Forever Darling - I Love Lucy (The Pied Pipers Ft. Desi Arnaz)
Переглядів 61 тис.8 років тому
The amazing Sue Allen (Pied Pipers) singing on I Love Lucy from "Ricky's European booking" Season 5 episode 10 (Dec. 1955)
That someone can sing and do brilliant comedy in a language that is not one's native tongue is a feat taken for granted by English speakers. The man was brilliant.
A BEAUTIFUL voice,!
Desi was so good
He has a fantastic voice , I really love his music. 🎶 so underrated. He was so good.
Her voice was crystalline.
I've been looking for this clip, thank you for uploading! The harmony always gets me 😍and can't forget Desi the icon!
The guy on the right standing closest to Ricky, is my Uncle Allan Davies. He was a commercial musician working in the industry all his life. His Daughter, Debbie Davies is a gifted Blues singer and guitarist.
The guy on the right, in the checkered jacket, is my uncle Allan Davies, after whom I was named.
He is my Uncle Allan as well. I can't believe, at 80 yrs old, I am seeing this clip for the first time.
@@johndavies1116 Hey John! Well, he's your real uncle. My great uncle, but because he and my mom were fairly close in age, I just stick with uncle. Sadly, I only spoke with him as an adult a few times, but I really enjoyed talking with him... and I was amazed at our similarities, some of them just about creepy.
This is one of my favorite songs of Desi's on the entire show. I grew up with the edited syndication version reruns on tv, so I only recently discovered this entire song after getting the DVDS and watching the full length episodes in their true form. Absolutely beautiful. What a talent they all were.
Beautiful
i have loved this song since i was a kid
He was standing on a box.
This is outstanding. That great straightforward rhythm section.Pied Piper's original member Clark Yocum third singer from the left. Clark stands next to Frank Sinatra in the video-I'll Never Smile Again with Tommy Dorsey... The original start of Frank. I agree this is better than the record. Straight rhythm with little accent. The harp player is the lady on the left. What a beautiful song. It should have been more popular.
The pied pipers classic
2024 loving this forever...
😊😊❤😊😊❤😊😊
I am thinking Desi was the fire and real talent behind this duo
Their talents were different which is why it worked so well. Desi was an excellent singer and one of the best and most astute businessmen. He invented the 'three camera system' for taping shows which is still used to this very day. He ran that studio like no one else and he was very well respected. Because he treated people right. Lucy was the better actress and of course, one of the greatest comediennes of the day. They both knew and respected each other's talents though. Desi once said about the show, give Lucy 90% of the credit and split the other 10% among everyone else. Himself, the writers, the crew, etc. I saw in a documentary that when Lucy bought out Desi and had to run the studio, she appreciated everything Desi did even more because when he ran it, all Lucy had to do was 'be Lucy.' Just concentrate on the character and the comedy and Desi took care of everything else.
Desi Arnaz had a great voice
pretty song but just got sidetracked looking at Ricky’s feet….those are not boots lol lol
Just when I thought I saw every episode of the I love Lucy, this scene comes up. I don't ever recall this scene.Even though it says which episode, title, and year, etc. I'm saying to myself, maybe, just maybe, it was from her other show around the same time
This must’ve been a real recording session because this is exactly the way he sang it in the film released the following year. 🤔
Perfect harmony
Desi was so short. They have him on a box and he always wore shoes with high heels. You can see it in this video
He was 5’ 6” tall.
You're so wrong she wouldn't do I love Lucy without him
they always edit this song from the reruns only showing the last few bars. Sad.
Desi had such good musical talent.
❤❤❤❤
Classic Desi singing. 🎼🎶🎵🎤
It's amazing how different their voices are from the singers of today. Perfect harmony.
That's because singers today are obsessed with showing off the range in their voices. They're all over the place when they sing a song. The don't concern themselves with the beauty of simple harmonization.
Why doesn't anyone harmonize like this anymore? It's so beautiful. 😊
I know right
Because singers today are too busy showing off the range in their voices. Hitting one note and it goes all over the place. Which I don't like one bit.
MY GOD!! I'm 60yrs old these times n moment will never be again!!! Glad I was around to see it!!!!!
Look at how that gal looks at Desi. Humm
This is how it's done! One take, no Autotune, everyone prepared. They make it look so easy.
Yes, it LOOKS easy, but it was not. There was a LOT of rehearsing. Desi, like Lucy, was a perfectionist.
can't recall which episode this is from or if this is from the "forever darling" film.
notice desi patting his babbalu pagan god doll on the head.
ooo! I will drop my pants for you! and ditch Lucy for you.
desi? faithful? 🤣
Neither the song not the singers are good.
I agree 👍
One of the best episodes and songs
Look at Ricky, on a box, wearing platform elevator shoes with a Cuban heel. Lil feller.
First time hearing this song tonight on I love Lucy and I had to look it up it's absolutely beautiful. I love Sue Allen's voice so pure. I'll be looking for more Pied Pipers videos for sure!
Lovely song.
I listen to this song and it makes me cry that I miss my best friend pass away from cardiac arrest at the age of 40 and my father passed away from heart failure at the age of 70. They both are in heaven now, watching over me and i miss them very much. 😢😢😥😥😞😞
Was Desi really that short necessitating him to stand on a box?
He was about 5'9", which isn't terribly short. But Lucy was about 5'7" and would be taller than him while wearing heels, which is why he wore a short heel himself, which you can see here.
Yeah, Ricky did a great job with this…my ears go to the Pied Pipers…this is 2.5 minutes of pure beauty!! Exquisite harmonizing…Whew!! Gets me every time!!😂🎶
Agree !!!!
Love to able to see the performers. Also check out the video of the Ames Brothers and Desi Arnaz performing "Forever Darling" on "The Ed Sullivan Show" from 2/5/56. Ed Ames and Desi Arnaz separately take solos on the bridge.
In the early fifties I used to tune into the fan broadcast from Germany the DJ played They Call It Vanity sung by Sue with Les Baxter orch. And chorus .I was Seventeen then it stayed with me. I never heard again until I recently came across it on my IPad thank you from Glasgow…
They don't play music like this anymore good good music 💕
Love him singing, especially this song. It makes me tear up, like when he sang the Baby song to Lucy.
