Hi Everyone,
I'm new to this and at the moment I'm trying to find a niche so I'm uploading various types of videos. Some will be about what we have been doing and others will be designed to inform you of different things or places. Hopefully as I post more I'll get better at the content and find my style and topic on which to base the channel going forward.
If there is anything you particularly like or would like me to have a go at please let me know.
I'm not looking at monetization at the moment, just a hobby, but you never know. So to help me out in the future, if you are in two minds about subscribing then do it, what have you got to lose? No, really you have nothing to lose so subscribe just for my sake.
Thanks for visiting my channel.
Robert

BIG 4 Gold Coast Holiday Park, Helensvale, Qld || Closest caravan campsite to Queensland Theme Parks
Переглядів 3,3 тис.2 роки тому
Hi Everyone, This is our walkthrough of the Big 4 Gold Coast Holiday Park at Helensvale, Qld. Being a Big 4 park it has some tremendous facilities but this park goes the extra mile in some areas. Great park but be careful where you book as some of the sites near the front of the park do get a constant hum from the traffic on the motorway. Fantastic location if you are looking to visit the theme...

Brisbane - Milton to Southbank by bike and BBQ
Переглядів 353 роки тому
This is a ride that Alison and I did from Milton to Southbank in Brisbane. At the end we cooked a simple lunch on one of the many free barbecues around the area. Not shown in the video but on a Sunday, near the barbecue area where we were there are bands playing on the grassed area where you can sit and while away the afternoon. There are a number of restaurants opposite and some do takeaway pi...
My Flying Lesson
Переглядів 143 роки тому
My wife Alison bought me a flying lesson as a present and this is the video of me taking to the skies with Gil Layt's Flying School at Archerfield Airport, Brisbane. It was a great experience and fantastic value if you buy through Groupon or Scoopon. I would definitely do it again. Would I go the whole way and get a pilot's licence? Probably not as I don't think I would get the value out of the...

Big 4 Sandstone Point Holiday Resort Walkthrough - Big 4 Sandstone Point, Bribie, Qld
Переглядів 2,8 тис.3 роки тому
This is a walkthrough of Big 4 Sandstone Point Holiday Resort which is located just before the bridge to Bribie Island in Queensland. It was opened in 2015 and has been kept in immaculate condition. It's operated under the Big 4 banner and although it's on the higher side of caravan park costs, the facilities certainly make it worth the cost. The Park is attached to the famous Sandstone Point H...

Great video, thanks for sharing. I used to live across the road from the lake on Phillip Place in Settlers Village. Moved away for work in the Central Australian Desert in 2012 and returned in late 2021. I walk the lake and all those great trails you shared some weeks up to forty-three kilometres. I love it. Friendly people. Clean suburb. Outdoorsy vibe. And great walking tracks. ❤
Good job love but just wear gloves I think it’s the best way nitrile gloves defend against chemicals for your skin and health.
Oh my,absolutely terrible idea, don’t you see her stainless steel appliance is dull, she scratched it all up,foil paper too abrasive, then not going with the grain bad idea, just use bar keepers on a damp microfiber cloth will take it out, clean it off then finish it with baby oil on soft cloth , good as new
That was scary
Scrub daddy paste and scrub daddy . Scrub with grain and then buff off with cloth.
Thanks Guys Very Helpfull
DON’T DO THIS… stainless steel ALWAYS has a grain to it. Firstly, you must only rub in the direction of the grain or you will leave swirly scratch marks. Secondly, don’t use aluminum foil, as it’s far too abrasive wadded up like that.
No no no no no. WD-40, Barkeeper’s Friend, naval jelly, Evapo-rust, or white vinegar. ANY mild acid will do it. Some people use a baking soda paste to abrasively remove rust. Most importantly, use a SOFT CLOTH and wipe WITH THE GRAIN. Finally, neutralize any acids you used, and treat the surface with a neutral oil which will protect the finish from further oxidation.
Only bloke explaining a caravan who does not talk bollocks, brilliant and many thanks.
Oh no, I think this method might make the stainless steel even more vulnerable to further rusting? (hopefully I’m wrong!). 😊
Hi JulieAnn. Ours has been fine, no further rusting. I think if you used something abrasive like wire wool it might but the aluminium foil doesn't seem to have any adverse effect.
@@robandalicruisetravel ok thank you, I was curious! I think also your dishwasher has better quality stainless steel.
Well, in my experience, this will scratch the steel and yes, it will make it rust more
Facts it will mess up even more
What’s the name of the hedges that you have? The wall
To be honest we don't really know. They were here when we bought the house and we aren't really gardeners. Sorry.
the dog chasing the butterfly is the highlight in this video
Forest Lake looks so beautiful particularly in Autumn.
We love living here.
Shouldn't you go with the grain??
I think you're probably right Ronda.
Not with the foil, it will scratch
Wrong way, scrub with the grain 😊
Hi Colin. Thanks for the tip, we'll try that.
Great video and this seems like such a versatile caravan. We are considering a 2010 version of this model for two of us and your bed set up is a great idea. How do you find the wet room? This is our only concern as we would prefer a separate shower so our feet are not getting wet when we go to the toilet but for our budget we have to compromise somewhere. Thanks
Hi Tracey. We have no problem with the wet room but we don't really use the shower, tend to use camp sites with facilities and use those instead. Also, we have the rubber mats on the floor which helps. It really is a great little caravan and so easy to tow.
Thanks for sharing your great video, how awesome is that place... we loved your last visit☺️
Hi and thanks for the comment. We love this place too and were supposed to be going for Christmas and New Year again for 22/23 but had a change of plans. Will be back there this year sometime though to see the new pool and swim up bar.
Brings back memories lived there for over 10 years in all great place. Would move back tomorrow if could get the wife to.
Hi Graham. Thanks for dropping by and for the comments. We have been here 8 years now and it is such a nice place to live. Unless things change we have every intention of making this our retirement home.
I lived there from 2006-2011, Awesome place to live… loved it
Great Caravan. How much did it cost?
Hi Crescendo. Thanks for dropping by and for leaving a comment. Sorry for the delay in replying, go hit by the dreaded flu and COVID. We bought it in 2013 and at that time it cost AUD$35,000. I think this was one of the last Musketeers t come into Australia as I haven't seen them for sale since but Swift caravans went up in price quite a bit shortly after we bought ours.
Thank you for your video, it helped a lot since I haven’t been there but have been looking for buying a property in brisbane. Just wondering how many km to walk around the lake like you did?
Hi Zhang. Thanks for the comment and apologies for the delay in replying. It's about 2.2km round the lake. We really like Forest Lake as a place to live, it's reasonably close to the City yet has it's own relaxing feel. If there's anything you would like to know just ask and I'll try to help. Robert
Hi , i am also interested in buying a house in forest lake but there is lot of rumours that its not very safe and alot of drugs and other stuff is too much over there . Since you are a resident can you plz guide me a little . Thank you
Good content
Thank you Joe.
I love your videos
Thanks for the comment. We haven't done much for a little while as we've been working on other things but have some footage to edit and put up. If you're interested in Queensland stuff have a look at our other channel Rob and Ali's Big Days Out. Take care. Robert
Hi There, What is the paver size you used? Great idea :)
Hi Ankit. Thanks for the comment. The pavers are 400mm X 400mm. 4 of them work really well whilst the umbrella is horizontal but struggle a bit it it's at an angle and the wind gets under it. Might end up having to double up on the pavers for a bit more weight.
@@quriouskoala4651 Thank you, that's really helpful 🙂
Thanks for the video, it brings brings back a lot of memories
Thanks and Happy New Year, glad you enjoyed it. If you're interested in other areas around Brisbane and SE Qld we have another channel - Rob and Ali's Big Days Out - where we visit places and events. Take Care.
Forest lake has to be my favourite place in the Entirety of Australia, now I probably am biased since I grew up there but even then I only have praise for this place. I also want to thank you for walking around this great suburb it really takes me back
Thanks for your comment. We love it here also and have no plans to move. Take care.
Question. The tall part that attaches to the swivel, the part that you slide the umbrella into, is yours slightly angled? Mine is slightly angled. Thanks for your time.
Hi Valerie. Thanks for the comment. I'm not sure. I'll have a look over the weekend and let you know. Robert
@@quriouskoala4651 thanks!
I asked coolaroo customer service and he replied “I THINK it’s supposed to be like that” not very reassuring…
Hi Valerie. I have checked and none of the poles on the umbrella seem to be deliberately angled. The upright could be a little off straight up but then again it could be that it's not sitting on the ground too flat. Robert
Can I private message you a pic?? We put it all together again tonight and it just seems off.
Can you please comment or record on how bad/good is the noise living just next to the Logan Motorway such Purdie Pl, Ashton Way (all those streets around) Thanks in advance, great video!
Hi Luis. Thanks for the feedback. As to your question, I'm sorry but I can't really say as we do not live on that side of Forest Lake. Given the proximity to the motorway I would think there would be a little noise. I guess it's like a lot of places where there is a constant noise though and you get used to it so that you don't notice it as much. Also, consider that the shooting range is not too far away so there could be some noise from that. If you are on Facebook I would suggest that you join the 'Forest Lake Community Space (Australia)' page and put a post on there. I'm sure there will be people who live around that area who will be able to answer your question. Sorry I couldn't help more but I think the Facebook page will be able to. Robert.
Forest Lake is a beautiful place to live. Can you show the lake and the shopping center and all the restaurants we have?
Thanks for the comment. I have a video of cycling round the lake that I'll put up and try to do one of the shopping centre and restaurants in the next couple of weeks or so. Robert.
Thanks for the video what a lovely day out 🤩😍
Thanks for the comment. It was a lovely day out. Plenty of places to cycle and barbecue around the Brisbane area. Robert.
Astro turf! Nice video, thanks. Is it still in one piece?
Thanks for the comment. It is, been down a couple of years now. The turf we have round the back of the house is worn out so we'll need to get it replaced but we can't get the same as the stuff in the video unfortunately. Should have bought enough for the whole area at once. Oh well. Robert
@@quriouskoala4651 sorry. I meant is the brolly in one piece. Apologies about confusion.
Sorry, of course, it's obvious now I read it again. Yeah it is still in one piece. The only downside I've found is that if you tilt it and the wind gets under it then it can blow over quite easily because of the size of the canopy. Fine when it's horizontal though. I have 4 concrete blocks on the base but may put another 4 on to make it a bit more secure. It's a really solid unit and we're very happy with it. We were looking at a fixed gazebo originally then realised that as the sun moved it would come under the gazebo whereas with the umbrella we can adjust it to keep the area in shade longer. Hope that's of help but let me know if there's anything else you want to ask. Robert
@@quriouskoala4651 hi, if you measure with a measuring tape is it actually 4m in width
Really? I'll give it a go. The box said 3m X 4m and it looks rectangular but I never actually measured it. Thanks
Thank you for your video. I'm looking to move there.
Thanks for the comment Cam. Let me know if there's anything else about Forest Lake the you want to know. Robert
