I wonder what's going on through Blake Flemming's head while playing with The Mars Volta. A classic Jazz drummer playing these crazy things...
This is a certified underrated BANGER.
This was when Jon Theodore got sick of those members who were addicts.
They were sober at that time
Killer.
Oh shit...this is old as fuck...
Damn 12 years later this is still a banger. Did I comment on this 12 years ago?
Сердце Mars Volta это их барабанщик. Несмотря на бесконечную любовь ко всей группе, я восхищен этими партиями. Ни один барабанщик так не играет
There is more talent in these 16 minutes than in Black Flag's entire discography.
Black flag isn't about talent dude, they played punk and they kicked all the asses
@@nicolitonicolas5918 i meant songwriting talent, Dead Kennedys are punk asf and they're talented
The guitarist for MV is so good he makes all other guitarist look small by comparison
Henry is the type to keep things old school to keep them punk genuine. Likely on purpose the VHS video quality so new kids can't easily claim any of what's NOT THEIRS. XD
The noise intro here was so delicious. And Blake Flemming is my favorite drummer for this song (too bad it didn’t worked out for him being their full-time drummer).
I never expected so much prog on the Henry Rollins show lol
If Santana played in King Crimson. That's how I always describe this band
8:20-9:15 is truly one of the coolest things I’ve ever heard. Cedric was dialed in.
That's really something else.
Such wonderful performances of this and "Day of the Baphomets", I wonder if some day we could get a better quality version of them.
wow!! Heihachi Mishima not only is a bad ass martial artist but also a phenomenal drummer!! bravo!!!
The difference in the newer live performances, aside from Jon not playing drums, as opposed to this one, boils down to dynamics. Pridgen is insane… Of course. But I feel like he’s all balls all the time and doesn’t care to lighten the load when necessary. After watching a few of these, it’s clear that chemistry is key to the dynamics Volta needs to sound like this 👆
This version needs to be remixed!!
Who is this drummer here???
Juan's bass playing is so fuckin good, holy shit. Definitely my top 5 favorite bassists of all time.
man i wish they would release hd versions of this
Sucks Blake ended up saying some racist shit or something he was good
Nah he can rest in piss
There has to be a better recoding of this :(. This is way too good.
I so wish I had the entire video of this night’s performance. It was IMO, their best live performance.
I feel like the out King Crimson'ed King Crimson here. Didn't think that was friggin possible
wow cedric is on fucking point for this one
Dude I just don't even fucking understand how Omar can play the way he does. The guy is such a beast and just totally fucking different. Like he learned to play on another planet
He’s said in a few interviews that he doesn’t like the sound or paradigm of guitar so he tries to make it sound like / plays it like different instruments.
Its the arpeggios right after the intro that blows my mind, like the control of dynamics you have to have to play those tricky riffs so soft then slowly bring in the attack.
I think this is probably Cedric's best vocal performance
apart from some of the early album versions (some of the Deloused and Frances-era vocals were pretty rad)
The only complaint i have is that the drums are not loud enough in the mix
Gotta love Blake's hair lol
HD quality, when? Please!
I miss this band with all my soul!
They’re baaaaack! Can’t wait to see them next week in Denver
@@blairhicks7129 i will to see them 5th november in Mexico City.
why didn't they keep this drummer?
I heard he went cuckoo for a bit then leave the band mid-tour. Maybe got a case of hitchhiker.
Damn, those high notes really go to my testicles!
Does Cedric use a pitch shifter up a whole step for his vocals? At high parts?
No, and I think you meant an octave rather than a whole step
@@kitpalmer1583 i meant a whole step because it sounds like it's just a little out of his range not a full octave. just wondering, it seems a little artificial at some parts (to me) but sounds can be deceiving :)
@@robingram1927 he’s using falsetto a lot on this one which helps extend his already impressive range
Que pinche feo canta ese vato..... ademas de feos... tocan del carajo... ese ruido es musica????
Los amo, lastima que ya no existen más
_the kiosk in my temporal lobe is shaped like Rosalyn Carter_
The worst line on this song, in my opinion.
this is the best live version at all.
Ive got a HD version of this on my od computer. Ill put it up when coronavirus ends
Why would you wait?
Did you upload it?
I'm stuck in Italy because of the lockdown. When I get back to Australia I'll get my harddrive out and do it. Don't worry I haven't forgotten
Don't forget to put the link when it happens
Guys it's coming dont worry. I'm trapped in Italy
i think what makes them such great musicians is their sense of timing. after sections of musical chaos, they all click at exactly the right time.
blake fleming did very well.
Where can I find the guitar tabs for this?
This is fucking epic. Also i way prefer this drummer over Pridgen. Way more dimensions to his drumming. Pridgen is one dimensional
An incredible performance. Blake really got this song.
agreed. This is definitely the best version of Tetra that I've ever heard - I must've watched this vid 50 or 60 times :)
protect Omar at all costs. and yeah that’s a rift you gotta walk with to play properly LOL
Ever since the departure of Jon Theodore, The Mars Volta has never been the same. They were perfect in this era
I remember an astute music critic comparing them to Crimson, and I thought to myself, "Yes!"
What's the best crimson album to get into?
@@jonnyoneleg Larks Tongues in Aspic or In The Court of The Crimson King.
@@jonnyoneleg Red
In The Court of the Crimson King (1969), Larks Tongue in Aspic (1973), Red (1974) and Discipline (1980) are all amazing.
@@jonnyoneleg What Declan Kelly said
Adrian and Omar playing in-sync is what I live for.
Too bad they hate each other now.
