I use to be an Aircraft Maintenance Manager/DOM for a corporate flight department in the Cleveland OH area. After working on aircraft for more than 27 years I figured it was time to get my pilots license. Of course I'm starting with my PPL and we'll see how far I can take it.
Please consider following me on my flight training journey.

Yet another gyro! Some planes must have had half a dozen of them.
Ain't vectors cool? So are cross vectors. Right hand rule and all.
A magnet in a glass tube?
damper.
@@5695q No matter how perfect it is; There is a high probability of air escaping between the glass tube and the black cylinder. I don't think it's a damper
@@ahmetizmir1081 It's more or less a dash pot, only there to cushion and prevent the gyro from tumbling and slamming into the stops damaging the jeweled bearings.
@@5695q If so, no problem. I thought that piston moved the indicator on the front. Thanks.
what high school has an aviation class??
Davis Aerospace and Maritime High School in Cleveland OH. The program allows some students to graduate with a PPL.
Indeed, the Diamond Aircraft Company expanded general aviation to the next level. Just see both DA42 VI, DA50 RG and DA62.
Уродливей прибора не видел. Подшипники которые там стоят, просто дерьмо. Через некоторое время он просто останавливается. Ремонт не возможен по причине невозможности достать оригинальные опоры, с внешним ребром.
That is so cool! Love analog instruments
I always thought a turn coordinator shows the rate of turn ie how big of circle you're turning, along with the bank angle. I was wrong, those 4 marks on the side of the little plane are not bank angles. I guess you have to look at the attitude indicator for bank angle.
The level marks are wings level, the lower marks represent the bank angle needed for a standard rate turn of 2 minutes. sliding the instrument on the table doesn't represent the true action of the gyro in flight. If he just rolled it on the table to line up the marks he would have been correct.
@@5695q Thanx a lot for the explanation, so the pilot has to try and match up the bank angle to standard rate of turn? I don't know about rolling but sliding the instrument, he's also turning it, right?
Yes, but "how" does it work?
Gyro spins and as you bank the gyro doesn't bank. The gyro cage banks and in turn pushes on a lever connected to the little airplane making it show a bank.
It is displaying the rate of yaw, not bank. 3 degrees per second standard rate turns

Make another where you roll it
Your flying my favorite airplane. We should go up together some day.
Too bad thats not my airplane. The DA40NG is one of the best planes I've flown. The non profit I work has a 1976 Piper PA-28-140 Cherokee and looking to get a Cirrus SR20.
Awesome.
Are you based out of CHS?
No I am not. I was down there at CRAFT for training.
Nice, but I would've appreciated seeing how it responds to bank also, because that's where the confusion usually arises.
The bank indicator is just a ball on a tube, just bank the instrument and it will move
@@pedrosabino8751 That's not what I was asking about.
@@tkorte101 oh i get it now
I was confused because he's just rotating the device like that, but that flat left to right motion is akin to only using rudder while the indicator shows banking. Is that distinction what you're talking about?
Is that 24v DC?
It’s 14v DC
@@edessa99 thanks
Neat
I'm here before it goes viral
Thats Cool
Very nice. Thank you for posting.
Nice Job
What a great morning.
Great shot of your buddy flying by.
Awesome PIP.
Nice Landing
Fantastic work!
Thank you.
Love this
Good to see you flying again
Thank you Todd. May be flying your way one day next week
Very cool video! My home field and I can't believe I see my boat in on A dock at 55th st. Marina. I was probably checking out your final.
Thank you. I am almost done redoing the interior of my buddies Mooney and should be done this week with the annual. I am about to start flying for my instrument rating.
how long is the runway?
If I remember correctly it's 4300' long and 70' wide.
fantastic vid!
Thank you.
I love the tail cam view!
Thank you. Camera is Runcam 2 4K
This is the Airport that My EAA chapter is located at. let me know next time you fly in. Maybe I can get some footage.
It may be a while. I am no longer part of that particular club but still maintain the Cherokee. I will continuing my IFR training in a Mooney that is going in next week for a full Dynon panel upgrade.
How much did it cost to restore such a thing?
I donated my time. Parts were around $15500 but I dont have the exact number. I did not order or pay for the parts. I just provided part numbers. If I had to charge labor it would have be over $30K. I still continue to donate my time as needed to keep the aircraft flying for the High School.
I'm so jealous, Lolz!!!
A flight you will never ever forget.
That brings back memories Lolz!
WOW AWESOME VIEW
Thank you. It was amazing. I think I'll try to get for early morning flight in and get some better shots.
Niceeeee!
The view seemed like I was in the plane with you. I hope to be working out of BKL soon!
Me too brother
Love the camera angle Ioannis! Great to see this bird complete and making flights again! Nice work to you and Mike H for making this happen.
Thank you. It was fun. I had one of the Davis kids with me. Showed him just some basic stuff on ForFlight. One of my friends with a 1963 Mooney M20D flew out and met us. Good times
Nice.
Thank you but not my landing. I was recording this time.
How many airstrips/runways are lined with palm trees and colorful, leafy, flowering shrubs. How nice. Oh, and that was an excellent landing.
Thank you, but I am only the mechanic for airplane and I was just on for the ride. It is a beautiful airport to land at but a bit challenging.
Looked like some challenging cross winds. Nice centerline control on the last attempt.
Nice perspective. Must have been the pilot that stopped short. Surely it was not the mechanic directing them.
Great to see you and the plane at 7G8 yesterday! Looks and sounds like it’s running great.
Great Job, I love how you put the camera by the window, and I saw most of Ocean Reef, whereas in most other landings, I only see the cockpit. Awesome!
What a great story! Getting the airplane in the air seemed only to be part of the story. The real story seems to be about men like Mike & Ioannis donating their time, skills and money to help youth learn skills to make a living that may not otherwise get a chance to learn.
Nice landing!!
Nice work Ioannis! Let me know if you want to borrow any GoPro stuff to record audio and in cockpit views.
Awesome work! So glad you guys rescued this airplane and got it in the air after so many years of not flying!
Great to se it fire up. That’s a culmination of A LOT of hard work!
