This brief but excellent travelogue transported me back to early 1950 when with my sister Diana and parents, David Manning and Daphne Muriel disembarked from one of the Lady Boats,Lady Rodney? at Port of Spain docks from Barbados and were met by Uncle Valdemar Hanschell, who worked for Shell then,who had driven up from Point a Pierre to collect my sister and I and took us back down South while my parents presumably set about looking for a place to live. We weeks later moved into the oldest house on Carmody Road, St Augustine. A an amazing buzzing blooming confusion opened up before the eyes of an impressionable seven year old liberated from oppressive monocultural Little England.I've never been the same since.

Back when the old people were still with us, and they had a big say. You didn’t hear people saying “we suffering” and “the government wicked”, people took pride in themselves even when they had way less than us today, and they were very civic minded at that.

This brought back lots of memories. Did not change much from when it was filmed to the late 80’s when I remember it most. Spent a lot of time on jasper ave as my uncle had an apartment beside the church on the west side of jasper ave. One block away from the bubble window town houses! Times and Edmonton were better then!

Hey! The first two seconds is Edson, Alberta, westbound on 4th avenue at 48th street. The Summit Motel is, astonishingly, still there. But the Husky, the Peppermill Inn, and that sweet Chrysler Imperial are long, long gone.

I moved to Calgary in summer of 1977 to start my career in the oil and gas industry. Loved the old footage. Calgary was a lot smaller then and easier to get around. You could still drive a car in 7the Ave SW

Bravo! More like this! That five minutes...is like an hours worth to me. Very valuable, I wish there were more 70s era Whitehorse footage. I grew up there as a kid, and you just can imagine what it was like for kids to live at the edge of the wild: cold winters and endless summers.

The street clips with pedestrians are great archival footage.

Unfortunately the old terminal II building at L. Pearson's airport in Toronto is now gone.From the terminal parking lot one was offered the best view ever of the landing planes.

Many parts of the highway look pretty much the same today.It's truly a spectacular drive specially during the fall color changes.

I'm so impressed while watching this video! Whoever made this masterpiece of key history, honour to them! My first Prague visit was in 2021, long time after the Change. But as a native (Yugoslav-) Croatian from the late 70s, it's even more impressive, as there are so much similarities, and still Yugoslavia was quite in advance at the time. And now it's a European city worth to visit anytime. Az Zagreb is for instance! Thank you so much! #ostalgie #Europeforever

No homeless, drug users or people loitering sitting on the sidewalk. The bums in the 80s that I recall were all just alcoholics, asking for another few pennies for a beer. But kind and few and far between.
