    Nice video! As some other people pointed out, she does not hold on the paddle or the kayak several times. In a windy situation, this is very dangerous. When using a paddle float, it is better to keep the kayak tipped over because this way the wind moves the kayak slowly. With the kayak in that position, it is possible to maintain a leg in the cockpit to free both hands and inflate and insert the paddle float. Putting the pump inside the cockpit does not seem a good solution either.

    @hankb1604 5 місяців тому

    Rigid paddle floats may work for super athletic folks, however for the average flexibility or increased weight paddler, you better have an inflatable paddle float. Though slightly longer to deploy due to having to be inflated, they are easier to stow AND will work for everyday paddlers, not just those with advanced skills or super athletic.

    Interesting innovation of a “keeper” to hold the paddle shaft in position! I know some paddlers this could help - please, could you show those more clearly, or explain how they are made and set up? TIA :)

      Tosses pump into the cockpit.....That can easily get in the way of getting in the seat, get pushed to the very front and be inaccessible once in the cockpit, or fall out if the rescue fails.

    Does anyone know what the small bungee with hook end is designed for under the front of the seat?

    • @maxboo1

      It is to hold the seat back forward while transporting. It attaches to the other bungie on the back of the seat rest. That is the only use for it that I have discovered.

      I like my kayak leash, especially in rough water, because re-entry becomes a lot harder if I have to hold on to my paddle too.

    • @conniechipgodfrey3239
      @conniechipgodfrey3239 2 роки тому

      @@joefico8302 I agree completely. I always use a tether for my paddle. Even if the kayak stays upright, a small mistake such as having the paddle slip off when I'm eating lunch or fighting a fish could leave me stranded.

    • @robertnissenbaum
      @robertnissenbaum 2 роки тому

      @@conniechipgodfrey3239and @Joe Fico A spare paddle should always be carried on the deck. Having one means in the worst case, you'll have one if you let go of your main one. A rescue where the capsized simmer gets tangled in a leash is no fun, especially in big water conditions. If using a leash, I recommend it be as short as possible and with a quick disconnect.

  • @maxboo1

    Nice seat, however the rivet that holds the rigid plastic seat back (below adjustment knob) is a poor design. The one on my Riot Enduro 12 pulled out during use and quickly became a nuisance for the remainder of my trip. I replaced the rivet with stainless hardware (nut, bolt, lock washer and 2 washers) and it has never given me any trouble since. If you have this seat you may want to do some preventative maintenance or inspect the rivet often.

    • @Peeingstickymilk
      @Peeingstickymilk 2 роки тому

      Just got that kayak and noticed the seat being annoying to stay in place. The bungle that pulls the seat forward kept losing tension if I put too much pressure on the back. Idk if you had the same problem or if what you did with the rivet stopped it from moving around. Could you maybe explain what you did more? Thanks!

    • @maxboo1
      @maxboo1 2 роки тому

      @@Peeingstickymilk Mine loses tension as well. I have no remedy for it short of knotting the rope in a fixed position. I do know that if the seat back becomes too loose the bungie that holds it upright comes off the hook and the entire thing falls out of place. It is very difficult to fix while seated. The bolt I used only fixed the rivet issue and won't help with the tension. However, it was the tension on the seat back that pulled the rivet out in the first place.

      Both ways work well. J racks are super easy and support the hull better especially for a longer journey
