I hit MILE 500 and crossed into ENGLAND! Trail 5 continues | The Long Walk Home Series ep. 5
Переглядів 5 тис.7 місяців тому
Omg what a trail this was. I hit mile 500 and crossed the Scottish-English boarder. Unfortunately I'd deleted some of the footage of this one to make space for the Pennine way, so it's not got all the emotional blabbering you'd expect for such an achievement. But you can still see the excitement on my face, and that's all that matters. 1000 miles left to go! BRING IT ON!! . PS. for some facts a...

Wahoooo! Trail number 5 is finally up and edited!! This one was a BEAUTY! . The Forth to Farne way is a 72 mile route starting in North Berwick and finishing on Holy Island, Lindisfarne. These 4 days saw two wild camps and a campsite, multiple churches and chapels, beautiful sunsets, creepy awakenings (Pt. 2) and another dose of human kindness. I hope you enjoy ❤️ . #hikingtrail #countrylife #b...

    Cause of Plantar Fasciitis. Walking more downhill than uphill. You have to counteract it by not being frightened of walking up steep hills. To cure it simply stand on the bottom stair of the staircase on the front part of your feet, with your heels hanging down so you stretch your calf muscles. Do it 3 times a day for only 20 seconds at a time. It'll be cured within a fortnight xx

    I hope you got a refund. This tent is so hyped because it weighs little and does have some good ideas, as you pointed out. I almost bought it. Then I saw that it was only waterproofed for 1200 mm, which made me suspicious. Your review confirmed my qualms about the tent. Thanks for the honest review.

    What a wonderful video, thank you! I am for the first time hiking ever, going to hike the Tour du Mont Blanc. I hear that hike is very crowded, so this hike would be so enjoyable just being able to listen to "nature". I love England and Scotland, so this would be a trip I would love to take, though a 63 yr old mom, I am not keen on doing it alone. Thanks for sharing, I will be watching the other videos. Safe travels....!!!

    Appreciate your opinion but I have to say after nearly 1000miles in my osmo your not treating yours correctly mine has been spectacular even coming from a Chinese version (Amazon) of the tent I do appreciate your positives on the tent. However there a reason it’s one of the most popular tents on any trails I’ve read or heard about granted nothing is perfect but I’ve had mine in up to 50mph (43knots) winds with zero issues in a tornado prone bad weather area. Again very much appreciate your opinions but my experience has been exactly the opposite I’m sorry you’ve had issues with your kit.

    Beca:"...appreciate the little things when you've been on trail for a little while though, so like a good warm nights sleep, a wind free shelter, gas to cook your food on, enough food to stop you feeling hungry.....water that doesn't taste like SHITE!" love it.

    Enthusiasm in abundance and the giggly bubbles of excitement just trigger my own quirky giggle fits as I feel the desire to get out and go on an adventure. Just back from the WHW and Ben Nevis and I am somewhat confused, I feel I can't recall the journey, can't reflect on where I have been as it's been a matter of cleaning and tidying and back to work as normal, so I am finding myself watching other's adventures to try and trigger my memories. It is working somewhat. Thanks :)

    I bought this last year in time for a summer wild camp where I was going ultralightweight. I invested a lot of money into lightweight pack, bag, etc, including this amazingly light tent. It is technically brilliant and completely waterproof (including the floor). BUT I spent most nights awake staring up at the poles as the wind hammered against it. The first evening it collapsed in on itself. No damage ,thankfully. It never did it again but I was careful to always pitch it into the prevailing wind and pray it didn't change. It was the Lake District, which is rough even in summer. This year it's the Rhinogs and I'm seriously considering taking my 4-season Terra Nova Southern Cross 2. It's a lot heavier, but I value a good night's sleep when hillwalking!

    • @jamesmay3941
      @jamesmay3941 Місяць тому

      Update - I took my Southern Cross 2. Generally fine weather but the windy times made me glad I brought it and not the Nemo. Plus it got quite chilly in the small hours before dawn and I would have been pretty cold in the Nemo. My Southern Cross 2 will now be my main tent (amongst several) when I'm not hammocking.

    I have/had (now the seams are no longer properly sealed due to the glue coming off over time) a Wechsel Pathfinder 1P. It is almost 3 times the weight but I did 8 months and almost 18000km on a bicycle across Europe, and did not regret having it. I started off on the 1st of March 2019 from South West Germany and went westwards across France. Two weeks (give or take) of almost constant rain and wind (I had to push my bicycle DOWNHILL!) and never got wet inside. The next big rain hit I had to endure was in Galicia, where you will get so drenched on top of the bicycle that you can just squeeze your fist in the glove and it will leak like a hose. The tent survived. Went across Southern Europe (Spain, France, Central Italy) with all that sun. During the crossing between Czech Republic and Poland my thermometer was showing around 40+ deg Celcius in the sun. On my way across Central Sweden and then South Norway - rain. A friend of mine swears by the Nemo Hornet 2P (not Elite!). However, I am not sure how much it endures for long periods of exposure to bad weather. He has only had short trips with it. The truly decent tent starts to shine when you have to live in it for days, weeks and even months in a row enduring the elements. Thanks for the review. I love hearing from people, who actually have actively tested the product and are not just paid to promote it (probably 99.9% of all UA-cam and otherwise reviews on the Internet). Much appreciated!

    Hiya, love the videos, so entertaining. I’ve also had problems with water ingress through my groundsheet (different make) one thing II changed was to make sure the foot print is smaller than than the groundsheet of the tent, folding the edges under so that when it rains it ran down the tent and onto the ground and it didn’t get in between the foot print and the ground sheet. Hope this helps!

    Great video, thanks for making it. I really think Nemo went too far with the Elite versions of these tents. The regular versions are only a few ounces more and use more robust materials as I understand it. There is really a use case for a tent like this but it's not for 99.9% of people and I think it is unfortunate how it has been marketed, especially where you live. In the western U.S. where I am, we can go weeks or even months without rain. While we do get strong winds it is less frequent and often more predictable so it would be appropriate in some cases here, like bug protection and insurance from an unexpected storm, but I'd use some type of ground sheet 100% of the time to avoid punctures. I guess that's where Dyneema tents shine. Quite robust, waterproof, light, and of course even more expensive. Unfortunately not enough free standing, wind worthy designs as of now. I'm looking forward to checking out more of your content.

    I live in NW Washington state where it rains A LOT. We get snow, rain, wind, pretty much every type of weather you can think of and I have had zero problems with mine. Also just finished the PCT with this tent and had no issues. I’m also 6’-4” and fit great in mine. So not sure what you are complaining about. Nemo has been a great company to buy from and I would buy it again in a heartbeat.
