As someone who is chasing 1,800 currently, I know how it must have felt to hit 1,900! I peaked at 1840, and have been over 1,800 three times, but staying there is the trouble. So it was good to see that you gave yourself a reality check as soon as you went over 1,900 and know that there’s still work to be done to cement your place there 👍 Having said that, your thought process and overall approach to the game is outstanding. 9:31 Taking with the knight is best because it pressures the enemy bishop on e3, which barely holds the position together. Bf2 is forced where you have Ng4 and taking the bishop or he loses knight on d4 and his position becomes too exposed on the dark squares. That bishop is the glue of white’s position. The whole position falls apart without it, if you don’t believe me try the engine moves for yourself :) Congrats on 1900 btw! Keep it up!

A lot of variables in this scenario* did you play as a kid? What's your experience level? What are you doing to learn the game? (Books, puzzles, endgames, ect) Are you playing long time control games and analyzing them? How much time do you have to spend on chess on a weekly basis?

Hi Voltz, I noticed u kinda struggle with black. I personally feel like playing e5 is not as good as playing something else like e6 or c6 or c5. Because then ur opponent has to change their plan, if you know what I mean

if your going to play e5 against e4 you have to be ready against the Ruy Lopez. This opening is a favorite with strong players. Study is key to handle it otherwise you will lose many games. Use the computer to help guide you but you can also use the black lion opening to get out of this opening to play something the white player is not prepared for.

You would reach faster if you study. Simply playing won't be as effective.
