Travel to Paddle is my way of sharing as much river information from around the world as I can. I see this channel growing into a useful resource for kayakers, as well as a collection of kayaking videos!
Gronda laps - Whitewater Steep Creeking
The Gronda is one of Val Sesia's classic steep-creeking playgrounds. With a variety of unique slides and drops, it is well worth the choss in-between. The whitewater is awesome, even though the amount of water is actually tiny. With a vertical drop of 150 meters over 1.7km, it provides views that you will never forget!

Otona Joy Laps - Soca River Whitewater Kayaking
Переглядів 6164 місяці тому
The Otona section of the Soča river is full of fun, clean moves with low consequences. It is a perfect training ground for harder creeking, with a huge variety of moves between the boulder garden rapids. The main lines are fun with stylish lines to aim for but little to worry about for a fairly strong group.

Whitewater Kayaking Uganda 2024
Переглядів 2 тис.4 місяці тому
Whitewater kayaking on the Nile is still awesome for most paddlers, with warm deep water forming big waves for surfing or crashing down. The levels are good every day of the year and the wildlife is amazing. Then, over in the west of Uganda is the more recently discovered Sana river which is a much lower volume creek style run.
4 Whitewater Channels Of The Ottawa River Explained
Переглядів 3,2 тис.5 місяців тому
The Ottawa River is known mostly for the 'Main' channel, since it's where most of the big waves are and where the locals like to spend a lot of their time. While the Main channel is really awesome, I think it would be a shame to visit it and not check out the other three whitewater channels while you're at it. You could do all 4 in a day or two quite happily (assuming levels are high enough for...
How To Kayak The River Leven (1.1 - 1.3)
Переглядів 2,5 тис.5 місяців тому
The river Leven is one of the Lake District classics and one of the UK's most reliable rivers. It has a perfect way of combining great early-paddling training with fun moves for advanced paddlers too. The rapids each have their own trait and there is some real character to large parts of the river. This river is in a tourist hotspot in the Lake District, and I want to emphasize that this 'How T...
Big Zambezi Beatdown + Swim, My Worst In A While
Переглядів 5 тис.6 місяців тому
Last week I shared a video with some details for people wanting to run the famous boof line at rapid number 5 on the Zambezi. It is a a world-wide classic line and one of the major bucket list moves for kayakers heading to the Zambezi. It is big and committing with a huge reward for good lines, but carries a risk of being dragged into the hole on the right. This is not a life-threatening proble...
How To Style The Boof At No.5 Zambezi
Переглядів 9 тис.6 місяців тому
From the time I started to learn about whitewater around the world, the big boof line on the Zambezi always stuck in my mind as one of the most unique looking moves around. This line is big and rewarding but achievable for many paddlers who head to the Zambezi. I've put together a summary of the useful information to have going into this line, but make sure you scout before running! Levels chan...
2023 Whitewater Kayaking Highlights Zambezi/Ottawa/Nile/Palguin
Переглядів 3098 місяців тому
In a year mixed with frustration and improvement, 2023 was the year I regained my pre-2020 levels of confidence in a kayak and with more control than I've ever had. Although injury cut the river time short, I felt able to work on my kayaking properly for the first time in a few years. All of this was on the famous and fantastic rivers of the Ottawa, Zambezi and Nile. Big water has been a challe...

Brilliant video!! Thanks
Nice job!
Great guide thank you
You make the stern stall look too easy 💪
Dude that was great, thank you 🤩
Loved that! Thank you for sharing.
seeing u got the level six ace dryskirt, how is urs quality wise? I ordered mine this spring and after a couple of sessions on ww4-5 it got two tears already, are u having the same issues with it or am i just unlucky?
Epic video 🤙
Great video. P.S the slalom Poles get used couple times a week, they aren't abandoned.
My brother Jim Colaianne one of the original paddlers. Jim was part of the first Ottawa River scouting expedition that named many of the rapids. On their initial scouting run, after running a big and steep hydraulic, located in the center of the river, they eddied out onto a shoreline of razor-sharp basalt rock that sliced and instantly deflated their raft’s main front compartment. Jimmy suggestion Butcher’s Knife, stuck. Outstanding adventures abounded that season. He just passed away last week. and ran the rivers in a C-1 for over 45 years. Cheat , Nu , Gualey, Yough, Petawawa. I chucklee at the prices. When he started on the Yougheghney in the 60's the trips were $2.00 US. Keep on paddling
"Watch out for crocodiles!" Got it.
Nic little creek.
gg
🔥🔥
Nice! Gonna go paddling there in august, hoping the level will be enough!
nice edit, loving the multiple points of view!
Damn you got pitted.
Yep 😂
Sick drops! Kudos for helping Joe out!
Thanks! Haha yeah that was a fun save
sick!
An epic river!
what a save at the end!
Glad it worked out 😂
Ewww mad respect 🙏
Haha thanks
Nice edit! What was the level?
Thanks! It was about 150cm I think, although a few laps as it got slowly lower
@@TraveltoPaddle thanks
Meh, I had a far better line on number 7. Capsize at the top, do the whole thing upside down, roll up at the bottom into a massive crashing wave. Roll up and repeat once or twice more. Doing it upright is for pussies.
Hi! Great video! I met you there! We helped you once as your taxi back to Bunkerij. You liked my paddle cover! Have great holiday!😊
Hey! Thank you 😊 yes that was definitely the best paddle bag I've seen, do you take orders? 😉
@@TraveltoPaddle I could 😄
What an awesome place! ✌🏼💥

Totally living your best life, fantastic.
Doing my best to!
Awesome video dude 🤙
Thank you!
Ace edit! Milky Chance is a great addition as well ✌🏼
Thanks!
Sweet edit dude! ✌🏼💥
Thanks man!
Did I see Sadat in there? Superb edit. Love UG!
Sadat makes a brief appearance yes! Thanks! Yeah, Uganda is a fun place to paddle 😊
I suggest your option of showing the same river at different water levels with more detailed line descriptions. This will really showcase how the character changes at different. Levels as well as having some WOW factor! In college, my buddies ran Colliseum at 22 feet (in spring of 1995) - it sounded epic! I am half-glad I couldn’t make it that weekend! I’ve only ever run the middle and the main once, at 2 or 3 feet. I spent more time in the Jaques Cartier watershed before I moved out of range to California. LOVE me those Canadian gems, though!
Thanks for the comment, that's a good thing to think about! Yeah it would be good to show the change. Do you think top-to-bottom at each bottom? Or maybe McCoy's high-to-low, then the Lorne?
@@TraveltoPaddle, ahhh, you’re taxing my memory too much. I haven’t paddled the Ottawa since 2000. 😂
Great video. As a local why did you not just call the mini channels lost channel and lost of lost? Must be Ontario names or something Quebec side bum. I have heard them called that but Lost Channel sounds ominous. Did you enjoy Anvil?
Thanks! Now you mention it, I have heard the name Lost channel. I heard Middle to Middle and Middle to Main much more though so I guess that's what was in my mind. If I make an extra video about the two of them then I'll use the proper names 😉 I'll be honest, I did not enjoy my line on Anvil, I was very concerned about my head 😂 a silly one from me really, and since it was already getting dark I called it a day and we moved on. I doubt there will be enough water when i get there this season but I would like redemption!
@TraveltoPaddle the line on Anvil is RR beside the little Rock. I only use a shredder so the line for a yak could be more centre like a meter or 2 from RR. If your in the Area hit me up. I would love to show you the quebec put ins a and Black Velvet, Muskrat and a couple other water falls close to Fort-Coulonge QC. You up this season?
@@HeritageStacking left line definitely went too, I just messed it up! Definitely keen and yes, I'll bring around June-August full 3 months
@@TraveltoPaddle you going to be at Owl?
I'll be hanging out at WT. Black Velvet and Muskrat are the end of the Middle and the rapid below the takeout, right? Or are there more with those names?
Awesome video and explanation of the channels! Such an awesome place to spend the summer, visit and or to come and learn to paddle!
Thanks! Yeah it really is perfect for everyone!
AWESOME.! My summer place is a mere fifteen minutes from here and we love heading to Letts ... look forward to discovering more
What a place to live!
more epic videos like this one!
Coming up soon!
Thanks for the overview, great information. I'm super excited to go this summer.
Awesome! If you see a guy in an Exo Party Rexy it's probably me, say hey 😊
Great video! Summer here we go!!
Thanks! Looking forward to it!
I think individual videos on each of the main channel rapids would be more beneficial than high, medium, low water level videos.
That makes sense, so like a "Lorne" video that goes through the various waves and lines at different levels, but just focus on the Lorne, then others separately?
Great video Alex!
Thanks Monty!
Really cool, thanks for sharing!
Thanks!
A great walk through video with really clear guidance to help the beginner and more advanced paddlers to make the most of it. I've run it a couple of times and it would seem to me that you covered all the important stuff without overloading the viewer with too much information.
Thank you David! It's good to hear that I seem to be getting the balance right, I'm just figuring it out as I go so I'm glad the video is useful 🙂
Love your film making style. Super helpful & informative.
Thanks Paul! More videos coming soon 😊
💕 Wow💙💙💙💙💙💙💚
Thanks for the video
Thanks for the comment!
"and get an even worse line than before", why are you calling me out like this
Haha I was calling myself out! I was worried about landing in the hole with my brand new (to me) gopro pole on so I was over cautious and ended up smacking the wall twice in an attempt to get a good shot of the line. But it worked out OK as it was a useful demonstration of the right side not being too scary! But I'm glad I'm not the only one to make things worse on round two 😉
Good to see you on the Leven today Alex, thanks for the advice, great video
You too, nice lines on the weir we saw you on! Glad the video was some use 😊
Good to meet you Alex. Here’s our run from yesterday. Will be back at 1.1-1.2!
