I am attempting to fix a 1982 Porsche 928, which I bought it at an estate sale. It was not running and had been sitting for over 20 years in a garage.

1982 Porsche 928 find at an estate sale! I had to have it for this low price!
lol one of those days
Ah the old 928 saying…this is not as much fun as it seems 😂 I hear you! I got sick of fixing my sunroof so I harvested a slicktop from a donor car to weld on 😅
Can you do a video on replacing the AC compressor, power steering and alternator belts?
Do you still have your broken tank? I’m missing the metal insert on mine. If you have an extra one I’d like to buy it. LMK 👍
Already got rid of the old tank.
Good work. You’re getting there. 👍
Great idea! Thanks
Does yours also have a fuel injector relay in addition to a fuel pump relay? If so, jumper that one to see if that may be the issue.
Yes, it does. I’ll check that too!
Your info in these is really appreciated. How much time have you spent so far on restoring this Porsche?
I have had the car for a year, but it sat for 3 months…
Any updates?
Replace ANYTHING rubber, especially fuel related.
I've fixed my tank the same way, using the part from Roger at 928s R Us.....no leaks in 5 years so far..... you'll be fine 👍
Keep it up gd job!!
No such thing as a cheap 928. You’ll be into that $7k if you’re lucky
Already there!
@@928porsche you’ve bought $7k in parts already?
$5000 for the car and $2500 in parts.
@@928porsche you'll double what you've spent in parts easily if you get it completely sorted. All the rubber in the suspension needs replacing...any car in your condition needs $10k in just parts to not be a shitbox in my opinion
@@928porsche my euro 84 parts list is $35k
Awesome video 👍👍
928 international
If its not too personal how much did you pay for it?
I found a 84 with a 5 speed in the same way
sometimes the most oddball way is best"it aint a dumb or bad idea if it worked and no one lost an eye" lol "BUT DID YOU DIE!?"😂✌️
Lol. Still alive for now.
Promo>SM 😈
Smart kid!
Drain it like oil then check it with a light or magnet or whatever you can, if there was damage you should see metal
Another 82 in Brevard County!
Ahhh, but does yours run?
Of course, it has its quirks, but I've spent quite a bit of quality time on it. @@928porsche
Lol
I got those fuel hoses off the injectors with a sharp blade, but you have to be careful to not cut into that barbed fitting or yourself.
You need to replace everything in the fuel system or you’ll be chasing issues
I am replacing everything except the hard lines, which are in good shape.
😂😂😂😂😂 2 Porsche Man!!!
😂
😑
In my opinion, you should find a good used tank. They're anywhere from $250-$450. Even if you fix that tank you have...it will leak again, from my experience
You are probably right. I will have to look for one.
Lol
You've got a long expensive journey ahead and I wish you well, great vids keep em' coming I just got an '82 928 (4.5lt) my self, if you need any info give me a yell I also have adjustable shocks on back and non on front There are online service manuals, that go for about $30, been my bible to sort out my issues
Thanks!
Here’s my 928S UA-cam ua-cam.com/video/UP8ADI9vPUc/v-deo.htmlsi=MX13GMe_epp4H_rk
You will end up spending significantly more than $1000. I would say $3000 minimum to get the car back to decent running condition
I’d definitely invest in 928 Service manuals, very detailed info and procedures on everything.
Great idea!
Love the video keep up the hard work
I was thinking you gave up on the car. Long time without a video! Keep it up! Nice to share your project with the viewers
Thanks!
It's a long journey indeed. But hang in there. The list does get shorter...
Thanks for your support!
I guessed 'white powdery substance'.
LOL
Being in Florida for a while, was the underside rusted at all? Im buying one from Florida and wondering if the mosit air affects them or not
The car was in a garage less than a half mile from the ocean for over 30 years and has no rust.
My friend. First you should hose out the cooling system with plain water after you remove the thermostat .
Fuel lines, even the hard lines, must be totally replaced or you’ll be chasing CIS nightmares for the rest of your life 😅
So true, CIS has no tolerance for dirty fuel
True.
Thank goodness I don't have CIS!
@@928porsche all good, just replace everything 👍🏼 😂 then drive the snot out of them. They don’t like to sit
Someone was using improperly stored gas
Probably!
Too much coffee this morning?
Lol yup
LOL
pretty worthless autos seen these take 5 years sell $2k
Every piece of rubber in the engine bay must be replaced
Keep plugging away
Keep the videos coming. It looks intimidating but the 928 isn’t any more complicated than a Corvette. Looks like you’ll be fighting hack job electrical fixes
My uncle has given me very good advice over the years. One of which was to not own an audi or a porche after its warranty.
LOL-so true
Seems to have no coolant in the expansiontank?
Thanks.
