But… I’ve found my hip has unfortunately been getting worse and worse recently and have been reaching for my full fat more and more to save the pain!! I am gutted! Genuinely gutted and whoever buys this bike will have the most amazing time! #bikeforsale #mondrakerbikes #mondrakerneat...

    Whats full fat ?

    • @MyWelshLife
      @MyWelshLife 2 місяці тому

      A full size ebike. This is classed as a super light at 18kg and smaller motor. A full fat is a full power ebike with 85-90nm torque and larger batteries..

    Hello Nat, being an actual owner I’d really like your opinion. I’ve been considering a crafty XR but heard the whiney Bosch motor on reviews and it put me off. What made you change? I’ve not been about to get a TQ demo yet but recently tried the specialised SL 1.2 and that was fine power wise. What do you see as the pro’s and con’s between both your Mondrakers? Thanks in advance.

    • @MyWelshLife
      @MyWelshLife 7 місяців тому

      Hi. Thanks for replying. This is the reason I posted these videos as I know this is a question many will ask. So I haven’t changed bikes. I am lucky enough to have both. I still own and love my crafty XR but wanted something lighter for bike park days and the days where a huge 750wh battery was not needed. So first off, I am a massive fan of the Bosch motor. I’ve had 5 e-bikes now all with the gen 4 motor. Ranging from my first Orbea Wild, my Whyte and my husband and sons bikes and through to my current crafty. The noise doesn’t bother me at all. My son has the Kenevo SL with the Marle motor which you said you like and that to me is much noisier than my Bosch. Welwyn we are riding side by side I can hear his motor over mine. Ofcourse, the TQ motor is silent so if it’s a noise factor that bothers you, the TQ wins hands down! The Mahle and the TQ has less torque and max output power compared to the full fat Bosch gen 4 so again, it depends if you want full on speed and power laps or if you like to feel you are putting the effort in too :) It’s hard to compare my mondrakers as they are so different. I would say if you are looking for something with some good power but still like the feel of a manual bike then the Neat is for you. If you want big power rides where the bike takes you up those mountains effortlessly then don’t be put off by the noise of the Bosch as I feel it’s minimal compared to other motors that I have ridden or ride with. You won’t go far wrong what ever you choose with the mondraker but decide the type of riding you want to do first and then decide purely on that rather than the noise.

      @@MyWelshLife many thanks for the advice. For me it’s actually more important how the bike handles when pointing downhill. Does the lightness of the Neat have it or the Ohlins of the XR make for better descending?

    @JULKEmtb 9 місяців тому

    Hi, thx for the heads up on this one. I'm considering this bike, but am not very sure about the TQ motor.. 🤔 How is it holding up with that 50 nm? Does it have enough punch for steep long climbs? It's a very nice bike, enjoy it! :)

    • @MyWelshLife
      @MyWelshLife 9 місяців тому

      Thank you for your comment. I guess, the only thing I can say to you is try and find one to hire/test. It's a very different experience to that of a full fat Bosch motor etc... I don't think the less torque makes a huge difference as I can get up the same stuff on both the Neat and the Crafty, however, when you put your foot down on the Bosch motor you can feel the motor working for you whereas on the Neat with the TQ motor, you just feel like its ALL you that's putting in the work as its a far more natural feel. The cadence is what is key on the TQ. Get those legs spinning and it will give you peak power of 300W over the 600 a Bosch will provide

    How's the bike going for you?

    • @MyWelshLife
      @MyWelshLife 9 місяців тому

      Absolutely brilliant. I enjoy riding the Neat over the bigger full fat at the trail centres. A few things I have learnt along the way... The battery isn't easy to swap over so I only use the 2nd battery for trail centre days when I have help to switch batteries over. I'm currently sourcing an extender to increase my daily rides that little bit further which is better that swapping batteries mid ride. The bike also rides great when I'm out of battery. I rode 5 miles home the other day from my loop and could easily pedal without assistance. Not something I could do on the Crafty. But it will get up as steep as the crafty will and no front end lift due to geometry so feels easier to climb on. Going down, it doesn't go where it wants like the full fats, you can manoeuvre it where you want it to go but of course, is a lot more twitchy/playful on the looser stuff

    Nice little video Nat. Just a quick note. The RR weight is actually 18.3kg/19.2kg with the battery extender fitted. The RR SL weight is 17.9kg/18.8kg Inc Battery Ext. So, compared to the bosch cx the TQ needs alot more pedal input/spinning before you can feel it helping/working ?

    • @MyWelshLife
      @MyWelshLife 11 місяців тому

      Yeah... 17/18kg... It's SO LIGHT!! It's a bit like turbo on the Bosch. Get the cadence up and it supports you a lot more but yes... Cadence is definitely what powers you but make no mistake, I am keeping up with the full fats on this bike (when they aren't in turbo haha). What takes a little getting used to is the trails. DH no problem but X Country/Enduro where there are pedally sections, you have to think a bit more! You have to make sure you are in the right gear like you would with a manual. Things where the full fat could power you out. This is why the X Country trail I did in Hopton, I ended up walking a little more than I'd like because I kept stalling!! haha...

      Colour is certainly a factor! I bought without seeing any of the colours in real life but for me the AXS was a game changer as I have lost the use in my thumbs recently and struggling on a cable changer! I haven't seen the bronze/black up close but honestly, this colour is absolutely amazing! Would I pay the extra for the RR SL? Probably not as I can't see any benefit for me really.
