Much expected from a Sonic game. It's almost done on purpose lol You cannot go incomplete on every single game, maybe except the mania revision one.

Just inserting the games doesn't install the data. You won't need to reset the Switch, just delete the game from the switch, not archive it then get your save back, for this save transfer or cloud save is your friend.

This isn't really a new issue, and I'm not trying to be a smarta*s either. Any systems/games made after the 360, PS3 and Wii era/generation, will all have this same issue. You won't be able to play any of these systems, and/or their games anymore, after their servers get shutdown, and certain ones have already been shutdown. Unless someone's lucky enough to still own a working system with all required downloads, updates, patches, or whatever, of course. Anything after that era, an era where games had to actually be completed before being sold, and copies of games actually contained the whole entire game, will all be paper weights, and only good for one thing...collecting, and that's it/all, which is extremely sad.

I'm sure the extra data that you downloaded is just the whole stuff included in the Digital Deluxe stuff, like Mario Kart 8 for example you are forced to download the Booster Pass data even if you haven't purchased it, so, SXSG should work without that update

And this is part of the reason why I will never return to console gaming. For consoles you need freaking online subscriptions such as Nintendo Switch Online or PlayStation Plus or even Xbox Live to manage your save files and stuff, and on top of all of that you need to hack your consoles in order to be able to backup your games, while on PC its as simple as just copy pasting the folder directories where the games are stored or where the game saves are, and on top of that to play online its totally free and has better connectivity, due to better hardware available for WiFi or LAN as well as the software running the netcode, and for people with Strict NATs due to their ISP there are lots of workarounds you can do on PC, while there are 0 workarounds for consoles as in most cases you need something in between the connection to do it for you. I sure hope that as the new Windows portable devices keep rising in popularity, people finally accept that consoles are just not needed anymore, since the new systems basically do a bunch of the things that PC gaming has always done, just in inferior ways and behind a paywall for most features, plus in many cases such as with the Switch cartridges and stuff, you have to pay a higher "premium price" for a worse experience of a game, since everything will always run better on PC and you do not get year around discounts in the online shops and stuff like what Steam does, where you can get games up to like 80% of its discounted price.

Its always a shame when new release come incomplete from the get go.

To explain a little more about the low quality of the Separate Ways cut scenes: The original GameCube version of RE4 used real-time, in-engine cutscenes for most of its cutscenes. But this version of the game did NOT include Separate Ways. Separate Ways was introduced in the PS2 port. While the PS2 port is generally pretty good, one difference between it & the GC original is that the PS2 version used pre-rendered cutscenes instead of real-time ones. Modern ports of RE4 are based on the GC version, so they include the original real-time cutscenes which get the same boost to HD as the rest of the game. But they also include Separate Ways, ported directly from the PS2 version including the pre-rendered cutscenes as they originally appeared in standard-definition on the PS2. There has never been any real-time version of the Separate Ways cutscenes, so all modern ports are stuck with those original pre-rendered ones.

Once the switch online services are not supported anymore and down, you can collect seald physical game's and keep them seald, while getting the software from a "totally legit" other source.

If the new game was installed in anyway maybe uninstall and try the old game again and maybe don't be online...

The thing with Separate Ways: Capcom never truly commited to making Re4 HD, actually HD. Fans did it, there's a patch for PC that makes the game gorgeous and took ten years to be completed AFTER this HD remaster was initially done on PC. However Capcom never fully committed. They knew it would sell no matter what. And that~s the whole problem there. RE4 Remake had more love put into it than any port of RE4 Original and even most of the Remakes, hell RE4R have more love put into Separate Ways than the whole of RE3 Remake. Capcom is just like this: If they know it will sell, they will do little. They know RE4 would sell no matter what with minimum changes, they knew RE3 Remake would sell because of the hype of RE2 and they knew that if they butcher RE3R it would not affect a lot of their sales, but they also knew that if they butchered a remake of RE4 they would face way too much backlash, but in ten years from now, if RE4R is considered low res, and Capcom still knows the re re re release of RE4R will sell with minimum changes, they won~t fix any problems. That's how they operate, sadly.

I know, this sux. The WiiU also suffered from this behavior...but the 3DS didn't. Which is why the 3DS is based. I wanted to load my updated savefile in the 1.0 build? Easy, it just lets me in games with forwards-compatible savedata(Say, Hyrule Warriors Legends), anything breaking is my responsibility. However, I will give the Switch credit where credit is due, the feature to update a game locally through another Switch console is a good idea, making it actually possible to get patches without having internet as long as you can convince someone to help you.

A lot of people who hacked a Switch know this, the switch keeps a fingerprint of your games+updates to identify illegitimate copies of games and tampering with the files. Theres other headaches you have to dance around Nintendo has employed to combat online cheating etc but the semi bricking of legit games because of mismatching patches is by far the worst since it renders games unplayable for everybody under certain circumstances.

hopefully that problem will be fix way in advance for Nintendo switch 2 unless Nintendo switch 2 goes digital only, and the only purpose for the cartridge slot is to transfer physical game of nintendo switch 1 to digital

This might not be too big of a problem unless you need to deleted all save data to make sure it does not remember version 1.4.3 you would have to completly re-format you switch including deleting save file so it does not remember 1.4.3 however it might still not work since if you have nintendo switch Expension pack the back-up to the cloud can remember it anyway unless it back-up the deleted. This is a really big issue let just say you lose your physical copy, and can't found it and it is no longer available to buy physically and you wanted physical and the only buying option is 1.4.2 you buy it, and it is a game that work, but it does not work on your nintendo switch since their is no way to downgrade the update, and it will ask to update but it will not update so you can't play something that work because it is unable to update because you run the updated version of the game first.

a lot of people are wrong about games coming complete on release back before internet was a widespread thing on consoles.. i have a copy of burnout 3 on my ps2 that i cant play due to it somehow corrupting and wiping my memory card at random, and i have a copy of forza horizon for my xbox 360 that crashes the console at random. games are and always will be full of glitches.

This is one reason why emulation is so important. Dump your cart, dump the update files, switch version number at will. Ive been playing my switch games on my rog ally since I got it and I never want to go back

The cutscenes aren’t downgraded they are re ports of the ps2 game

7:10 so.... Here is my shake down on this. .. The game has a license it grants you per cartridge per system its inserted in to. Theres version data there and it by default makes a new game save file thats linked to that version of the game and its license inside the games NAMED folder. The lower version game does the same thing... but its not going to overwrite existing save data from the newer version cart. When it goes to load it sees there is a version gap and demands the (nonexistant) update & inevitably fails because one hadn't been posted to download. I am very curious if that sticks with your cloud saves and or if you were to have say a fresh Switch and download your account to it (saves and all).... if it would have the same results or if your able to clear the "error loop"

what is going on is the user saves data because it saves the version number that was last played. If you ever want to go to an older version, you must delete the saved data and the game update data.
