The Joy Circuit - Kundalini ('93). Unreleased radio edit. HQ download of 12" available early 2025.
Unreleased radio edit of my first vinyl release, collaborating with my old friend Martin Reilly (Van Basten etc). Female vocal sample, by Alison my spirit sister, taken from a rework of a track started in '84 with Midge from Q-Factor, re-recorded by me in Brixton '91 and pinched for this in '93 .

I respectfully reworked one of the first tracks I ever wrote as a young synth obsessed teen (Dancers In The Distance - 1980) for the soundtrack of my nephew & his mates spoof short film a few years back & did a little edit for fun coz I always loved the tune : )

Found this trial video collage sat there doing nothing, waiting to be finished like so many other projects I started so thought I'd make it LIVE coz we could all be f*ckin dead tomorrow! Collaboration recently remastered from recovered 8-track tapes & many more to come. Originally recorded at Cellar Music Studio, Finedon, Northants in 1986. Released in 1993, I wrote & produced this track with DJ/ producer Les Adams (L.A. Mix) who sadly passed away in 2019. The track did well in the dance charts, made it into the national top 100 & was included on several compilation albums. One of the mixes was used on an Eastenders special filmed in Blackpool in 1996. I found a couple of photos of Les which I’ve included, doing his wizardry with ...
Close To The Edge - Film Trailer Edit 1987
Переглядів 2972 роки тому
Filmed at Austens 2000 (formerly The Starting Gate) Milton Keynes. I had a cameo part as a drug addicted pop star & this song was featured in the film Close To The Edge that unfortunately never got released. I wrote & recorded the song in my home studio (Cellar Music) in Finedon in 1986 & put together a band of friends for the film performance. Happy days!

Rough 2016 rework of an instrumental track from my first release "Cellar Tape" in 1983. This rework is dedicated to Trevor Clarke who introduced me to a whole new world that started with a trip to the nightclub Heaven in 1981.

Never heard it before but I'm really enjoying this song, its so feelgood and 90s! A very energetic performance too, fun to watch, love the outfits too. Is that guitar wah sound sampled from ABC's So Hip It Hurts? hehe
Haha! Yes Robyn, well spotted! I used it on several tracks at the time. Always nice to hear from you and read your comments. Hope all good 😃
@@Snowdome111 It's from one of my fav albums so I'm glad you used it, and thanks! Hope all's good with you too, always enjoy seeing the projects you've done.
Remember the good time at the gigs ❤ always a packed house
Wilf woods legend x
Where is Wilf today
@lyndathick5973 back home in Northamptonshire
This is awesome!! I'm happy you're uploading more of your stuff. Would definitely buy an album of your stuff.
Awww bless ya Robyn. I appreciate being appreciated 😊
I remember listening to this in your studio, and I was there at the Austens 2000 filming. When I played it I remembered the lyrics instantly, so clearly a memorable song. Weird seeing my old school chum Steve pop up at the end. Thanks for posting :)
Where's the footage from?
It was copyright free footage I found online many moons ago... possibly BFI?
Strange echoes, for me, of one or two of mid-80s Eyeless In Gaza...
Did you have a connection with Islington Music Workshop, Steve?
No mate, at that point I'd locked myself away in a 300 year old cellar in Northants for a few years, like ya do! :)
Like this. Nice edits in the visuals, & final few seconds made me hoot.
Thank you! It was made from ropey phone footage of a touring band I was in for a few years. The track captures that trippy feeling of being tired but unable to sleep in a vehicle. Glad you liked the ending, I doubt many made it that far ;) Cheers!
I like this! What a nice project to get to work on. Like the animation a lot!
Oh YES!
Wow! I never knew this existed. Pretty good recording, given the resources at yer disposal, but think what could have been done even with today's home studio setups. That said, thank heavens no professional 80s studio got their mitts on it - smothering it with 80s gloss & sheen would have done it no favours.
Thank you for appreciating my efforts with fairly limited gear :) I managed to salvage the original 8 track recordings a while back & will be "sympathetically" remastering this and many other projects from the 80s in the near future. I even found a third track that we'd recorded that I'd completely forgotten about!
This song is really awesome. Wish there was a better quality audio track on it. fun performance too
Yeah
Hi Stevie! I am so happy you have a youtube channel. I was wondering if you would consider doing a digital re-release of Murdoch Most Foul and your other 90s projects. I think a lot of people would rather support you than pay hundreds on discogs. I know I would :] Hope you are well!
So grateful for this contribution Steve. I have such mixed emotions about my childhood experiences and videos like this are food for my soul. Thank you ❤️
You're welcome Simone. Last year I archived all of my old 8-track recordings & at some point will remaster them. I found another song with your Mum & Richard that I'd forgotten about. The best thing about having the individual tracks is all the messing about & giggling that gets cut out.... thats the real gold. Hope you & yours are all safe & well xxx
Where can I get a copy of this cassette?
Hi Robyn, thanks for your message & apologies for the delay. The cassette was only a limited release & the copies that still exist probably sound dreadful. Last year I digitised all of my old projects from 8-track 1/4 inch tape. I plan to remaster them over time & make them available online. Please visit again for updates :)
@@Snowdome111 I'd be really curious to hear, I love all of the songs you uploaded on UA-cam!
@@Snowdome111 Hi Stevie, any updates on this? Also, do you know who owns the rights on the songs on "Twisted Systems Vol. 1"? I believe a small reissue would be gladly received by the community right now. Cheers!
@@dr.pekelharing7401 After months & months of remastering dozens of tracks in my spare time I am having a break but will resume next year. Regarding Twisted Systems the Murdoch Most Foul track belongs to me but unfortunately the only master tape that I know of is damaged. I would never be able to recreate such an organic piece that was produced on very basic equipment. The limited pressings were not great either so a remaster from vinyl is not a good option. Unless the other DAT resurfaces or I can recreate the damaged part of the existing DAT I'm afraid (& truly gutted) that it may only exist as rare vinyl & badly ripped mp3s. Your interest is much appreciated : )
@@Snowdome111 Thanks for the reply! Unfortunate, we'll have to do with the compressed mp3s I suppose. Nevertheless, thanks a lot for such a pioneering addition in the canon of electronic music.
Please tell me you have a full master tape of this somewhere ... this NEEDS to come out with a longer edit mate.
Cheers for the comment :) I am currently in the process of archiving/ digitising boxes of 8-track sessions from the 80's before the tapes turn to mush! I've found some gems & I'm hoping to find the original reel of this track but I could well have recorded over it. If I do find it I will certainly be reworking it though even if I do it could be limited as I used to bounce a lot of tracks together... watch this space!
Leo was my cello tutor from when I was little back in the 90's... I'll never forget what she taught me. Sorely missed...
I'm so pleased that you found this little *snapshot* tribute. I still get sad about Leo, but pleased I had this old tune (& the other one) & the photos to keep her memory alive :)
She looks SO different to how I knew her :) But i still recognise it's her!
Was randomly thinking of Leo today and found this! Leo taught me how to enjoy music and introduced me to Guinness, I miss her loads. Thanks for uploading these vids Stevie. Rob
Robin! She thought the world of you... really, truly. Her favourite pupil of a controversial, quirky, like minded family. How’s Anne? X
Simone! I feel very lucky to have felt a part of your family during those years, with all the laughs, madness and music. I owe your mum so much. Mum’s ok thanks, hope you and Sophie are doing well, I think I last saw you around 2005 on Bridge Street! x
Still have the Greengate DS:3 (keyboard, all of the software and MIDI-interface) and the Apple 2E. Everything still works!
I was wondering if your Steve Martin based in Northampton I think in the 80's and knew a Lrry Babs though don't what his surname is now who gave you a demo tape os a track recorded at Mikro Studio's in Milton Keynes called "Nightmare?" Which really was my demo he stole around 1984- 85?
You may be able to get it to work on a modern computer with an Apple IIe/gs emulator.
Hi Maggie! Thanks for your lovely response. It bought a few tears to my eyes because the whole reason I made these tributes is because I could find no record of Leo on UA-cam which was so wrong for someone that made such an impact on so many. I am so pleased that you found this : ) The club you're referring to was Das Bunker, & was where I met Leo, so our paths probably crossed! Take care : )) x
Hi, my name is Maggie - I don't know why but I thought about Leo today- for the first time in God knows how many years -and stumbled on this. I was at Nene College and was in a band during that time. I remember Leo vividly. So sorry to hear that she is no longer with us. I wasn't a close friend, but moved around in the same circles-not hard. There was a club called Das Boot, a few pubs and that was the height of it! Leo was distinctive, talented, outrageous and beautiful. And this is lovely.
Sophie, I may have told you this already, but I lost touch with Leo for several years & couldn't find her anywhere online once we had the luxury of the internet! When I felt the bombshell that she was no longer with us I made it my mission that anyone searching Leo Casey would find some record of her musical existence.... she was a star, a very bright star : ) x
Sophie I hope the tears are *happy sad* coz as much as I miss Leo these are very happy memories of my time with your mum, doing what she enjoyed. I'm afraid I only have the two recordings that are on my UA-cam page & the photos that were taking during that time. We did record another track anonymously with The Gunslingers after a party, but I've not been able to find the track as yet! There are a few photos from that session, will try & dig them out ; ) Much love to you & yours xxx
This is amazing, regardless of how much it makes me cry seeing it! Do you have anything else of her, music or picturewise?x
Very sad to hear about Leo, I knew her as Linda when she played the Cello for the Northants County Youth Orchestra. She was a very talented Musician.
One of our DS:4 customers gave me his, I think he had some fancy Korg sampler and wasn't using the DS:4. I still have that at home, but don't have an Apple IIe or IIgs to use it on!
This episode was repeated to death but being the BBC they couldn't do any branding stuff. I made a point of tagging the Greengate DS-3 in this coz I think its an unsung hero re the progress of 80's electronica. It was a *relatively* cheap option for the not so rich & enabled quite a few of us to get our heads round sampling before it became mainstream. It was amazing what you could do with a couple of seconds of sample time! I loved my DS-3 & its still in storage in my folks loft : ))
Strange that I hadn't seen this episode! Me and some friends made the sampler he uses.
Will hopefully get the other one done in the next couple of weeks @ Scasey x
Are there any others anywhere?x
Love it <3 xx
Love it ,cant believe we've known each other for nearly 30 years X♥X
