That would definitely be a challenge! You would have to have your big boy pants on for that! Have you experienced the ice up there before? Heard the locals burn tyres at the hairpins to melt the ice.

@@justus.genstef yes a totally different experience. I was in a stock unlocked 4x4 1.3 naturally aspirated with low range and road tyres. There was a couple of heavier vehicles that just kept sliding onto the inner apex

I get this question alot. As a boat guy for the past 25 years. I can say 100% Confidentially that is doesn't hurt the impeller or the water systemif done properly. If you constantly plow through sand it will damage the impeller. The boat hits the beach so fast very little sand gets into the water pump. But it's very important the motors gets flushed properly after doing beach launching. My dive boats impeller lasted 2 years without a drama.

Yes they do. When the weather is as bad as we had it. No taxes were driving! They were parked up at the top and bottom of the pass..

That's great! I totally agree. No dont need a 4x4, if the weather is favourable. And the roads werent washing away. If we didn't have 4x4 we wouldn't have made it up and down would have sketchy! We are 3.7ton and a turning circle of a bus!

Yes I've also seen 2 wheel drive cars going up there. In bad weather like we experienced it's a dangerous pass. That's why there has been so any accidents on this pass. Cars driving up and down that shouldn't for various reasons. So yes we thought it's a dangerous pass on the day we did it!

100% agree. But alot of the time we just play it by ear. If it's a popular place we try and book, but otherwise we just go with the flow.

SA roads and taxis are definitely dangerous. If you think this pass isn't dangerous then so be it... We thought it was dangerous on the day we did it and the numours wrecks showed us it can be deadly...

@@justus.genstef Used to tow my small boat (4.4m) on the beach with it too. Mozambique, Sodwana, Cape Vidal and numerous spots here in KZN. I live in Umdloti. The Subaru never failed to get us on and off the beach to spearfishing launch sites.
