Both sound like fine guitars. Beautiful touch you have! Would love to hear the Atkin "Nineteen".

I prefer the atkin over the martin. It is because i own both of them and i have spent alot of time playing them. I own the custom black maple lg 47. It is light weight ,resonate redponsive,and the playability and set up is perfection and consistent,and stable.

Gibson hands down here.

Gibson's tone is more complex.

If you want Gibson sounds get a Gibson, if you want a Martin sound get a Martin!

Came for the Atkin, stayed for the song. Didn't know John Moreland: thank you for the discover. By the way: both guitars are amazing. The 000... is the 000-18, 'nuff said. The Atkin is one the the best alternatives to a Gibson, quite better than a standard L-00. Love them both. Thank you, Mike

I don’t have a Martin but I have 2 acoustic Gibson. The comments make me wanna stop selling my L-00 standard. 😅

Both sound great. I've never heard that song, but it's beautiful. I think the Gibson sounds more "present", for what that means to you. The notes are coming at you, whereas the Martin sounds a little more like the notes are coming from farther away, or being generated from the air in the room. I think the Gibson sounds a little sweeter for this style of play too. I bet the Martin would be better on songs with a lot of strumming.

Both these guitars sound lovely to me.. The sound of the L-00 is amazing though! Those mids are ringing out.. I've just picked up a used L-00 Studio Walnut, have tried a few small bodied guitars before, none of the were as balanced as this one. My choice for fingerstyle now for sure.

I have an L-00 and a 0-16NY. They both sound great, but they both sound different. Fingerstyle the 0-16NY gives a full, rich sound, even when tuned to drop D tuning, which is surprising for such a small bodied guitar. It has a full and pleasant sound. The L-00 has a more lyrical sound, and, of course, the L-00 can go up the neck a little higher. The L-00 really sings with played either finger style or with a pick, but I would never consider playing the O-16NY with a pick. I wouldn't even put my pinky on the top. So the L-00 is more versatile and can fill a room with sound if necessary. I traded away my OM-28V and my Yairi classical guitar to acquire the O-16NY and the L-00. Although the O-16NY seems like a lesser guitar on paper than the OM-28V, I have no regrets. The L-00 is a better sound to my ear than the OM28V and is easier to play. And nothing can beat the O-16NY fingerstyle. Both are keepers.

Absolutely beautiful on both guitars! What is the Atkin's neck like? I played a lovely 000-18 recently but alas the MLO neck doesn't work for me...
