I remember that anime wasn't even a term until DBZ grew in popularity in USA. I later learned "wait... thunder cats was anime?" back in the 90s, they were just called japanese cartoons. Action Anime Midnight could also play a role in this, but DBZ in toonami was how it grew heavy. But each period, more of the world grew their popularity. We stopped having bullies about anime around 2004, when Dragon Ball Z/GT was ending in USA. Attack on Titan in the 2010s was the second drive to bring nonanime fans in. Then the lastest wad demon slayer around when even my mom got into anime a bit in the 2020s. But way in 1998 [I first saw the scary episode of dbz in 1996 on fox as everyone was dying, and walked off as a little kid saying "That's too scary" and thought dbz was a horror cartoon, the very first I ever seen lol--5 uears later saw berserk at age 10 and alucard and ghost in the shell]. One punch man wasn't a transitioner to bring nonanime fans. You can tell based on the profits, streams and merch. Each boom was attack on titan, dbz, pokemon [when people didn't call it anime], and lastly demon slayer, which is the fastest profiting top 5 anime. Grew way too fast. But if someone in the UK says one punch man was the piece to bring people in, then that makes sense in their region. But when things trend in USA, they tend to trend elsewhere a little bit after until the 2010s, when everyone streams similarly in time -- and most of the profitable subs and dubs, even on sketchy sites, are officially english [funimation, etc]. Most of the largest fan events are in USA because that's where most of the moeny is at. If one wants to get into anime marketing, follow the money, and you'll find the jackpot on what the audience, even in japan wants. Too many people give one punch man too much credit in adding more audience, when the numbers don't show that worldwide. That anime simply invigorated the current anime fans to hunger for more creativy sakuga, honestly. Action dramas [demon slayer, AOT] are what really draws new audiences, since many love drama and action together in films. Especially after the avengers change in the box office world. The one reading this might find gold in this, if they're into indie animation. Not a lot of people can see the potential calculus they could uncover from what I just said in terms of marketing. Numbers don't lie. [tip: the current trend people are finding but isn't as big is the goofy or bizzare action trend: chainsaw, jojo, mob psycho 100, dandadan, but this is the very ambitious avenue that may end up being niche, but big enough to garner many eyes to your work while the trend is hot to anime goers and comedy or bizarre fans convert to anime, even though one punch man maybe funnier than them, it's results isn't as impactful due to long waits for season 3 during covid]

Neo nazis literally want that homogenous japanese lifestyle as a nation, but japan does it so kindly that people don't realize how racist the country can be until you're black and visit or raised in it lol. bro the ending of evengelion tv anime is amazing, you can rewatch it many times unlike the show, I mean the presention of the show is good with mech fights and music but most of the time it bored me, that's why I think shin evengelion was better than the tv anime, but that's subjective.

I'll take an unpopular video to scream out an unpopular opinion: CLANNAD SUCKS SO MUCH Never fails to put me to sleep. That's all.

In the beginning Gintama comedy clicked for me right away and the further I watched it the better it got. I was suicidal and smoking back when I was around 7-8 years old. Seeing Gintoki trying his life really resonated with me. Even now I am all messed up but just like he said I want to try to live my life as long as I can no matter how much I want to end it all.

funny how mushishi, a damn SoL iyashikei, is one of the most scariest anime i ever seen, crazy how an anime so serene, calming and beautiful had some really unsettling stories

I can't watch anime mostly because of the dialogue. I physically cannot stand the monologuing, the over exposition, the inconsistency in character personalities or designs. No i think most manga writers just don't know how to write dialogue. Beserk one of the few anime whos dialogue isnt horrible.

everytime u say the word "dialogue" i just wince lmfao while i do agree that yeah this is what makes anime cringe, at the same time u have to take into account that most of anime are adaptations of manga, a medium that expressly employs "thought bubbles" or monologues where if on live action shows, just come off as cringe. in tv shows or movies, what you get from characters are from the words they speak and the actions they do but you wont hear their thoughts bc that would break immersion. this is a big difference as to why the storytelling in other media differs from animanga.

As goofy as Gintoki is, once he give advice, he speak the truth. That's resonance to me a lot because I was like a clown in my circle group and everyone never take me seriously. But as we all doing marathon watching all the episode of Gintama for a week, they slowly realized that goofy person can be serious too. And I was the nearest example for that. Glad they're understand. Even tho I always act like I don't really care about serious stuf, but I actually care so much. Sometime, I want them to rely on me and I want to be trusted too.

It's easy to generalize and criticize an anime genre that's overly saturated with low effort put into them. Why be illogical and say that anime in general has bad dialogue? In the video, you say there's good and bad, so what do you have that suggests that anime has bad dialogue in general? If you watch nothing but the usual slop, of course it's all going to appear lazily written. And besides, unless you know Japanese, you're never going to know for sure what it's like to actually interpret the language, or what they're saying, the way it's meant to be interpreted. From japanese to english, things are going to be lost in translation, so why ignore this? It seems as if you want to put it all on anime, becuase it's popular, even though you admit that some anime has good dialogue. So which is it? You could easily say the exact same thing about western dialogue. There's good and bad media from every place, generalizing is just stupid. Also, saying "Anime dialogue sucks," is clearly just to get clicks. You clearly acknowledge that there's good and bad, which is the opposite of generalizing, but then you make a video generalizing anime dialogue to be bad. Very contradictory.

Basically Japanese people socially and culturally so awkward that they don't know how to properly communicate. So when Japanese writer need to write conversation they don't really know how people would actually talk under specific condition. So they come up with very trophy, soulless dialogues. You can see manga or light novel with actual good dialogue, their author are often interested in foreign media.
