... As native czech speaker who tried to max out duolingo czech course... I am ASHAMED... The last part "speak like local" was like imitating how people speak in Prague.... But to the extreme.... Not even once i heard anyone local speak like that. I wanted to write the answers like they should be.... Duo wanted his messed up version that i would never ever dare to write or say... * Currently trying Finnish duolingo through english... And to be honest i am going crazy...

Yeah the grammar rules are the reason why most of us czech cant even white our own language correctly to perfection lol.

I tried czech duolingo as a native speaker and honestly those senteses are sometimes absolute nonsense and the flow of some of them is also pretty off. I cant imagine someone doing czech duolingo and learn actual czech language

Oh boi, are you in for something when it comes to y/i grammar, if you ever get there. Natives learn it for several years and still make mistakes there rather easily.

Hey man, as a Czech I can say that czech is HARD , but duolingo doubles down by making you use the formal type of czech. ´Most of us arent talking the formal type czech you see on duolingo, hell when I was learning english through czech, I got half of them wrong because it wasnt a formal czech they want. Pain in the ass I can say.

As a native speaker, I hate Czech.

Let's be real - slavic languages are quite flexible to the point where you can use many words to get the same meaning and duolingo(or any language app from my experience) just sucks at this. Also you you're trying to learn czech as a language I wish you best of luck and lots of patience. It is a beautiful language for sure but it's hard as f*ck to learn ;D

I am from Czech Republic. And hey even for me native speaker it´s hard! I tryied my language (Czech) and even Duo isn´s the brightest star in the sky with Czech... Czech is a very VERY comlicated language. Falls (Pády) and other are such a learning breaker you want to quit! I hope you get your lesson :D (I mean by that learning Czech isn´t a good idea...) Tak nashle a doufám, že vás nevystraší slovo: "žebříky" :D (Here you go, and I hope the word "ladders" doesn't frighten you :D

And do you know what problem for all people from czechia is? They are getting better grades in English then Czech language. YUP, even tought I´m terrible at English.

Czech is surely hard(even for natives😆), but is the best language for writing books or songs, you have many words with nearly same meaning that you can use , for example dog: pes, čokl, psisko, pejsek, pejsánek,psík, psíček)

It's great to see people learning the language, and I agree about the pronunciation. Even Czech kids usually use tongue twisters to learn how to pronounce certain letters correctly.

I'm a native Czech speaker and out of curiosity, I tried the English course for Czechs. And I kept failing because it didn't accept my Czech translations 😭 When there are several ways to say something, you just gotta read Duolingo's mind to know how exactly they want it phrased.

The worst thing about Czech on duolingo is the fact that it uses a lot of words from an interdialect that we call "obecná čeština" ~ common Czech. Which yes, especially people from the region of Bohemia use but it's not the correct words if you wanna learn it like legit. When I tried it because I couldn't wrap my head around the words "vokno" or "vona" and it took me some time to realize that duolingo wants to teach you the "common Czech" words. [For anyone wondering both words should be without the letter "v" and be just <okno> = window and <ona> = she)

Fun fact : The czech word "honiť " has 2 meanings : To run after something And to do your stick ( if you know what i mean ) Oh and also, don´t worry, Slovak is even worse. WAY WORSE.

There are no good Duolingo courses. The app sucks. Any alternative is better. Dozens of people have streaks over 400 days and can barely read their target language. Duolingo is an advertising platform, not an educational tool.
