Although they got a few things right, but they're only being implemented on brand new ships. And those ones are incredibly cutting edge. The sails were definitely not going to happen though lol
Old steamships and early diesel powered ships looked way prettier than these modern ships. Nowadays ships are just large, ugly and bulky apartments on sea.
Awesome. Sails can combine as solar panels, now that flexible ultra thin solar cells are being developed. The power from these vast flexible panels can be used to provide electricity to the ship and also provide auxiliary power to the ship's motors, reducing power consumption even further.
Me being an expert on Ocean Liners and Cruise Ships, This futuristic design is ugly as sin and it is already 2016 and not one ship of this design has been put out to sea yet and hopefully never will. The catamaran design would make the ship too wide and very difficult to dock at a pier. That is why practically all Ocean Liners & Cruise Ships of the past and present were and are designed with the mono hull design. Sails are not really useful since they to take up too much space on the top deck and would also block the sunlight for passengers who want the sunlight to get a sun tan. Going back to the catamaran design, it is not really needed to keep the ship stabile, That is why stabilizers were invented. Stabilizers are steel fins that come out from the ship's hull below the water line like wings on a plane, to keep the ship steady in choppy seas. The Queen Mary 2 design in my opinion is the best for the present and future of passenger ships.
YOU FORGOT THE LAW OF BUILDING SHIPS?! I HAVE TO REMIND YOU, NEVER HAVE A LACK OF LIFEBOATS! REMEMBER THE 'God can't sink the Titanic' AND WHATS THE RESULT? IT SANK.
I got claustrophobic watching the video, if I wanted to cruise in a steel box I would buy a bank vault and put it on a pontoon. When I cruise I want the feeling of open space and actually being on the ocean. I would never cruise on this
+gist4change a lot of people do they wouldnt sail on something tht looks ugly but i like it. as long as its luxurious and they treat my like a king then im fine
Jesus Rojas You despise enviromental people? I have a sick feeling you're eating hamburgers and hotdogs every night and morning homie. Don't let me speak how I feel about that.
Okay, I do have some concerns about this ship. Yes, it is very pretty and all, but I'm just thinking of its practicality. My biggest concern is that it's primary propulsion is from wind energy. You know, there is a reason we moved away from sail ships for larger and further traveling vessels. The same rules that applied 30-40 years ago stilll somewhat apply today. The faster you can get from point A to point B, the better. There is also a propeller system, but all she said about it in the video was it's "An innovative propulsion system". I'm curious as to what it is, that it requires very little energy to produce. Is it electric? Is it something else? What? I also agree with what other people have been saying. The design, while it does look sleek and pretty and all that, actually has very little outdoor areas. When you're outside, you want to feel like you're outside. Exposed to the elements. Sunlight and fresh air. The main outdoor area while is nicely worked into the ship's design, doesn't actually do this. It more seems like it would feel like you're in a large atrium. This ship could be vastly improved with relatively little changes. Firstly, I would lose the masts. I get that you're trying to be environmentally conscious with this design, and that's admirable, but it's just not practical. I would also lose the large atrium on the back of the ship, and replace it with smaller, indoor spaces. More cabins, and probably larger ones too. More entertainment places, more of a lot of the things that make going on a ship fun. The outdoor area could be moved to the pontoons on either side. You would get around the same amount of outdoor space, but it would feel like it's more, as it's split into two separate areas. You also get a ton more deck-space as the massive 15 deck hole in the stern of the ship is now filled up. Thus allowing to get more value for however much this ship will cost. I think the Natural Gas generator is a fantastic idea, but something that could be even better, and not require any form of fuel. Put a wind farm on the top of the ship. It wouldn't be obstructive to the passengers, and it would provide a completely fuel-free form of generation. The electricity from the wind-farm can also be used to power traditional azipod propellers, which are powerful, efficient and proven that they work. One last design change I would suggest is to put bulbous bows on the ship. This improves hydrodynamics of the hull by nearly eliminating the bow wave. Thus meaning less power to get the ship moving as fast, if not faster than it already would.
I completely agree with you, I don´t get why they only have that atrium-like area. Maybe they could keep it, but not as the main area...like on the Oasis Class Ships, it´s the same concept, but you also have other deck space than just the crack in the back of the ship. I would want to have a sun deck at the top of the ship, it would more likely feel like you are outside...and only 4 lifeboats seem like a poor number to me...we already had that on the Titanic, and you can´t tell me that all of the thousands of Passengers on the ship are going to fit on 4 tiny lifeboats :/ Maybe they could also keep the masts, but they would have to arrange the deck concept a bit different so that you still have open space on the top deck.
To be environmentally correct, new cruise ships should be powered by oars, with passengers taking turns in the galleys. I would try to get a job as a "drum" beater or a whipper. The question is, "How much do you tip the whipper?"
There is no future for cruise ships. The world's economy is due to crash, thanks to "globalism" and no one will able to afford ship "cruises", at least not on these behemoths.
It's 2024 we don't have these yet
And now it's 2024
Fr
Good for pictures. The sails could not move that ship even one inch. Pretty soon they would have to install the fans to power the sails. Keep dreaming
Its 2022 now. Y’all got ‘em wrong.
well they certainly failed at the “2020” part of it
Covid eh
Well, it's now 2021, and this ship is still nowhere to be seen.
Although they got a few things right, but they're only being implemented on brand new ships. And those ones are incredibly cutting edge. The sails were definitely not going to happen though lol
Is 2020!!
You better delete this first cars now this fuck you elon
Nice
He is gonna be the real ship 0:46 70 year later Liar
Hi. 2020
I remember watching this so many times as a kid 😂 still waiting on it!
2019 going 2020 and nothing yet...
Im here sitting whilst its 2019 and we've got none of this
2019 none of this
2018 anyone?
2018?
Still waiting
only 4 lifeboats
Old steamships and early diesel powered ships looked way prettier than these modern ships. Nowadays ships are just large, ugly and bulky apartments on sea.
2017.NONE OF THIS
2020 it's here
2021 September 22nd Still no futuristic ships
2017 and nothing has happened yet lmao
I'm sure they're nice onboard but I wouldn't want to be packed into a crowded ship with no room to move
Shame all the classic ships end up being scrapped and replaced by floating apartment blocks
I never travel in ship I want to travel
Its producing renewable energy and anti pollution
Harms_way, maybe in the future they will have the technology and more powerfull rudders the turn the ship from a giant wave or tsunami

WOW

IKR...well, maybe you can do some improvements on the design, the Idea is not bad, but I personally like cruise ships today more as well.
Que feos por dios
i want to go to the future
Look Nice
say #2016 if your watching this in 2016
#2016
I wish but I can't
2015 hahahahah
YOU FORGOT THE LAW OF BUILDING SHIPS?! I HAVE TO REMIND YOU, NEVER HAVE A LACK OF LIFEBOATS! REMEMBER THE 'God can't sink the Titanic' AND WHATS THE RESULT? IT SANK.
that was April 14 1912 3:45am
+xiaoheidan Shrink ray man, it's all about the shrink rays.
The wind propulsion part is possible, given that it is used on the Wind Surf, Wind Star, Wind Spirit, Wind Song(scuttled)
make one video of future planes.
Que feo

Screw these green people That ship is ugly as hell!!! Never would i sail on that thing
Dylan Talley who cares what it looks like
+gist4change a lot of people do they wouldnt sail on something tht looks ugly but i like it. as long as its luxurious and they treat my like a king then im fine
+Dylan Talley I agree with you and I do despise these environmental whackos like Al Gore & Leonardo DiCuCu
Who would see the ship's exterior when they're onboard?
Jesus Rojas You despise enviromental people? I have a sick feeling you're eating hamburgers and hotdogs every night and morning homie. Don't let me speak how I feel about that.
I like this ship design and energy efficiency and no need to use diesel power. I like to ride this ship when its out to the world. :)
With only 4 lifeboats and only one outdoor space?...have fun :P
It's 2015 and we have none of this.
3 years in the future in the year of 2018 this will still not happen

that ship will never come true i can be wrong but dont think so
Amazing Design I hope to see this ship sometimes in 2015
And 2015 passed already and it didn't happen
OMG !! That is the fattest cruise ship in the WORLD !!
