      Yeah.. I agree with you. I don't know the history on this quad. I don't really think it set out in the rain.... but I suppose it is possible. It could have been flooded... or ran through some deep water. With all of the mismatched hardware that I've found on it, nothing would surprise me. I think that one of the water cooling jackets got drilled through when somebody, previously, tried to fix a stripped out bolt or two....or three... which makes me think that it will probably need a new engine case... or at least one of the case halves. If that's the issue, it will be another video to make and more learning for me. Hopefully, once I fill it with coolant and fire it back up, I will be able to tell more. Thanks for the comment. I appreciate you taking the time to watch and leave some feedback!

      Thanks for the comment. Sorry for the late response. I can't say whether or not it helped any... but prior to pulling the axle... I sprayed some PB Blaster on the splines of the input shaft going into the differential and then moved the shaft around from side to side and so on in an attempt to get the pb blaster down the spline to the c-clip. I used a ball joint separator to pop one out. Though, I don't really recommend that method. I feel that I got really lucky on the other side. It came out relatively easy. I gave it 3 or 4 jerks and it popped out. Thanks for the comment and for watching!

    Did you ever figure out why there’s coolant leaking out of those bolt threads mine started leaking there

    • @doinitdunlapstyle201
      @doinitdunlapstyle201 Рік тому

      Sorry for the delayed response. No, I have not figured it out yet. I used rtv/gasket maker when I put it all back together. I have not yet put coolant back in it. If it is still leaking after I get it all back together or I am losing coolant and it happens to show up in my oil.. I will plan to make a video on it. Being that I'm not in the know on these things.... I suspect that the water leaking from the bolt holes is not a good sign at all. This atv has been worked over before... Stripped threads and some bolt holes had previously been "fixed"(drilled and tapped) and I suspect that whoever did it drilled deeper than they should have and put a hole into a coolant channel in the block. As I said, I'm not in the know on these. That is just me speculating. Thanks for the question and for watching!

    Got a question…..got the pivot mount and want to do a roof installation…my concern is wind blowing it of the roof….is this why you used the supports other than install the pivot mount directly on roof?

    • @doinitdunlapstyle201
      @doinitdunlapstyle201 Рік тому

      It's probably a bit late now and I apologize. My main reason for mounting how I did was to not put additional holes in the roof. If you don't mind doing that, then I would install the pivot mount on the roof as designed.. being sure to use all mounting holes and sealant to protect the mounting holes from water intrusion. Thanks for the question and for watching!

I will have a video on the front axles out before to long. I ordered new ones from east lake axles.. I actually got them off of ebay. Be sure you order the right axles for your machine. I think it would be fine, as long as you laid the dish down to where it was almost flat against the roof of the rv. Here is a video that I made that covers my thoughts on mounting it on the roof of an rv. ua-cam.com/video/D8vMbxbSuWc/v-deo.html My short answer is that I would do it.. secure the dish from movement while in transit or simply just unplug the cable to the dish.. take it off the mount and store in camper until I was ready to use it. I would not travel with the dish in the upright position, though... that's just my personal opinion and what I would do.

    i have a problem with mine same year and all. mine is overcharging ive replaced the voltage regulator, the stator, checked all grounds, and even bought a a/c to d/c ignition unit. But it gets above 14vollts sometimes even up to the 20's. Im gonna replace the stator again with a more expensive one and hopefully it fixes the issue. It literally melts the volt reg and the wires going to it get extremely hot.

      How do the magnets on your flywheel look? Are any missing/broken? Are you sure that it has the correct flywheel? I can't offer any suggestions on where to get a new stator as I haven't looked into it. I've heard, not saying it's a fact, that the cheap ones aren't really that good. I'm not an expert(far from it).... and I'd have to look at the order of the charging system as it is on the machine, then I'd check voltages after each component. To me, it sounds as though the voltage regulator is not working properly, but as I said... I really don't know much about these things, I'm learning. Hopefully, that helps you out. I appreciate the comment! If I can help, let me know. If you get it figured out, I'd love to know what the culprit loves. Thanks! Can you please show where the pipe attaches to the back of the dish? We'd love to install v2 rectangular dish on the roof of our popup truck camper. When driving, with the unit powered off, we're hoping we can use the Pivot Mount to lay the dish flat on the roof (strapped snugly against a clean, flat rubber mat to avoid scratches and reduce vibration). It would reduce wind resistance and minimize our roof clearance height. When arrive at camp, we'd then manually loosen the "pivot" arm and raise it to 90º; power on starlink; and let it find the satellites. BUT... it seems that "at rest" the dish is on a significant angle from the pipe? The Pivot Mount itself seems to come with the female mounting socket lying flat/parallel with the base(?) Can the Dish & Pipe lie flat as well? We understand that the dish gets stowed in whatever direction/angle it was last facing(?). With dish powered off, can one manually move the dish so it lies flat on the pole? If not, can we replace the pipe with a shorter one that does lie flat to the dish? When folded "flat", how much does the highest point of dish stick up (ie, re: roof clearance lost)? Also, how is the Dish's pipe attached to the Pivot Mount? Will it stay attached at 80mph and/or bumping on washboard roads? We also understand that the "knob that secures the pivot mount at different angles has a plastic piece that moves the metal gear wheel." So that it doesn't break, perhaps we need to look at using an all metal flagpole mount (with teeth), if we can find a big enough diameter one.(?) Anyone make a <75ft cable? (we'd love to permanently wire it through our camper roof, so we need a relatively short run cable - happily, at least rectangular lets us detach the cable from the dish now. Now we can get shorter cable - or specs to make our own...) Lastly, have you seen a 12V power adapter option yet (we'd rather avoid 12V - 110V - 12V wastefulness)? Thanks! So very exciting!

      I watched the reply to your questions and was interested in the 'laying flat' part. It seems like in stow mode that the angle of the dish is not controllable, so you can't fold it flat towards the roof. I guess as it's now one year later you have some experience you could share, as I'm now in the exact same situation as you were one year go :)
