@@devinteske oh I loved this mask! Fit so well I’d forget it was on. But then the company wouldn’t give me any documentation for efficacy for zinc chloride & ammonium chloride (the fluxes we use). I had to switch to a less comfortable 3M😭errrgh.

Oh no! I have a couple of ideas. If ya forgot about it for a week and it dried on the whole piece all crusty, then in small test spots on the back: I'd put a cloth with warm water for a bit and see if it remoisturizes it. Or, put a bit of polish on again, let it there for a few minutes and see if it gets the undercoating uncrusty. If all else fails, you can use 0000 brass wool. It will dull the solder a bit cuz it puts some micro-scratches in it, but if you plan to patina, you won't notice that. If it's just some crusty leftover spots in the corners on the glass, then you can scrape it off with an X-acto knife. Lemme know how it goes!

I did particularly enjoy the sound effects, however I was a bit miffed when near the end you say how important it is to tighten the set screw - I was hoping to hear some sort of whizzzzzing sound as it flew off the grinder, through the air, across the room and hit the cat! Eeek! I'm so sorry I missed your comment! ☹ The shiny factor of solder is going to be limited by the combination of metals used in it, but the type of polish you use and how well you scrub it can make a big difference too. You can use your dremel with a polishing head (soft floppy fabric kind) which is easier than rubbadubdubbing by hand a zillion times. But, you will have to change the polishing head out more often cuz they're little and they get shmecky pretty quickly. If you can find a solder up there that has similar components & quantities of metals to the Emerald or Ruby up there, that might help too! The Emerald is 97% tin, 3% copper. The Ruby is 97% tin, 2.75% copper, .25% silver. I like to use a one step polish & waxing combo of carnauba wax and whiting. Yuppers! It can be a couple of things. Is your foil old/oxidized/dirty? Are you using enough flux? And, are you keeping a separate container to dump just a lil flux in to use for each soldering session or are you dipping into the flux bottle? I'd stay away from cheapie random brands as they usually don't stick well & have a tendency to split around curves. Yay! Thanks!🥰 If you're in a small space & don't have room to keep it on your counter, then the tote is the way to go. If you have counter space to keep it there, I like a short tote or waffle grid to keep the overflow from running out on the table. I use several waffle grids connected to each other to make a 3 sided surround. You can use corrugated plastic too (the same material as those temporary signs you see in people's yards).

Yay for the shed space! *does happy dance for ya*😁 You can keep pretty much everything out there. I'd bring in the foil because of the adhesive backing (& always store it in a ziplock bag so moisture doesn't get to it). You'll want your glass warm for cutting (or it'll break funky) & soldering (heat fractures). If it's chilly in the shed, you can warm it up with a space heater or set it on a seedling or heat mat for a little bit. It doesn't need to be hot, just people temperature. Your iron may rust a lil faster because of humidity, so make sure to put some anti-sieze on the threads of the shaft so it doesn't get stuck.

It's the Creator's Brand Waffle Grid. It's the same as I use for my cutting surface, but I pieced them together to make the surround. I have a silicone mat underneath it as well to make sure no water ends up on my bench. Sounds like either your wrench or your set screw are rounded out (most likely the allen wrench...they're only made for temporary use since ya get a new one with every bit, so generally not super high quality metal). If you're using a new Gryphon Brand bit, you can get a 3/32" allen wrench from the hardware store or amazon. If you're using the original Gryphon Brand bit that came with your grinder (not a replacement bit), then you need a 5/64" allen wrench. The wrenches usually come in a set of a bunch of sizes. Let me know if you have any other troubles😃

The wrench used with the bit that came with your grinder and the wrench that comes with separately purchased bits are usually different, this is the case with Gryphon grinders and bits.

Just double check the SDS sheet on whichever brand flux you use to be sure. 😃

It's on the books, but til I make it, here's a synopsis: Ideally, you want to run it straight up a solder line on the back of your piece. You can also can bury it between two pieces of glass in a solder line. You just don't want to attach your stake to an edge bead only as it will pull off and boom crash!😵

I usually use 16 gauge zinc coated steel wire (cuz it's stronger than copper). If I'm doing a hanger for an ornament, then I'll use 16 gauge pre-tinned copper wire or 14 gauge for a hand sized suncatcher.
