these are like memories and dreams of a place.......love your work!
Happy christmas Charlie😊
Merry Christmas to you and Betty Soo, Charlie.
Great…. Just ordered a 6”
Just received… sweet piece !
I really enjoyed these three interviews. Thanks, gentlemen!
Appreciate your watching!
Interesting to be viewing this in Dec 2024 when denialism and revisionism have had almost 4 years to fade…. My past self would never have predicted a future in which not only are denialism and revisionism stronger than ever, but the country has again made the decision to re-anoint Trump as ‘leader’. The polarization of the country is beyond ordinary discourse about political differences. I cannot and will not attempt to find common ground with those who support Trump’s agenda (project 2025, isolationism, protectionism, mass tariffs, mass deportations etc) or who abdicated making a moral decision in favor of perceived economic benefits. I cannot only hope that our country recovers more quickly from this than it did the civil war - where it could be argued it took 100 years: blacks were given the right to vote in 1965.
Dark days ahead, I fear.
I've just watched all three of these talks with you and Buddy.O. I totally enjoyed them. There is so much to be gained from conversations about ones' life experiences. The thing I enjoy most when the Rattlesnake gang gets together in BBNP is the time we spend together sitting around in the evening sharing life experiences, stories, insights and songs. I look forward to having you with us in February, it's going to be great fun. BTW, I spent almost 10 years as a brakeman on the railroad back in the 80's. We may have a thing or two in common. Again, I thoroughly enjoyed the three interviews with you and Buddy.
Fantastic! I totally get what you're saying. That's been the best part of many events. Looking forward to it.
I think Corduroy would like to be interviewed.
Corduroy would like licky treats and more lap time. That would really pretty much be the content, I believe.
I thoroughly enjoyed all 3 interviews including Corduroy’s contribution.
Hearing more about the sketching experience in Europe would be neat. I bet those sketchbooks are precious. I can't believe you still have them. Re the Prine concert poster, when you have a moment, could we see a close up? Very cool poster, thanks for showing it. Great talk. Looking forward to Part III.
Putney Painters at Legacy Gallery --- best memories ever!!!!
Those two readings were really nice. Thank you. ❤
This is an early Christmas gift. Pure joy. Cheers❤
A forensic analysis by Charlie Hunter.!
Just wanted to say, I'm a big roy lichtenstein fan. I watch everything I can find. Setting in front of a camera and sharing your life is a big deal. Don't stop. Thank you and draw on.
Always love hearing about your stories from years past, Charlie. Bring on Part III.
Love hearing your stories 😊👩🏻🎨
I used Williams art to guide me in understanding the handling of watercolors. I have his book and it’s well used. Thank you William🥂
Late to the party today (7 months late) and watching from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Any fan of Garnet and Stan is a friend of mine. Should you ever feel compelled to return, consider this an invite to do some plein air from my sailboat on the flooded South Saskatchewan River, a reservoir called Lake Diefenbaker. From the vantage at water level or on the hillsides, one easily forgets the vastness and flatness of the prairies just beyond the rim of the river valley. It is easy to sense the history of the prairies, long before there were any grain elevators to interrupt the view.
I really like Saskatoon. You may find me knocking on your door someday. Fun fact: I designed Garnet's SMALL VICTORIES cd cover.
@@CharlieHunterArt Nice. I have a bunch of Garnet's albums but not that one, although I know the song "Small Victory" very well. It is one of my favourites of Garnet's.
Gas stations!!! Barns... "she is going to be of no help whatsoever..." Looking forward to future Part II and Part III. Proud to have paintings by both Charlie and Kathie gracing my home!
Fascinating! I enjoyed this so much. Sounds like you were free to pursue what you wanted Charlie. Can’t ask for more than that! Love the part about your learning to read by gas station signs. BTW; I can fully identify with the low grades in math. Thank you Buddy and Charlie!
Catching up on past podcasts. Experimentation is an investment in self. Just because you are good at something doesn’t mean you couldn’t be better at something else if you give yourself the chance. If an artist has a successful ‘commercial’ look, that is not to say that you ignore the need to eat. But for private work you should always allow yourself to fail. If you find something new you want to share with an audience of consumers you just need to choose the right audience. Not all that dissimilar to Texas plein aire collectors vs New England nostalgia collectors - there will be some crossovers but the markets are not the same.
Such fun..Looking forward to the next chapter.
Luv luv Charlie and Budman (& Kathie)‼️Excellent, entertaining and educational interview. Well done 🤩🤩. Mil gracias.
I loved it. Thank you, Buddy and Charlie. It was so much fun to learn about Charlie's history from a great storyteller. I'm looking forward to learning more about the art and how his style was developed.
I never get tired of listening to Charlie. Already waiting for the next one....and the next...
Yes please - do another one! Enjoyed it.
You guys are fun to watch!
This is an absolutely fascinating interview. Buddy Odum actually listened to the stories of Charlie Hunter, making him an astute and sensitive interviewer.
Wonderful interview! Please do a follow up.
Love Buddy and his lovely wife.
Two of the best!
Another great episode. Thanks
So glad you enjoyed it.
I am so sorry that i can not receive the book, over the big water, in Europe , i really appreciate you and your body of work, you are , for me, the best emotional artist of your generation.
Greetings to friends across the big water. I'll be crossing the big water next year for an event in Ireland!
I would love to look at Richard Schmid’s book!! I love your Reasonably Fine Art Talks!
Clare - drop me a line at charlie (at) hunter-studio.com and we can arrange.
One of my very favourite cartoonists. Top 20 at least. Very sad he stopped updating his old blogs! Happy Comics is insanely amazing. I don't use social media or any of that, so sadly don't see his newer updates.
Love Jeff’s work!!!
I would love to look at Richards book. Vicki page
Vicki - drop me a line at charlie (at) hunter-studio.com and we will set it up!
Love the It's a New Day, It's a New Dawn. So quiet & luminous at the same time.
My goodness these photos are stunning! 🤩
Thanks Charlie and john. So how do you price that one out of 50 painting? I find that tricky.
I think one just has to hold steady with one's normal price structure, as those that are important to us may not be so for someone else.
Love your Talks and my heart always jumps a bit when the Plein Air Texas artists are your guests. Thanks
Hey, thanks, JoNell! Appreciate it!
Love ,love ,love your work . The Boots wow .Thank you for sharing . Your textures are amazing. X
Tad and Zac Retz - yesssssssssss.
Excellent video! Loved all the historical info. I use Cobra and love them. Started with Artisan and regret I bought 8 tubes. Slowly replacing them with Cobra. Their consistency is great, nicely pigmented, easy to thin with water and they don't gum up.
Great show, TY. Love the way David manipulates the oil paint consistency.
Your work is extraordinary! I love it!
What a wonderful interview- inspiring and entertaining. Beautiful work by an amazing artist
Glad you enjoyed it!
The vibe was magical today! Two genius “tricksters”! So much insight. Sandy Like the Beach.
Thank you so much, Sandy Like The Beach. Great to hear from you!
Love your art talks and your art!
I'm not watching live, but here I am now. I also think you are a marvelous artist! I'd prefer if you'd save the thanks for the end, but you be you. For what it's worth, I'm from Middle Tennessee. Also, I am a big fan of Betty Soo, along with McMurtry and Co. Lastly, good luck in Santa Fe. I did my first plein air event (a local three-day affair) and was exhausted by the end.
Terri - Hey, that's a good idea. Now that the thanks list is so long, that might be just the ticket!
Thank you for such a fun and informative interview.
