Scrapping a Baldwin Hamilton upright piano, WHAT WILL I GET?
Do you know if it got so much magnetized to it that it wont float anymore? Thats my theory because Ive got a neighbor thats had the light on ever since 40k miles and the tank is so clean Im thinking the mag. collected so much it wont float + on yours the rust sediment on the bottom and the pole may caused some drag. Im sure you tossed it by now but that would be an awesome test. Great video half way threw I said I wish someone would cut one apart then you whipped out the cutter. lol
@@scottsinfl Thanks. Interesting idea. Whatever the exact case the magnet is sludged up to where it diesn't move. I don't want people to get caught up in thinking its the sensor.
You can get grease into that bearing. My spindes had no zerks or vents they now have zirks and even though they have seals on the bearing they will take grease under pressure. My advice to you is block off the vent and it will take between 60 and 70 pumps depending on the grease gun. They are banking on people to think you should not force grease into the bearing. They should only have seals on the outsides and no seals on the insides. They make bearing like that. If you take out the bearings and remove one side of the seals that way you wont have to buy new spindles.
@@jamesgeorge1709 I bought a dixie chopper mower with greasable spindles. My cub cadet, I put some anazin spindle on "just because"

Nice vid bud. Great information. I’m looking at this jack for my personal vehicle just for when I have to change my tire if flat and carry the jack inside my half ton Chevy. I have multiple Daytona 3 ton rapid pump super duty low profile jacks in my shop and they’re Freakn awesome and and I use them many many times every day but I sure as heck don’t want to pick them up and put into my truck cause them things weigh 104 lbs. so I’m looking into this aluminum jack to carry inside my truck but I want to ask you if you use constantly on your truck and if it ever failed you or slipped on you or if it is a jack that you have total confidence in to use for your trucks. Thank you ahead of time for your responses keep up the good work. Awesome vid.
@@tommygarza8043 If it fits you can't go wrong. As far as I'm concerned, harbor freight is the #1 place to buy a floor jack.
I replaced the battery, but now my mower turns off once I go to undo the E-brake, and if I even go to move the control arms. I’ve located the sensors and it doesn’t seem to be anything wrong.
Theres an open circuit somewhere. Maybe the seat. Do you have the wiring diagram.
I suspect you broke the actuator arm because you were operating the system too fast. My Jari sickle bar mowers operate best at just above idle engine speed (they have governors). So, use Low on the Hi/Low lever for the Gravely and just above idle on the engine. Your tractor doesn't have a governor but one would help. I love the old Gravely tractors! Thanks for sharing.
It was broken when I bought it. I've acquired a new one and will operate it at the correct speed. My buddy grew up with these and said the same thing.
Thank you Sir. Much appreciated. I have same issue on my 2500
What a sweetheart❤
Great explanation. Just got the low coolant light and temp was good, and level was good. Only 91k on a 2018 Cummins. What a poor design it seems to be, but thankful for your video
Same here. 80K on a 2018. I’m going to test the sensor before diving into a reservoir change, but, man, this video will be helpful if I end up there.
I saw a video(might be this one) that showed how to test it. Pretty simple. But it sounds like the sensor does not go bad….. just a piss poor design by Ram.
@@StevenJarrett1961 This video is pretty straight forward. Shows how to test the circuit and the sensor: ua-cam.com/video/gB0-2aMFcZ0/v-deo.html
The SENSOR NEVER GOES, ITS ALL THE SILT IN THE SYSTEM THAT CAUSES THEE FLOAT TO STICK IN THEE LOW POSITION. I LEARNED BY WASTING MONEY ON A SENSOR.JUST GET A NEW RESERVOIR
@@ronmoore3987 100%. I’ve been living with the low coolant light and just watching the temp, but the long term plan is to replace the reservoir with a billet aluminum one. Couple companies make them. They use a traditional float mechanism and plug into the sensor.

For the love of God, stop destroying beautiful old pianos!!! Refinish, and re-purposed the cabinet!
@@jondavidcoursey541 appreciated. This had a long life in a school. They were happy I bought it or they would have had to pay to get rid of it. I think they make new pianos every day somewhere...
UK piano tech here. This happens every day, I get at least fifty calls from people wanting rid of their old acoustic piano for nothing for every enquiry from people wishing to buy one. You might as well say stop scrapping beautiful and perfectly good 35mm cameras.
@@scottcarson3004 They build new ones every day. Certainly, there are some worthy of saving. Not an old school piano.
@@thewayidoit8895 That's true, but the market has shrunk to such an extent that restorations are only worthwhile nowadays if it's a top German maker or the piano has a sentimental value for it's owner, (..."it was my grandfather's piano..." etc.) We used to restore all sorts when I started out fifty years ago which would be scrapped today without a second thought.

I recently deleted an obtrusive comment. Not sure who the person thinks they are but bottom line is these spindles are meant to be run to failure and replaced. Just because you can modify them and force grease into them doesn't change the fact. It's like the long drawn out discussion about light truck universal joints (and other chassis parts) while there are those out there that prefer greasable units, sealed units work better for most because the greasable ones simple don't get serviced frequently enough. If you disagree with my video, go make your own video. Don't be rude keyboard warriors.
the solenoid under the floatbowl on the carb is a fuel shutoff it is supposed to shut the fuel off so it wont backfire =) we have the exact same model/year/design of that one and we setoff the safety shutoff because the ebrake handle no longer operates correct and when it backfires you can hear it for quite a distance... its rare (but does happen) the fuel pump usually doesnt go bad the dixie we have has oh i think 1400 hours and lives in a barn.. other then the owner constantly leaving the battery in it every year its always started. most dont know this but some of those dixie chopper have twin element air filters which people replace with a single element.. the owner of this one said they purchased it from dixie with a twin element so they ALWAYS replace it with the same twin element they wrote the belt, air, oil and spark plug numbers under the seat and have it all replaced every end of the season
Yes, I have worked out all the issues and have it back as it was intended from dixie chopper. Someone owned this and hacked it up. Some people should not be allowed near machines.
you did not have to loosen the strings first before cutting? I thought that would be dangerous?
Naw, they aren't too tight.
Overtime you will get a bunch of crap in your coolant solder bloom other contaminants just wear and tear stuff that will eventually get introduced. This is a great video, especially showing and cutting open the old reservoir and showing people how it works with the float versus the sensor well done.I recommend every 200,000 miles not just doing a coolant flush, but getting some of the D scale fluid to run through with distilled water to try and remove as much sludge as you can. This is an eventuality, but maybe it might lessen the timeline before things seize up.
Perhaps 100k miles.
The U-joints are also 'timed'... meaning if they are not properly aligned, *1/4 turn off, they can bind. THAT can cause that knocking noise. AND break them!
Yes! Conventional u-joints must be used in pairs. When tge shafts have angular misalignment the u-joint causes the center shaft to speed up and slow down, this is negated with a "timed" 2nd u-joint. The angular misalignment should be the same with both u-joints as well. Do you agree?
I just purchased one. Do you have oil or grease in your gear box? Mine has grease in. Trying to figure out if I need to tear apart and clean the gearbox to put oil in or just keep adding grease. I am guessing double O grease?? I actually changed mine over to all steel tines. After watching this video but a little different. I Used galvanized washers bolts and nuts and double tine... tines in addition to four bent single hay rake tines. I will send you a picture if i can find where to send it.
My gearbox has 90w gear lube but hasn't been checked in a couple years. We used a special liquid grease on our truck at work with a central lubrication system. It might work well. A grease that liquefied in warmer weather would be fine too.
So where the link to the New Hollad video that doesnt have a bunch of non sense talking
Love you! The new Holland information seems to be gone. This baler is worn out and I'm switching over to another and will be doing a video. I speak with plenty of useful details if you are willing to listen but with most people it's easier just to show them as we process what we see much better than what we hear.
This is NOT the good one but its pretty detailed. ua-cam.com/video/ZoB_1meRa9A/v-deo.htmlsi=YKkDMn80Q4Ij9lGF
The grease will get in the bearing even though it has a "seal". Been proven.
Yup, and get out. I have a different piece of equipment with now dry "sealed". bearings
do you grease your trailor bearings. how about your truck.
I would prefer to grease all bearings. However, considering universal joints, the fact that feasible ones get beglected and sealed ones tend to last longer as a result.
You should contact a luthier about the sound board. 60+ year old Sitka spruce would be great for acoustic guitars
I'm not sure which wood is which. I kept some frim the cabinet. Just watched a kid make a guitar from copper wire. He ended up making a tin alloy for flowability. Cool to see but pretty impractical.
I just had same switch on mine go bad it would run fine, I'd turn off mower clutch switch, shut it off, then wouldn't restart. There is a set of contacts which goes to starter solenoid coil on that mower clutch switch, so wont let you start with mower clutch engaged.. Supposed to be open when running closed with switch off.... Thanks for your video
These seem to be a weak link on most zero turns. I know someone who turns her mower off and in like they are pumping hand lotion. (Did I say enough to insinuate its my wife? Haha!)
You grease them so they won't rust ..... remove the seal on each bearing, smear some Lucas Red & Tacky in there 2 times a year and you will get 10-15 yrs out of them easily !! If you want to pump your gun 75 times or more in hopes of forcing grease past the seals for longevity, then good luck, but I personally think you are an Idiot !! 😏
I agree that Channelock brand is best. I have the same size Channellock you showed and have used it many times removing oil filters, especially on new equipment and vehicles.
What were your symptoms that got you to replace this? thank you
I don't recall. I experienced tire wear. Did an inspection and found it. The rubber had been torn on it since I acquired the truck in 2019. Working a lot I never too the time to properly replace it. I did an alignment using parallel strings but tge tires still wore out so when I replaced the tires I had a shop do the alignment. I was dead on. It was $100 to confirm I know how to align a vehicle with parallel strings. These trucks are just too heave for 235 80 17 tires.
Thabk you helping us out to see how this is done. 😊
Happy to help
