piece without interfering with track saw.
• One section can crosscut a full sheet of plywood.
• Two sections can rip a full sheet of plywood.
CONS:
The anti-splinter strip fell off due to inferior two-sided tape. I had to buy two-sided tape and reattach to splinter strip. If I had cut the cut strip before It fell off I might have had to buy another one to ensure proper alignment and cutting using the guide rail.
SUMMARY: Nice design but inferior materials make it a NOT RECOMMENDED product.
PHOTO CAPTIONS:
1. In the box
2. Impressive initial appearance
3. First sign of trouble, anti-splinter strip starting to peel off
4. 3 sections of track, splinter strip completely off two and starting to fall off of the third.
5. Adhesive on tape used to attach strip turned to goo and strips fell off from their own weight
6. Reattaching splinter strip using double-sided woodturning tape.

I’m wanting to put one in, I have metal siding and easy enough to drill out. I have a plethora of tools so that’s not my issue and your demo is the only one exactly like mine in that there’s almost no room in the basement up toward the ceiling or on the sill plate (sorry if incorrect name for it) but I’ve wanted to replace my normal hose bib whatever it’s called with this Aquor system because for whatever reason when I turn my water on it’s not only difficult (I have lupus and hand strain is a real issue) I also hear a horrendous sound and it sounds like the pipe shakes too. Ik when my bathroom was done 8+ years ago one thing the contractor recommended was a new hose bib (again sorry if I’m saying incorrect names for things) so he replaced it and prior to me knowing about the Aquor system. That’s when I noticed how hard it was to turn the water on and off but the same sound existed even before. Anyways I’ve done several jobs with plumbing now but I’m hesitant to change this sucker out because idk will this Aquor stop that awful sound or make it worse, is there a way to control water pressure as needed and there’s almost no room without drilling through I’m sure important wood structure framing to replace it. I could be wrong on having no room but I noticed this Aquor leans slightly downward in your situation so that could present problems for me too. Sorry lots of questions but it’s hard to find examples like mine

    • @PerrySummers
      @PerrySummers Рік тому

Frost proof hose bibs (or sill-cocks) have to be angled to allow water to run out. The valve is actually where the long metal tube connects to the house piping, so the downward slope lets the water out. If you have noise and possible pipe shaking you might want to put some clamps to hold the piping next to your supports. If the piping goes through floor joists you may need to pack the holes to stop the vibration. My original connection used a straight Aquor connection. They sent me a "regular" looking connection that has a valve on it. I like that better than what came with mine. Hope this helps.

Got mine from Amazon.CA ..., was like $90 Canadian. If you're as tired as I am of banging nails out of reclaimed pallets? Highly recommended! I also picked up a "Pallet Buster".... I've been salvaging pallets for YEARS and my life got a whole lot easier with these two tools. Wish I had acquired these tools earlier! BTW, the ONLY pallet buster to buy is the one with the "swivel heads' on the end. They lift the board out straight from the runners without leaving a huge set of divots on the underside of the board. (The side most often used after planing because of the smaller nail hole)...ONE OTHER THING: IF YOU DON'T WANT a huge divot where the de-nailer slams the nail through....just hold it away from the board so the drive-pin doesn't ruin your board. /wink --- Pallet Buster: www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00JH41U7M

The Aquarium Co-op linear piston air pump is phenomenal for my large fish room (multiple 4' & 3' tanks), but I don't have that kind of money for the living room tanks (4x 10 gallon, 2x 40 gallon, 3x 2.5 gallon) With your demonstration of the extra outlets venting straight to air, I'm pretty sure this will do the trick. I broke some with it and it worked fine. The main difference from an s-wrench is you can work the ratchet just by moving the handle back and forth.

@@PerrySummers looks as if you're moving the handle up and down as opposed to back & forth. An s-shaped would go back & forth though.

You are correct, the swivel changes the reciprocating motion to circular motion.

They held up really well there, but they were too bright. I moved them under the roof of our outdoor kitchen as a motion light and they light it up really well.

Can't wait to get mine. Being a electrician there is usually only one laser level on the jobsite for us. Right now we only have a 6 point bosch laser level. It works but its nice having the horizontal line and vertical line as well as the plum dots for laying out lights.

The only thing I really wish they had done in the wall hanger was to put a rivnut 1/4-20 tripod mounting screw. Perhaps I will attempt to drill it and put in a Plus or Riv nut.

It never seems to amaze me how dangerous some of you wood turners are, gloves when turning. Skin will give the glove won’t and sooner or later your going to find it out especially when you keep grabbing the wood while it’s turning, a good video on how not to do it

Thanks for the comment. Filmed this in the early days of woodturning. I've learned much since this.
