Thank you for the advice. I’m just getting into chess. I’ve played some good games and have been watching people play recently. Keeping moves simple and making things less complicated when you’re unsure are probably my favorite things you said. I’m still putting the information in my brain so I put this in a playlist of videos I find helpful for my style. I look forward to seeing more content like this
Ther is too much bass in your voice which is not clear and feels like someone is talking into a bottle
@@AbhayVerma-z1x I’ve actually lowered the low frequencies because I thought the same before recording but I’ll try make it better
After Rook e1, kh5 is rook e6 not brilliant?
Thk 😊😊
Interesting video!!!
I love when you play 10 minute chess!!! Keep it up!
This is the no bullsh*t chess channel.
I haven't been playing my chess lately, so lazy, will definitely revisit these though
"The only time a move is actually an attacking move is if it makes the other player's position worse". This is genius! I never thought of it that way! That is worth a subscription!
Great tips exactly what I needed to break out of 1200
Is that not M1 at 17:17 ? So cannot take the pawn?
Queen captures the e6 pawn with check so no if that’s your question
@@VoltzChessi meant the rook move
@@VoltzChessnice videos btw. Most enjoyable to watch chess youtuber
@@hknoxx2694do you mean the queen playing b1 after the rook moves to threaten mate? If so white rook doesn’t have to take and just move the king to defend the rook
@@VoltzChess ah yes missed that move
8:37 Again h3 to stop Nh5 exchanging it for bishop then consider Qc2 if tactics are forcing queen trade, if not then Bd3 (Re1?) e4 and after have a long think about how you want the pawn structure to be like. If you are playing on blitz then just go for e5 after, always a safe edge. Also if black takes on e4 or c4 pawns, they gave up a lot of space, white has advantage already.
7:21 Bf4 is actually a great move for white. Black’s development is a big problem so they need to buy time to develop and coordinate their pieces. Whereas White should play Bf4, h3 to give Bishop and escape square on h2 so that Nh5 doesn’t exchange it. Then play Bd3 and e4, perhaps supporting this with the rook as well. We are not worried about black taking on c4. Also trading dark square bishops gives black virtually no winning chances, therefore white would be playing for a win or draw.
Nice work big man
Yo, you should make a speedrun series
Decent idea tbh
That was really good !
To get to 1500 = don't blunder a piece, that's it.
Yh you can make the same argument for 2000 too lol. But ppl need to start somewhere
The problem is that the more you climb, what a blunder is becomes more nuanced..
Thk man , i want reach 1500 this year , now im 780. I stzrt play with your series and im full focus on chess
you have a discord? im 1350 on lichess and am looking for people to help me stay motivated.
im not capable of thinking, what can I do to improve my chess skills :3
can't be helped mate
dude ofcourse you can think just always develope peaces and in mid game find attacks and threats to king and win endgame by simply beeing over time or winning pawn races with king or without opposicion
who you shushing?
shush
As someone who actually got to 1500 yesterday, I see as an absolute win.
Good work
Anyone here in 2025?
this is why people like witty alien can beat top GMs
Bro witty alien does too much fam, like he played hikaru in recent TT and pushed h pawns in the opening and was crushed like a bug. He rarely plays normal openings, like rarely.
At 12:25 I was screaming at you to play bishop c4. Why did you not play it?
Because the point is to go for attacks that threaten more material and are hard to defend by humans. I did notice Bc4 and perhaps I should've made that clear
your so handsome
Not as handsome as me 😂
yooo first, did you already check the video Living Waters Mario?
making the right attacking moves can also intimidate your opponent, sometimes the threat is more than the execution. Good tips bro :D
Please do more of these!!!! Well explained!!!!! I'm probably around your skill level more or less, and even for me, this would be somewhat useful information. Thank you, keep it up.
Well done to even get this far!
Great video!!!!!😀
Question, at 4:43, why do we castle instead of immediately attacking with Qh4? Would the difference after trading be that significant? Thanks for help!
Yes the point of the castle is to get out of the way of the discovered check by the opponents queen once the pawn takes. If that happens the queen would enter your position and you'll be the one being attacked
Funny you say your tactical ability is roughly the same as when you were 1400. I noticed the same thing in reverse :) I trained tactics as hard as I could for 6 months at the start of last year, tracking my ratings and # puzzles etc, and in general my results in actual games are the same as they were before I did that. I felt like I'd probably got better at calculation, but I hadn't really got better at winning chess games. It's also interesting that you've improved your rating just by playing 10 min Rapid with no increment, which is really close to what some people would consider Blitz (ie not much different from 5+5 really, which even chesscom considers Blitz). It's strikingly opposite to the Chess Dojo approach (for example) which advocates very long time controls, thinking very deeply about positions, and lots of self-analysis, to improve over time. Not saying your wrong of course! Your chess (rating) speaks for itself :) just thought the comparison was interesting.
Amazing video sir! People struggling to get their rating increased will find this video very instructive. Keep up the good work sir and be consistent! 2000 is not very far! ❤️
this was lit
Hope this blows up.
this is a really good education video. thank you so much. It really helps with learning the thought process and understanding the moves I’m supposed to be looking for. it’s so easy to tell people what to do but it’s like you wanna catch a fish and you got people telling them where to get fishing gear but not teaching them how to catch a fish. You can have all the right tools but if you don’t know how to incorporate them, you won’t catch a fish. it’s the same concept with chess. If you don’t teach someone the list of things to look for and the thought process… You can’t expect anyone to ever get better or want to keep playing! I was getting very burned out so thank you for this video
Yep I was struggling to find this sort of content when I was a weaker player constantly losing so I thought this’ll be useful for ppl that are where I was
@ very helpful thank you! keep making these kinda videos please!
amazing explanation !!
thanks for the advice. I think my mindset is always defensive when playing. I need to train myself to look for more attacking moves.
When i was 2200 i always was working about this thought process but tbh it ruins your chess as an 2500 player now i use my own knowledge and analysis of the position to come up with my moves, the thing you 2000 online players gotta work on is your knowledge of positions ur calculation and endgames
2500 rapid?
I wouldn’t know anything about the 2500 range but I believe up to at least 2200 this’ll be effective
the only thing i struggle with mostly (as a 2200) is just opening theory, i can get tricked pretty easily in the opening if it's theory since i just play moves on the top of my head. And now i'm kinda obligated to learn theory for most stuff just to gain more elo
@@Ayanchess Have you been playing your whole life. How long did 2200 take you?
@@hmmm3210 no i started at late 16 played for a year got to 1900 stopped playing cause didn't like it anymore for about a year and a half+. So then only returned when i was 18 and it took me 4-5 months (to go to 2200) n when i came back i was 1500 then i just grinded back up and idk i just got way better, played almost every day. The only thing that is missing for me is opening theory and pawn end games. For middle game tactics I mostly find good ideas
W new VoltzChess video
Thanks man
Really enjoyed this video, it's honestly really interesting to think about how your thought process changes with more experience and at a higher rating - I relate heavily to you saying that your tactical ability hasn't improved much since 1400, but I'd argue that your shift in mindset towards a more attacking style contributes to the improvement of your tactics!
Yh thinking this way certainly helped me find more tactics in live games
Nice video. You got 2000 soon

Happy new year, I think you were the first guy I saw on "the road to 2000" and now have started my own journey lol well done you done brilliant , looking forward to your new content 🎉
That's amazing man good luck with your journey :)
I got to 2000 online Blitz in about 8-9 months after I learned how to move the pieces, but it took me almost another 1.5 years just to get to 2300. Gaining elo is exponential, not linear. So, you can't expect to keep gaining at the same rate. It's impossible. Those last 50 elo is going to take you the same that it took you to get from 0 to around 1600. And after that (2000), it is a grind. Just enjoy the journey and forget about elo for a while. Also, keep doing puzzles, learn more about opening theoy and play other time controls for fun. Relax and enjoy yourself. After all, Chess is just a board game. Good luck!
If gaining elo is not linear then it sure wont be exponential, maybe logarithmic haha
@ Isn’t exponential the correct term? Logarithmic vs. exponential functions. I always confused the two terms, since one is inverse from the other. But, yeah, maybe you’re right. Point is that you can’t gain elo forever. There’s some diminishing returns in the process lol
Will continue watching you in 2025.
Great effort. As you’re playing e5 working on some of the gambit line theory would help you imo. Strategic games hopefully you’ll be on par, but I saw a recent game in Ng5 Italian where if you know your stuff as Black you can get a nice advantage. Nf6 over Bc5 in Italian game is kinda baller anyway as because of Ng5 it’s literally a pawn sacrifice.
