TLDR: i suck vs thief but i persist in trying. and it sometimes gives great satifaction in winning. ok, lemme address the 2 points: first off, in these clips i rarely actually "figure out" where the thief is going (SA daredevil). fire skill 3 and earth 3 "track" the target if he's about to go in stealth, and i honestly suck at using them. Dp thief duels are a perfect example of tracking since skill 3 does the exact same thing and "outplaying" the opponent is exactly timing it perfectly so you land on a stealthed opponent. Now in my case, most less experienced DDs usually try and stay around you and don't kite to the perfect range limit so you can actually hit them in stealth, better thiefs are almost impossible to figure out imo. blackpowder (pistol5) is a visual queue to where theyre stealthing and you can try to AoE that area since theyre going to have to dagger2 through it (good thiefs heartseeker on the outskirts of the smoke field so theyre hard to hit). Honestly trying to beat a thief is mostly just practice and trail and error to the point you get a feeling of what theyre doing and not, if you look at good thief players theyre just dueling each other nonstop till they get a full sense of what is going on in and out of stealth. unfortunately like every class youre against you need to know how theyre played and thief takes more due to the stealth imo. Regarding the second point, yes for new players it is a brick wall, BUT if you want to stick to the game you have to learn how to deal with situations. you always have the option to try and not engage / avoid the encounter (if the thief is dead set on killing you he will but annoying players are found on each class). Annoying class 100%, ive been chased down by DEs and DDs a bunch of times with 0 chance of beating them. Nerfs won't come imo, so its best to take it on the chin and enjoy WvW regardless, cause eventually beating that thief when he had all the advantage (cause in most matchups they have it) its a huge satisfaction and makes playing the game worth it, regardless of player ego. :)

ah, its a mistake i don't actally have that extra nfusion so i dropped expertise since i didnt know how to take it out XD (relic is Zakiros, the second weapon sigil is air, ill try to update it )

i think a well played darevil DP and DE beat any gear (cele or other) Dagger catalyst, for the rest its actually feasabe to beat. And YES updraft is the BEST SKILL INGAME lol, so good to land :) (shocking aura is actually amazing since very few players play around it and i myself find it annoying when mirrored XD)

@@Walking-Lootbag 100% agreed. So glad they reduced the cooldown on updraft along with all the other daggers buffs, and now that they fixed the bug on frozen burst, you can easly get that shocking aura every 10 seconds from elemental epitome. D/D on ele is the best designed weapon set in the whole game in my opinion, so much fun.

heya ty, odd nickname lmao! i'm actually pretty bad at landing my stealth, dagger 5 gives stealth. usually good to combo with f1 (pre-cast dagger5 + f1 on target in range and you get stealth), otherwise when you steal(f1) from another thief or some mobs (sometimes griffons or moas) they give you a stolen skill. good players land dagger 5 more easily even in combination with shadowstep or just timing it correctly.

true yet catalyst doesnt have F1... next patch it will, with reveal on jade sphere XD i do manage to rupt it 1/10 times on (thief) core sd, pretty satisfying til i get fucked 3 seconds later QQ

It's no secret that all anet devs play willbender in wvw. That's why it's overturned. Also it sells. So they will keep buffing it. Every since EoD willbender hasn't gotten a single nerf. Heck, core guardian hasn't gotten nerfed thus getting WB stronger.

@@marshal8358 nah its perfect I also like the popup that is saying invulnerable while getting bombed by chrono, virtuoso or mirage

tbh i think a well played sd thief could easily wipe the floor with a wb, considering also the unwarranted sd buffs. sd hits like a truck, plus the dodges. but i cant argue with the difference in wb's aoe damage skills. they're unparalelled :/

i like playing vs wbs ngl :). its just in the worst possible moments generally one pops on you and deletes you XD. or in your case hammers you into oblivion :)

Haha yeah I'm guilty of this. Me and some guildies got sick of zergs chasing 3 of us ganking and seiging, so we all switched to WB and nuked all their tail and all the zerglings running back to the fight. I'm sick of fighting boon balls, brings out the toxic in me

i struggle on my cata even 1v1. i do run a trash build but yes having that +1 from a wb is just kinda hard unless you go 1000IQ and manage to use terrain to separate and dupe em

@@Walking-Lootbag Yeah, even one is dangerous if they catch you by surprise but I can't remember the last time I lost to a wb in a 1v1, cata is stronger with the right build in 1v1. But having protected burst, invuln and then another protected burst, makes dealing with more then one of them almost impossible.

Exactly why I despise wvw dueling and roaming. Some classes can just reset the fight forever until they either win or the fight goes on forever because you are also playing some dumbass class with infinite sustain

f2p...i wouldnt recommend guardian, thief you can play this build or dagger/pistol which works, you can also play engineer but im no expert on the builds specially with the celestial gear nerfs, ranger and warrior could probably work but roaming is hard given the lower mobility than the other classes. i'm not really an expert in all classes XD dunno why i tried to give you other f2p classes to consider... thief is one of the best options 100% 😀
