    The Review missed many of the Freudian/Jungian Subtle Nuances. This is a great movie (9/10 for me) as it deals with a complex and dangerous topic. The main actor and actress were well deep into their characters and gave outstanding performances in difficult roles.

      Thanks for your comment. Would you care to give some examples "of the Freudian/Jungian Subtle Nuances" in the film. Also, if you want to elaborate more on the other two points you stated. Just want to allow you put your points out for others to read, I would gladly pin your comment so others can read it.

    Why not do those things you mentioned? Because it never happened. What was actually left out was that Joes mother died when he was three. He was sent to a relative to live. Then he went back to his dad and the new wife and kids. The new wife didn’t want Joe with them. Then he was abandoned again at ten and again at 14. He had to forage for food. The background of Joe Rantz could have made it more important that he won a Gold Medal. He was my father in law. My son is his grandson. So I knew him. And Joyce. The movie did let us know the boys were poor and that Joe had been abandoned, but we would have liked to see more on his background. George Clooney said he was trying to keep the movie to two hours so that restricted what he could show. Also the whole thing did not take place in the year 1936. They rowed for two or three years before the boys who went on to win Gold were solidified as the ones who would be The Crew. The real story is more unbelievable and underdog than it even showed. But the tensions built up with the races made it exciting and these boys were all underdogs, trying to survive and trying to win, in crew and in life.

    • @salandpalsgotothemovies8052
      @salandpalsgotothemovies8052 4 місяці тому

      See i would have liked if they touched upon his background then it would have shown where he started and then went to win gold. The fact that i mentioned stuff that didn't happen was cause just like in the movie George Clooney for the last race he made it a photo finish which never happened at all. So as you can see movies don't hesitate to bend things for the "benefit" of the movie. Which I said i rather see their beginning to get more of a feel of their journey. But thanks for sharing your connection to Joe

    • @donnad1204
      @donnad1204 4 місяці тому

      Yes it was a very close finish, “instead of a photo to reveal the winner, the judges had to deliberate for a few minutes to determine the placements of each team. Brown said, "It was an extremely close finish, and no one knew who had won. There were photos taken (by spectators) of that finish, but I don't have any reason to think they took a photo to determine who won.” That worked for the film. They truly did get the worst lane and started late because they didn’t hear the starting gun go off from that lane. Still they won gold !

      @@salandpalsgotothemovies8052 it’s all in one the silly stuff in book one represents the nonchalant unproductive life of a person who doesn’t have their shit together. Sitting around getting high scheming, goofing off. Book 2 shows a man trying to find his purpose. Book 3 is the awakening so to speak he knows the truth and has found his purpose. The deeper meaning is sooo easy 😊. It’s a beautiful redemption story of a man who went for money only and not the right life . Then he realized money is nothing without compassion and he gave it all up . Then he beggar who received money all of a sudden turned into a bad person and cocky because of it. I sincerely ask how you missed this ? 💡

    • @salandpalsgotothemovies8052
      @salandpalsgotothemovies8052 4 місяці тому

      No, thats not the deeper meaning since we see Clarence use the money to free the slaves vs keep it to pay his debt, also we see him refuse to give up Jesus when he says he rather die then give him up to rome. If anything the redemption part is on the surface, but the beggar didn't turn cocky cause the money he went around sharing his riches which religion teaches on to do ao how is that cocky. When i asked about a deeper meaning is cause even in the trailer if you see it again it raises a question "How far would you go to prove you're not a nobody" it doesn't ask how to reach redemption.

Loved the performances, especially DiCaprio and Gladstone, and the build up to the investigation (again, even if it took a little too much time to get there). I also noticed the dialogue added in post, that felt like something that could have been better. Good review. I think it would be cool to make movie reviews in a story arc, almost like a movie reviewing a movie. Maybe starting with a take on the movie as a whole that makes the audience wonder how that could be, and then laying breadcrumbs throughout the review as supporting evidence to the end where it all stitches together.

    I've been looking for a review of this film for a long time and was very interested in your remarks. Read the book and loved it even before they made the movie.The film did not disappoint though you're right there's a lot in the novel they had to leave out of the film for time which would have made it less confusing. There was a great scene in the book where Bebe is running from the bad guys and imagines the African runner (Bekala?) running beside him, giving encouragement. NO way they could have put that in the movie without being a really awkward distraction.Yes the first part was so slow I noticed one of my friends I saw it with acting bored. But it really picked up after a while. Yes they cut a few seconds out of the really gory parts cause people simply weren't used to that stuff back then the way they are now. Also the ending WAS a little unsatisfying but overall a good film and so glad you liked it! 0

      This is the point we talked about during the gunfight they should have gunned him down when they had the chance and not leave it to interpretation. This is what the movie keeps doing leaving everything opened ended. When it should have given it to us in a nice package

      @@peterquinones2169 Yes he does dies after the gun fight, what we are saying is they should have finished him during the gun fight. This would have made it so the viewer has a bigger reaction then to him dying off screen. Just try to imagine Bobby and his brothers watching as the bad guys kill jack point blank. So again our point is that the movie takes shortcuts when they could have used some scenes to build on the brothers driving force to go after the bad guy. In the review it sounds like we say Jack doesn't die but what we are saying was he doesn't die on screen, in movies either you see it happen on screen or it happens off screen but they carry different weight depending on which way it happens.

      @@salandpalsgotothemovies8052 DH2 is an always truly will feel like the biggest cash grab towards anything I’ve ever experienced. Just feels like they put no effort into it at all what the whole movie having this “let’s just get this over and done with“ attitude from everyone and everything involved from the acting to the simmer photography to just how they overall went about the movie, which is also completely true when you hear about the behind the scenes in David Yates wanting to keep The deleted scene Of Tonks and lupin, But was forced to cut it all so they could convert it into the most pointless use of 3-D ever imaginable in film, Which only resulted in having Me feel completely nothing towards their deaths let alone any other deaths in the whole movie except for Snape‘s. He also has some of the worst music that I’ve ever heard for any movie not only because it sounds generic and mediocre, way more than this movie which actually had me feel Way more emotional towards the creatures let alone characters in the movie and actually felt and sounded like a Harry Potter/Wizarding World movie as they actually reused a lot of themes from the previous movies and even without those themes the new/original fantastic beasts theme still felt way more like we were in the Wizarding world as opposed to the generic sounding garbage that was most of DH2‘s soundtrack. And above all regardless of whether you like the movie or not, if you can’t acknowledge that DH2 Has probably the most abysmal colouring and lighting of the movie where you literally cannot see a thing for most of it then there’s something wrong with you as well this movie was certainly darker than the previous two fantastic beasts at least you could still see what was going on even when it was really dark

    Howm we need to worry about more is people refusing to go and see #FantasticBeastsTheSecretsOfDumbledore all because of her comments; I’d highly encourage and recommend everyone [please Encourage as many other people as you can as well please :-) See it as many times as they can in theaters, and even If possible,buy a ticket for it In place of going to see another movie so that way it still gets money without you actually having to see it multiple times. Buying as many merchandise directly related to it as possible will also truly help. Also remember that if you’re refusing to see it because of #JohnnyDeppIsMyGrindelwald Then please remember that this movie needs to do well so as to give Johnny the chance to actually come back in the Later movies, For the actor who played MacNair The executioner was re-casted for prisoner of Azkaban and then came back for order of the Phoenix. The bottom line is that if #FantasticBeastsTheSecretsOfDumbledore Doesn’t do well, And they don’t make the remaining two movies,then Johnny definitely will never be back as Grindelwald!Plus you also have to remember that it’s about to be a new company with new people over seeing it, So as such you were technically not paying that company and are actually giving more of a chance than not having him actually return. Especially depending on what may happen with the results of his trial that’s going to be happening shortly after the movie comes out, the new people taking over Warner Bros. right before it comes out…… Also remember in regards to her that she doesn’t necessarily get a whole lot of money from this, as well the fact remains that as many people have pointed out that she already has so much money that not supporting the series will not really change any kind of “power“ that you may have against her, and after all the series should not suffer at all because of her for Regardless of what you may think, nothing I repeat nothing will ever ever truly take away what a series overall truly means to you let alone other people, And again it’s not The series that’s the problem at all in any kind of way :-) Also keep in mind that even though it’s not the best example they have at least one transgender person or someone who identifies themselves as “They” in the cast so much for her transphobia……

      My point is the story fell really short and it didn't have a strong plot to merit another film and as a fan even if it continues I won't go see it, not due to the actor Johnny or her comments but due to the script doesn't feel as strong as the other franchise films. Same as Star Wars ep 1-3 vs the original trilogy. But I respect you point of view and wish you the best of luck keeping this franchise alive

      @@salandpalsgotothemovies8052 That’s truly selling yourself short and only hurting yourself by not giving another movie a chance for those reasons you said. Like how people have even felt about the later Harry Potter is compared to the earlier ones and many other movie franchises just because you feel like there’s no need for another movie or even for the disappointment of the previous one it doesn’t mean that you won’t like the next one For it very well could be The best one especially if they potentially drop J. K. Rowling altogether as a screenwriter which is quite possible, And again even Ralph Fiennes of all people actually says he hates the earlier Harry Potter movies but loves the newer ones hence why he signed on to play Voldemort in the first place

    You know would just like folks like yourself to consider something. There is no historical evidence Japan ever felt what they did at Pearl Harbor was a “sneak” attack with no honor. Maybe some do but many don’t. Americans never want to portray history which puts themselves in a bad light. Let’s consider the following facts: 1. Flying Tigers - Formed April 1941. So the US was already helping China fight against Japan. Yes? 2. Overt act of cutting off oil supply line. That is what the US did to Japan. Ultimatums were made by the US to Japan. Pull out of China or else no oil. By the way the British was already in China and India and other Asian countries. Same for other European nations. 3. The hypocrisy of how it was okay for Europeans rule over Asian countries but not and Asian country. 4. The US was on high alert. The movie even portrays the attack happening one week earlier. 5. The US fired the first shot. USS Ward. One could say the IJN sub should not have been there. Well should the European and American vessels been in Asian waters? Yes the movie doesn’t make Japanese into villains but were they even as a whole? Not every Japanese military personnel was evil. They were just soldiers. If anybody wants to comment on atrocities then it’s more related to those hiding behind women and children just like terrorists do or what occurred in Vietnam. Who fights fair these days? Did the US fight fair? They often attacked civilian targets and merchant ships where as Japan focused more on military only targets. I don’t believe anything I stated is not true. All facts.

    • @f430ferrari5

      Oh and another point. Japan woke up a sleeping nation for sure but in 1941/42 the US was not a Giant. Due to the war in the Atlantic the US was severely limited. Even with all the vessels moved from the Atlantic to Pacific the IJN still had the edge. The US battleships were very old and slow and guzzlers. The US didn’t even have enough fleet oilers to fuel all the vessels. That’s why the battleships were not even patrolling. The US also had junk torpedos and lacked armor piercing bombs. Inexperienced captains and sailors and pilots. The US worked on Intelligence and were very resourceful. It’s too bad so many US historians cover up the US weaknesses at this time but they do it at a sacrifice of showing the resourceful and bravery of many. In 1942 the IJN was the Giant Bully at Midway. They blew it. The Midway movie of 1976 doesn’t do a good job of showing the vessel strength differences.

      Most of these points you mentioned are in the history books that are taught in school, and the others have can be seen in documentaries or mini series such as 'The Pacific' and such. Like you state soldiers just follow orders from higher up that have motives that civilians might not be aware of. Thank you for your comment

      @@salandpalsgotothemovies8052 but the contradiction on your part is stating you’re glad to see the Japanese wasn’t necessarily portrayed as the “villain”. Let’s step back and think about why you would even make such a comment. It’s obvious many see Japan as the “villain” which is why you made the comment to begin with. Why is the Pearl Harbor bombing always referred by many as a “sneak” attack. Some say it was a “total surprise”. Come on. Japan bombing Pearl Harbor today would be a total surprise. China? No total surprise but more of a surprise than what it was in 1941. I don’t believe there is anything within the last transcript that was delivered late which states officially and literally that there is a declaration of war. It was more like further negotiations are pointless. Who knows what was said before pertaining to negotiations. The overt acts were clearly on the US side. Flying Tigers and supplying China and already presence in Asia. Cutting off oil. You also know that the US allowed Japan to annex Korea. Yes? Japan had Taiwan since 1895. You never hear about any atrocities here. Japan gave Taiwan and Korea the education system which still exists today. Same with infrastructure. Taiwan to this day doesn’t even want to be a part of China. Japan and Taiwan are Allies to this day. Japanese soldiers stayed in Indonesia after the war and helped drive the Dutch out for their own Independence. Over time every Asian country was freed from European colonization. Over time we can see what the power of the media can do. All sides have rights and wrongs. It’s not so clear cut. Pay attention closely to Ukraine and Russia. It’s not so clear cut. If Russia was supplying Cuba with biological or nuclear weapons what would we do? Ideally not attack Cuba like how Russia attacked Ukraine but we are often fed certain biased info to establish an agenda.
