I guess it says something about the quality of the drives this year that Carlos' win in Australia two weeks after appendicitis surgery wasn't even mentioned as a contender... 😅 Anyway, I always enjoy the LB awards! See y'all next season
I love when you all get the giggles! 🤭 Merry Christmas from across the pond in Canada 🎄
Damn Harry...that Belgium beer looks good. Keep it up boys...and 'ello Clives.
51:48 interesting that you chose Charles for the driver of the year because of his consistency, completely ignoring the fact that Max never finished below 6th (excluding the Aus DNF) despite having the 3rd, sometimes 4th, fastest car on the grid…. Like having a car that cannot catch a Haas in the sprint and then a day later putting it on pole…
24:07 drive of the season to GR in Belgium is just icky…. Max in Brazil is literally one of the best drives of all time.
Clives is cringe, love you guys but no. Just no.
How can you miss the Brazil radio about the fastest lap. I believe it was either Lewis or Charles informing about the fastest lap with the response: forget it, it is way too fast
How can you go for Silverstone as the race of the year? I can’t even remember any highlights. Give me Brazil as an epic race that clearly highlighted the strengths and weaknesses of the title contenders
All of Canada 🇨🇦 thanks you!!

GET IN THERE CLIVES!!! YOU THE MAN!!
LETS GOOOOO!!
All this talk about Lewis will age like milk when next year result is waaayyyyy better than 2024.
Some interesting facts for the top 2 drivers in this years championship that should put expectations of Liam into perspective: 1. Max wasn't the #1 Red Bull Driver until his 4th full season in F1 2. Norris didn't have a single win until his 6th season in F1, in his first 2 seasons, he only had 1 podium! A realistic benchmark for a rookie doing a decent job in a decent car was Piastri's 2023 season, when he came 9th in the championship. That included 2 podium results. At the end of last season the Red Bull was behind all of Ferrari, MacLaren and Mercedes, as the 4th fastest car.
Lawson was on Tsunoda's Pace from Day One - it took Yuki three years to get to that pace. So experience hasn't a lot to do with it. Horner has now said that while Tsunoda's qualifying times were marginally quicker - hundreths oif a second - Horner says data showed Lawson's race pace was quicker - race pace wins races. And Lawson was driving on tracks he had never seen before, so qualifying he was probably still learning the track. - it was Yuki's fourth season on those tracks. I reckon Lawson show's real potential. Your statements that Red Bull has somehow failed when you haven't seen the data is just silly. Yes it is going to be tough for Lawson racing against Max - but there is a reasonable chance a lot of people will be eating their words in a few months imo.
One thing I did notice about Liam is how well he looks after his tyres. I can't remember which race it was that he stayed out 10 plus more laps than most. (Notably, Verstappen.) And he was still on the pace. I reckon Lawson could be Verstappen's Bottas. Super excited to see Bottas back in Mercedes. He will be a great example for Liam to watch and learn from while racing him.
At Texas he was lapping faster on old hard tyres than Yuki on fresh hard tyres, how he came out of the pits ahead of him after starting 19th.
I'm thoroughly going to enjoy seeing Liam fail hard. His little fangirls will scream i'm a hater but even they can not deny RB's second seat drama. Liam's average points per race (0.66) are even lower then Checo's last 8 races (1.0) and barely half of what Yuki scored (1.25). Funny how nobody wants to talk about actual race results when it comes down to it, they all wish to deny reality and want to claim Liam would be better without having anything except their biased fanboy opinions. Average points per race and actual results are what matters.
Wish I had that sort of attitude in my heart .. not .. chill - no one cares what any of us write here ..
@@andrewprice9444 Then why write and react at all? If your heart has attitude you got problems bud.
Well, choosing Liam over Yuki is, from Red Bulls view, is reasonable. Red Bull can steer Liam: Help Max anyway you can, and help the team. Basically: Be the number two driver. Yuki would challenge Max from the get go because he is a Honda driver, not a Red Bull driver.
If so, then why was he ever considered?
Just a couple of questions guys..... How long has YT been at AT/VCARB in F1 and what's the nature of his team mate battles? He got schalacked by Gasly on debut, OK no huge disgrace there as Pierre is more than decent when he's interested. The gap narrowed in 2022 and he wasn't that far from Pierre. In 2023 he was marginally better than a very mediocre Ricciardo fresh from being sacked by McLaren. 2024 he produced some consistent results while the car was good but he wasn't really had it all over Lawson who has had a very unsettled entry into F1 getting 5 races 13 months on a simulator then 6 races. It's hard not to see Lawson improving after half a season broken into two fragments. Yuki has never looked anywhere near top shelf in his F1 career and has had some very worrying traits - sorry he has NOT exorcised the angry swearing that he first shocked us with. How would that temperament handle the blowtorch of Max Verstappen?
Yuki is a Honda driver and was only signed to RedBull once Honda became the engine for RB. No more Honda engine, no need for Yuki, Redbull has a list of development drivers on their ladder. Yuki was never picked up by Redbull before the Honda deal.
Yuki is a formula 1 driver and making claims nobody never ever brought up before does not make for a strong case at all, it makes you look like you are looking for an answer to a problem that only just popped up in your tiny propagandized brain. Just say you prefer one over the other and stop creating utter BS to fit your view. Keep making up stories to fit your narrative and keep looking like a weak doofus. Playing fake news media games (fitting a story to a preferred narrative) is literal insane.
Tsunoda and Lawson have raced 11 times together . The score is 6 - 5 Lawson . Are you sure Tsunoda "beat " him overall ? He out qualified Lawson but finished behind him more often than he finished in front . It's not where you qualify but where you are at the chequered flag that counts . And based on results alone , Lawson did better .
How many points did both score? Whats their average per race? Yuki scored 1.25 points per race and Liam a dismal 0,66. Yuki outscores Liam by twice as much in the only true measure= race results. Even Checo's worst is still better then Liam's. ''Its not where you qualify but where you are at the checkered flag that counts''. So are you just all talk and when the numbers are as clear as this do you understand your point has been ridiculized by reality=facts? Have you ever seen a F1 race with only two drivers? If the answer is NO (it is) then you little made up score is worthless since a race has 20 cars/drivers.
@@GonzoJohnny What a childish reply . How many times did Tsunoda cross the finish line in front of Lawson ? Your childish insults just prove how immature and pathetic you are . Grow up .
@@tonyrata4796 Are you going to cry? Is that what you call mature? Why don't you react on the facts? You certainly got some growing up to do crybaby
@@GonzoJohnny The 2 points difference is because Piastri spun out lawson illegally and received a 5 second penalty for it, while Lawson dropped 3 places because of it. Piastri then finished ahead of Yuki and the penalty gifted 2 extra points to Yuki.
@@Matt04108 Beeehhhh😆
Lawson is adaptable and gets up to speed quickly and hasn't put his car into the wall (yet) and he races forward generally and he has a lot more miles than Yuki in the RB20. Yuki Tsunoda lost the most places of any driver during the 2024 Formula 1 season, finishing 1.7 places lower than he qualified on average and he crashes a lot 7.9m over his 4 seasons and 2.1m in 2024. Liam is under a tenth of Yuki (except Las Vegas) and faster in sprint qualies and at COTA in Q1 was faster than Yuki's Q1 & 2 times. So the 6-0 figure doesn't tell the whole story but it looks good for Yuki fans. I am a Liam and Yuki fan so I was happy either way but I have to check the details to get a fair picture.
100% Great to read an informed comment.
@@greig39 what part was informative? Describe it.
Yuki averaged 1.25 points per race, the only measure of importance= race results. Liam has an even lower score (0,66) then Checo did in his last 8 disastrous races (1.0 points per race). But you don't like those numbers bcuz they don't fit your preferred narrative. So you keep looking for numbers that suit your opinion/made up narrative. But the actual race results are 100% clear on who the better driver was in 2024. f1 is about getting results, no?
@@GonzoJohnny Last season Yuki scored 0 points during the 5 races he had vs Lawson, while Liam finished 9th in Singapore for 2 points, after an excellent qualifying, to beat Perez, Verstappen and Yuki.
@@Matt04108 Last season was 2024.
The harsh reality is Ford will be Red Bulls powertrain supplier, and Yuki is tied to Honda as much as Honda can say they will back and support him no matter where he goes. It would be a bad look for Ford if Yuki went out and did a Honda promo. There is politics to the decisions made, and Liam has shown talent and that he will follow team orders. Whereas Yuki has not demonstrated that he will follow team orders by throwing a temper tantrum even this year over the radio when he was given team orders. Red Bull right now are looking to have a driver learn from Max that will take over as their number one is the perfect candidate as he’s not tied to any major car brand, and can learn from max plus with max starting a family and already having expressed that he does not wish to do Formula One forever. They are training their next future superstar. Red Bull have done this before they did it with Weber and Sebastian then with Sebastian and Daniel and Daniel and Max. They typically don’t want their number one challenged for a period of one to two years while number two that is the number one is getting climb Battailles to the car and racing at the top team, and then all hell breaks loose and the flip typically and the one that was number two slowly starts to become number one and the one that was number one slowly becomes number two or leaves
Great that you are happy to be proved wrong. Won't take long for those results to come through- go Liam
Yuki's average scoring point per race (you know, the ONLY thing that matters) is 1.25 while Lawson is barely half that with 0.66 points per race which is even worse then Checo's last 8 races: 1.0. Its not hard to show you are simply wrong and very biased.

Liam obviously has something Yuki doesn't, I'm surprised also that Yuki didn't get the seat but end of the day we don't know the data and they do.
Not just the data, but what goes on behind the scenes. There was footage in DTS of Yuki not taking training seriously and falling asleep during engineering meetings. He has since moved country and changed trainer to improve his attitude. But the damage was already done
What about Alpine and Mercedes they have put rookies in with no experience so why is it different that RB put in a driver who has 11 races. Also LL has bested Yuki in junior categories. Further, LL has done a lot of testing in the RB 19, 20 than Yuki, so RBR have a lot of data.
Do results in f1 matter? If so Yuki 1.25 average points per race, Liam barely half with 0.66 points per race. No need for your opinion when you got clear numbers on the only measure that truly matters in f1: results.
What a poor assessment of the situation. Name one race from the past four seasons that Yuki has driven that was as composed as Liam’s first race. Out of 90 races, he has shown very little that stands out. Oh, what a great argument that Yuki performed better than Liam both last year and this year. It would be pretty bad if that weren’t the case. Keep in mind that Liam has only been able to compete in a quarter of the races in 2023 and 2024 and still hasn’t performed much worse. Yuki has nine times more experience and has raced full seasons. Yuki is certainly not bad, but Liam has shown more in the races he’s driven than Yuki has in 90 races! A good choice by Red Bull. I just hope they give him the time now to drive a full season.
💯
Honestly, I personally have always felt that Yuki was only there because of Honda Red Bull typically don’t put up with bad drivers even at the junior team and I don’t think Yuki has really been a blow away stand out apart from for his attitude, his failure to follow team orders, and the things that would be viewed as negativesI have a feeling he’s getting fired next year right before Honda leaves
💯
No he didn't. Liam is outscored by Yuki, The average points per race (actual F1 results instead of made up opinions) for Yuki: 1.25. Thats double what Liam scored: 0.66 Liam does not even outscore Checo's last 8 horrible races : 1.0 points per race. But let me guess, actual results in f1 don't matter right?
Blah blah blah
you have to wonder if Max had direct input into the Lawson/Yuki choice.
I believe he would have for sure.
Why? You don't know.
Max and his dad are both on record backing Lawson.
#1 priority at Red Bull at the moment is keeping their star driver happy. Max will definitely have been part of the decision.
RB sacked Danny Ric then put Liam in the team then went from P6 to P8, Yuki then our ran Liam 6-0 yet Yuki was passed over this we have known for a while as Hadjar let slip he was replacing Liam at last race, I know everyone is up for 6 new drivers next year I think only 1/6 will make it the rest will cost teams a lot in repair bills
Hahaha Tsunoda had invoices for his crashes too. What's the crash score on that stat between Liam and Yuki, pretty sure Yuki won that title aswell. As for qualifying stats it meant nothing to Christian and Helmut. Liam's results in Austin and Interlagos, the battle's with Alonso and Checnuts, defending Hamilton for 9th. For RBR those moments in Liam's first 3 races back to F1 was more than enough to convince the team he is ready and more than capable of driving alongside Max for 2025, The remaining final 3 races was more about bringing the car home in 1 piece bar the final race when he was forced to retire the car, regardless of what or what would've happened points or no points, the team had now leaned towards Lawson before the final 3 races began, and on top of all that Checnuts form fell off big time, Max fought without his wingman, Max became vulnerable, Amigo was nowhere to be seen on the frontline battle, RBR team lost a lot of points which ultimately cost them the constructors title. The Mexican alone was the sole blame as Helmut stated. But Liam inherited the hate of fans around the world because he fought for his life, he stood his ground, he raced hard and ultimately he done the unthinkable, he got the seat. Nevermind needing to prove anything to the fans and disgruntled salty fans of F1, but prove to Christian and Helmut to just be considered even. Liam Lawson hater's clear your mind of false negatives, don't let him live rent free inside that thick skull of your's, the more you hate the kid the more you will see of him inside your head, learn how to read the sport properly and enjoy the sport for what it represents, appreciate what this kid is doing and what he brings to Formula 1. Obviously he has the whole world talking about him now like any other driver good or bad. He's not doing this to piss fans off purposely, he's doing it because it's his dream whether we like it or not. Like Max he's a F1 driver, whatever word we tap will not affect these guy's and we are nothing we're just fans.
Yeah, those youngsters are going to be expensive and at least half of them will be replaced.
@@hortonwilson9279 His dream will be shattered and thanks to peeps like you i'm going to enjoy that to the fullest. Liam would outperform Checo his fans say... well Checo was 2d at 2024's first race so Liam better win. If not, he is less and i will be very vocal about him NOT outperforming Checo. Liam will be the joke of the grid (lots of competition for that one).
@@GonzoJohnny But it will be fun watching the rookies in 25 - more so than watching the usual parade at the front of the grid I suspect.
@@GonzoJohnny Gonzo! Bahaha😆😆 not from sesame street are you, can you tell us how to get there
25:50 Here’s the deal though, Yuki has proven this season that he isn’t a team player and he will fight whoever is in the second seat, sometimes making it worse for both drivers. On the other hand, Lawson has been a team player and has been mentored by Max for years. They will keep designing that car around Max, because that is the way they keep Max. With Lawson being used to Max’s instruction and receptive to it, they are hoping Max can coach Liam to be somewhat successful in that car. Plus, they are looking forward. It is pretty clear that Max is going to retire from F1 after 2028 at the latest. They need a second seat driver that can take that mantle when Max retires, not an older driver that may be at or past their peak.
You do understand the meaning of the word racing? You can go watch some knitting contest, Lawson will be slaughtered and i'm grabbing the popcorn to enjoy seeing that happen. Blame RB and Liam when he does.
8:37 sure, but it was Danny who broke the relationship, and Danny, who couldn’t handle being second driver to Max. That is the sad truth of it. You could see it when he came back at the beginning of the 2024 season that he realized that he had made that mistake, but it was too little too late. It really sucks, because Danny would’ve been an amazing second driver if he could’ve grown up and gotten into that point a little bit quicker.
The problem is, I think that car is way off of the pace. Period for Max to be finishing as low as he is (although not lower than six this season) does mean the car is far out there. Unfortunately, I think anybody they put in that second seat is going to struggle. I think they figure rolling the dice on a younger kid who could maybe learn to adapt to the car, and someone who has been mentoring for years, so he will be open and receptive to advice and instruction from Max is probably the best option.

8:00 I think their program is working exactly as intended. If they had thrown Riccardo, said to say, since he’s one of my favorite drivers, into that second seat to Max right away, it would’ve been a disaster and he would’ve ended like Perez probably.
No. Yuki is eright there, this just pisses off Yuki and ruins lawson
1:08:59 actually the mirror did not cause the punctures, Hamilton and signs grabbing too much of those curbs n 32 lap old tires were the result of the punctures.
Signs 😂.
thanks for reminding me of the best radio of the season "Rickyyyyy"
29:54 not only that, but a lot of people feel to realize, is that when he wasn’t winning races he never finished sixth in any Grand Prix, not counting the DNF in Australia. Never finished below 6th! That is how he won this WDC. Purely on phenomenal skill and consistency.
Great review. Nice to relive the season through here
Idk if you guys are aware, but Alonslow hasn't won a race in over 10 years or had pole position in over 10 years. He was gifted the title in 2005 by FIA screwing Ferrari with the tire rule. He was then losing in 2006 before Michael Ferrari blew up in Japan. He was gonna lose that title otherwise. The way you guys talk about Alonso is laughable. "if he gets a sniff of a win, you can't stop him" tell me another 'great' that went 10+ years of active driving without a win, pole, or anything of significance. Most OVERRATED driver in history. most of his career achievements are before 2007.... he also got smoked by a rookie in 2007.
Lance is just a safety hazard… nothing more.
Nope Seb is Mr RedBull
Harry drinking a Corona. 🤮 Step it up boy!
I remember last podcast you guys said you would choose Colapinto over the HULK. 🤔 I'd be surprised it he gets a seat next year let alone 2026.
Not sure how many people are audio only but I watch every video. Love the podcast guys, thanks for the great content!
