You got a sale from this viewer. Im looking at some 300s. I'm building a 715gn freakshow for whitetail. I have my ranges memorized, im looking for double lung every hit, i was able to hit long shots with light arrows but single lung hits happened with good placement - that turned me heavy.

I agree with all that you said, with one caveat. The potential for blood trailing being lesser with a two blade should be a point of consideration based on the environment. For example, in some of the areas I hunt, if it's last light and you don't have a solid blood trail to follow, the brush is too thick, you're not finding that deer unless lady luck is on your side. One other thing to consider with heavy arrows, although the drop in velocity might only be 30fps, and the vertical drop on the arrow might be only an inch or two more at 30yds, combining those two things together has the potential to cause shots to hit higher, as the deer has more time to react. Higher shots have poorer blood trails too. My point of aim with every weight arrow is just above the white fur on the belly, unless of course the deer is super close in. Aiming there has almost always given me a heart/lung shot, with deer dropping inside 40 yards. Areas that are more open, and the deer can have the potential to run longer distances in any direction, and where the potential exists for a range of shot angles, I'll choose a fixed blade that will give me a passthrough with little regard for bones. I think it's all about choosing the right tool for the environment. Neither light or heavy, fixed or mechanical are right for every environment. Being obsessive about one arrow configuration will eventually result in a poor outcome.

I would wager like in a wild boar’s native habitat in Europe, and Asia; North American grizzly bears, and jaguars are the most ferociously capable of taking on a pig in its prime, with one documented case of a Siberian tiger, fighting a bore for pure dominance according to Wikipedia. My guess for the jaguar is, its powerful bite force of 1,500 to 2,000 psi, and if a grizzly bear thinks a boar challenges it’s territory with its strength and wrestling, even if a large bore is capable of damage with its tusks. A jaguar on the other hand, could successfully ambush any sized pig with some record of such in South America and bite the head like it sometimes does with tapirs. As for wolves and why we tell ourselves, the three little pigs, I found they typically target indeed small to medium sized ones where is a large pack could possibly take on a bore like how American wolves hunt bison. Grab the ham, attack the snout, wrestle with the ribs until the bore is thoroughly injured and the wolves get their pork feast. There is a video of such a wolf fight against a Russian boar. Besides hunting them myself of which I am yet to do, I have grown increasingly inspired with this prospect of rewilding our native Apex predators that can take on pigs like their native predators. A wild boars native predators with American analogues are as follows: For Eurasian wolves, there are North American wolves. For Eurasian brown bears, there are American grizzly bears. For tigers and leopards, there are jaguars in Mexico, central and South America, and historically the southwest. And for the northern boreal in the mountain states, California, and Canada, there are wolverines like Eurasian Wolverines. Let the conversation begin on these proposed predators that can take on pig sounders, or lone boars. As for the Canadian, super pigs, there is yet to be a showdown between Canadian wolves, grizzly Bears, and the Wolverines, as I described, yet the capable native predator for them as well, is of course the Siberian tiger.

One of the thieves gave a full confession while in jail for other charges. They investigator didn’t read rights on the confession so the DA dismissed the case. They never got the phone records or the so much as brought in the guy I got the stolen guns back from. And yet the law has gone so far over a damn deer 🦌. 🤷🏻‍♂️ what a fucked up country we live in.

I’ve always had expandables remain intact. That’s with crossbow. It wasn’t until I used 500+ fps that I started having blades bent up. No exploding heads. Not ever. This information will fill the minds of those that want fixed to be the best choice to match their gut instinct. If it blows up it’s a cheap head. Modern mechanical heads are an advantage.

I disagree with John and unfortunately general statements like this can drive a wedge between hunters when we should be supporting each other. My family is extremely busy with school, sports and helping out parents with their battles with cancer. During the week, most days we leave the house around 6:45am and my son and i get home around 9:20pm. Our weekends are packed with tournaments, family needs and chores that must be taken care of. We have made the decision to hunt with crossbows because it is more ethical to get a clean kill with something that we can practice with a few times before we got hunt the 2-3 times a year that we have time for. We limit our shots to 35 yards and recovery all of our deer. Best of luck to my fellow hunters regardless of your choice of legal weapon.

Dude is a great talker and I wanted to believe ol boy originally when the news broke and I soon after saw this video. Do you know where my spidey-sense went off? I mean when I heard it i immediately turned to my girl and said something like...."damnit, God damnit.. hey baby, I think something is wrong with our guys story about this deer. (Of course even though she doesn't care she likely asks "why??" Idk baby but he just said that the reason he's going on the big podcasts and taking interviews is to like, give the glory to god and i just reeeeeeeeally" don't feel comfortable, I feel like I'm being sold something." Not long after that I think he mentions not having his phone and the pics being at night. I'm not like a lot of people, maybe im slow but those facts weren't enough for me to say yeah 100% he's poaching, but when you combine everything my mind was throwing red flags and literally like telling me "listen we don't know wtf is wrong but something is not right!!!!" Desparately wish this dude would've just knocked on guys door and asked to hunt for 1 evening. If he would've said no i would've politely asked if it would be okay to sit without any type of weapon or ammunition. Imagine being able to say you came within 30 yards of a monster and the best story of your life!😊

I should be really upset, I should want him punished to the fullest extent of the law, I should want his fine to be so large that the chances of him ever being able to legally hunt again is smaller than the chances of him tagging a buck like that.... but I'm not. I'm just not. I would be infinetly more upset if another guy was on this deer and had been watching him for several seasons or whatever.... but that doesn't seem to be the case. It seems like someone got a big buck on their trail cam and maybe showed a few guys and maybe even sat once or twice but it doesn't seem like anyone else, at least anyone legally, was hunting this deer. So yeah he did something wrong. Yes he should go to the county jail for a month or whatever and yes he should have a probationary period where if he screws up, he's in a whole new level of trouble. With all that said though, *****FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND,**** he didn't hunt anyone and I can't and won't just hate the guy. I mean, I couldn't hate him if it tried. I know a lot of people are absolutely livid...I just can't be that person.
