Once my team and I locked some guy in the jail cell at the bottom of the ship and ran the ship into land, and it sunk. He kept spamming in the chat, "HELP HELP SORRY SORRY SORRY HELP" over and over. I died of laughter that day

SoT Open Sea is... monotone. you obliterate a smaller ship and crew or you got obliterate 4vs1 or 2. i had only one entertaining fight (>200h) and we sank both ships and everybody lost his loot XD i have my own "codex": No matter who, whoever shoots gets it back tenfold. dont sank ships without loot or on a tall tale. Its Sea of Thieves, not Sea of Douchebags. Storytime: Long ago i met 2 players (me ~20h playtime). They first “inspected” my sloop. 1 skull, nothing else. was my first island. They didnt sink my sloop. Instead they wished me a nice day and started a fort event. Since they attracted the players like a lamp attracts moths, I was able to work through my emmisarys around the fort in peace and quiet. After few hours, they were still there (PvP farming in the old days :D) and I sailed over to them. I gave them lots of cannonballs, wooden planks and food as a "thank you" for not sinking me at the beginning. They were really happy that there are still nice players out there. For me, a great gaming moment. Praise to the two unknown priates. They treated a newcomer really nicely!

I am so glad Safer Seas exists. Everytime i play it and enjoy myself i just imagine all the sweats in this video smashing their keyboards knowing that i am having fun on my own and theres nothing they can do to stop me.

as much as I am a PvP enthusiast, this is half of the reason so much of the new playerbase uninstalls. They’re new and don’t even get the chance to get better because everyone’s already better than them, and they get constantly mocked on top of that. Whenever I get matched with a new player in hourglass, I’ll usually just let them practice boarding techniques on me and give them a win, even I’m on a champion streak. Just let them live, man. Edit: If they attack you first though, that's their issue, no offense.

I get it’s part of the game, but sinking a ship with no loot that’s not defending yourself isn’t very honorable

Context: This is me and a random kid I joined through in-game matchmaking. I was the one yelling "I love Russia". It was my first few days on the game and honestly this interaction was hilarious. Ofc these guys are sweaty tryhards but even still I was laughing before during and after. Btw I'm Canadian and I know these guys were French, it was a joke.
