    The overexposed video and the creepy music makes me feel like I'm watching found footage in a creepy pasta video. The video itself is nice though, I hate ASMR videos where they spend most of the video making noise than showing you what's in it.

    urgh. Reading aloud has improved my pronunciation and i easily comprehend what i am reading. but i have not developed any writing skill and have no creative abilities. Whereas my friends who do silent reading have a strong grasp on vocabulary and their creative writing skills are far better than mine. But i have a problem with silent reading. I can't sit still. and it distracts me alot. Like i dont know when i finish a paragraph and doesn't understand it. Whicj reading approach should i follow then ? I have been reading aloud since ny childhood but no vocabulary no writing skill has been improved since then.. but silent reading also doesn't work for me

    Thank you for your video. I have always thought that shorthand was the way way to take notes. My sister took shorthand while in high school. I thought it was amazing to see that she could write a sentence. That was understandable with symbols that look like to me. Gibberish. At&t to myself. What a wonderful technique to use in school, but I had no idea how to implement it. Thank you for your video. It confirms my thoughts that shorthand was a technique. That would help. Really appreciate your video.

      You may be a weak auditory learner. That's okay! What is important is that you keep experimenting with different study styles and activities, and always check to make sure you are getting the most out of your routine. There are a ton of other things you can do that may be more visual or kinesthetic if you learn better that way.

      Understanding and pasaing University and college level classes are not one of those things and it is irresponsible and malignant for you to insinuate otherwise. There is a way for you to get great grades that is both fun and easy but it takes work. It is not the same as attracting a husband or winning the lottery which are clearly outside the scope of this video.

    Reading out loud can help with memory retention, it depends on what sort of learner you are. For some people the act of engaging the circuits of the brain for speech is distracting and hinders the internalisation of information. Experiment with sounding out the sentences in your head (subvocalising) and reading out loud to see which helps more. Both subvocalisation and reading out loud have exactly the same benefits when it comes to memory depending on your personal learning style. Reading out loud is unique in its improvement of your fluency of speech.

  • @SteinGauslaaStrindhaug
    @SteinGauslaaStrindhaug 5 місяців тому

    That's funny because for me it's completely the opposite; reading out loud or even just reading "out loud" in my head (i.e. thinking the sounds as if I was supposed to say them out loud) or "internal voice acting" as I often think of it; slows me down enormously and completely bypasses my reading comprehension. And when I read normally without any internal sound generation; I do misread words, swap them and read the wrong line and skip here and there, but I notice the errors and can re-read and understand what I'm reading; when I read out loud I don't notice what I'm saying and I certainly don't notice if I'm saying the wrong words or skip lines etc. I sound like I'm barely able to read. And if you force me to read something out loud without time to read it silently first; I will not be able to answer almost any questions about what I just read. Even if the text is huge font and triple line spacing so I don't stumble and misread as much; I don't understand much while reading out loud; because I speak so much slower than I'm physically able to speak; and when there's no struggle to visually decipher the text itself it turns into a mechanical boring process where my mind wanders and I start to think about other things while reading. That's the same problem when I listen to people speak; especially if it's something that is not that interesting or they speak slowly; so I often have to increase the playback speed to avoid getting bored. For instance this video is perfect for me at 1.75 speed.

      The fact that you are experimenting with and constantly optimizing your study strategy shows that you are on the right track. Keep up that self awareness and commitment to understanding and nothing can stop you!

      Exactly my experience as well.

  • @SteinGauslaaStrindhaug
    @SteinGauslaaStrindhaug 5 місяців тому

    Yes, it definitely makes a difference, if I'm reading out loud I do not comprehend anything of what I'm reading (presumably because I'm too busy translating from text to sound rather than from text to meaning); when I read in silence I read 3-4 times faster than I'm able to speak and I get the meaning of the text. When I read for comprehension I do not translate into sound at all, I just see the words and get the meaning. The only exception is when I read fiction and there are spoken lines written in a non standard way to indicate slurred speech or a different dialect or something, in which case I'm forced to enable my internal voice actor and sound it out in my head and listen to what it sounds like... And I often have to do that several times before I can understand what I'm saying in my mind; it's as if I have to bypass the normal text-to-meaning circuitry in my mind and use the text-to-sound part of my brain which is sloooow and then I have to listen to myself and pass it through my terrible sound-to-meaning circutry which and hope that I understand it. But I really hate when that happens because when I've started "voice acting" the lines reading speed slows to a crawl and I struggle to understand what I read; so I often have to read the same things over and over until the voice acting stops so I can understand it again.
