Hi, my name is Steve I love saltwater fly fishing, and after solely fly fishing for over a decade in Charlotte Harbor and Placida Florida, I still consider myself a student with a lot to learn. Fly fishing and photography have helped me recover from a great personal loss. Perhaps my videos will inspire you to Fly Fish or maybe they suck so bad it will turn you away. Not sure. Anyways thanks for looking.
Backwater Baby Tarpon on Fly
Fly Fishing the backwaters of Placida Boca Grande for baby tarpon and to my surprise I get more than expected. Perhaps the slam? It is a fun way to spend the day.

Fly Fishing Tarpon Boca Grande. How I use nature and Fly Fishing as a "natural" healing process for grief. I believe that nature possesses a profound healing power, and over time, exposure to its wonders can gradually restore the mental well-being of those who have been suffering. This story recounts a deeply traumatic event in my life, marked by irony and pain. I feel compelled to share it bec...

Fly Fishing Charlotte Harbor and the Rivers that run into them on Cold Windy days. Sometimes getting to these spots can be a challenge. Therefore, I opt for the kayak paddle board or canoe. Having those weapon in your arsenal can help you catch hard to get fish and sometime save the day or weekend. Never count out a having and extra platform to fish from. In this video I head to the shallows an...

Fly Fishing Charlotte Harbor Tarpon
Nice video Steve. I’m gonna have to start bringing my fly rod when I hit the harbor. You make it look fun.
Hey Steve my name is Brad Alden I used to fish your flats pirate tournament. I really enjoyed those time you created for me. And I’m sorry about your son.I never new you had to go through that. Life can be hard I’m glad your still fishing.
Hi Brad, nice to hear from you. Thanks for the kind words. I too enjoyed those tournaments, simple and fun. I am thankful that we all can still escape to fishing.
Great message and so sorry for your loss. There is nothing as heartbreaking to losing a child. I've been clean for over 30 years and fishing has been a huge part of facing life on it's terms for me.
Thank you for your kind words. Your strength in staying clean for over 30 years is a great accomplishment. Fishing has a way of helping us cope with life's toughest moments, and I'm glad it's been a source of peace for you. Wishing you continued strength on your journey
I didn’t serve so thank you. My wife succumbed to opioid + addiction. Helpless situation. You are loved man. Fishing, just being in the water… helps. Thank you… thank you
Thanks for your wonderful comment. I am sorry that you had to go through this like so many of us. The guilt and the pain are definitely washed away by nature, for me. I hope you are finding ways to live your best life.
Powerful messages. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching it.
Hey steve can i please ask what fly line you are using. I fish pine island sound , estero bay and just made the switch to fly fishing. I have a 7wt , 8wt setup and need to line them and there is sooo many options
I use Scientific Angler 8 WTF Smooth Amplitude Infinity Salt I have that on all my setups and love it. I switched a couple of years ago to SA and have found no issues for this area with their lines.
@@stevehallfloridaok thanks for the reply, i was thinking about choosing the same line but the grand slam taper with the little more shorter head. Have you tried that one yet compared to the infinity salt?
No I have not. I have had a few different lines and am super please with SA. I am sure any line they put out will be great. I have used some crap lines in the past that don't hold up to the heat. If you get that line I would be curious to how it preforms in the heat and during the cold months this year.
@@stevehallflorida yea thats what im dealing with, i acquired some reels with line on them and this florida heat made them sticky ,would not shoot ,and tangled constantly. Just a unpleasant experience for just getting into fly fishing. First line i purchased for a 9wt was sa amplitude grand slam smooth and i love it. Then needed line for 7wt & 8wt and decided to try the new sa magnitude smooth with the floating clear tip. The clear floating tip was nice but I think the coating on the amplitude is much better and smoother with less tangles. I think im going to do what you did and just put the amplitude grand slam on all my rods since i know its a line i like. Ill definitely let you know how it performs once winter gets here , hopefully it can handle our cold fronts and the heat
Good stuff man
Great video do you just get a a good looking flat and pole along until you see them roll or do you mostly blind cast ?
I like to find a flat and watch it for an extended period of time.
Nice one Steve
Thanks I love those spring snook schools.
If you don’t mind me asking. Where is this kayak launch located? Look like a epic place for photography
This is Bob Johnson Landing or Park I think its called on 41 near River rd. In North Port
Awsome drone shots. How do you get the featured places link in your description area?
Google adwords that the person pays for the ad on my video. They are targeting a specific audience. The ads rotate in and out based on the customer's preferences.
Looks like a cross between a maverick master angler and willie Roberts
Yea It has a lot of the older skiff/flats boat styling. The vintage feel is unique. Mark has always made great boats ever since his days at Maverick Boat Works with Dr Berg.
Excellent videography!
Thank you. I really appreciate the positive feedback!
Hope to get back on the Harbor soon. Microskiff will be ready in a couple of weeks. Just watched all your videos, excellent work!
Hey, Rick thanks for the kind words. Couple of weeks is prime time for the little guys!
Good video Steve. Is this North Port
This one is in PC. These are hit and miss on the big snook but there are always baby poons in them .
@@stevehallflorida nice what time of year is best id love to get a good spot to get them. now that have a gheeno. is there music of a launch or only kayak? ever try behind the new ace on 776?
I have some spots that you can use your Geenoe the areas in these kayak videos are kayak areas. I drag the kayak through the woods
Really cool video! Nice snook on the fly!
Hey, thanks for the comment. Yeah that was a complete mess, but fun. Those usually break off (on me) I can't believe I got that one to the kayak.
What kind of skiff do you have
