This is true, Richmond is still stuck in the civil war. When I was there they had black men outside patrolling the daughters of the confederacy building. It felt very dystopian.

As someone who was born and raised here. VA IS A MIXTURE.. there are parts that look like the Florida everglades then there are parts that look like Philadelphia.. as far as accent. We do have a southern accent but not a deep one..

When I was a teenager I got nwa's efil4zsggin album and while I was recording it to play on my Walkman, my dad said "I can't understand why you'd pay good money to get sworn at" I should have retorted with "why do you pay money to listen to people sing- I'm a raging alcoholic who beats his wife, now she's left me and I don't know why" . I like a wide variety of music but alcoholic rednecks just don't work for me.

Great interview. I stumbled on Shaboozey a few months ago. I had the DJ at my son’s wedding last weekend play “A Bar song”. DJ had never heard of him, but loved it and said he was adding it to future playlists.
