    I bought my sun conure at a well liked bird store in nj and they DNA tested her for 40 dollars so I know she's female . I also bought a jardine parrot which I gi3ss is a similar parrot from Africa looks alot like your Senegal anyway they also did the DNA that and he male . But by looks I don't think we could tell . Anyway I just wanted to know.

    I have a Senegal, and they don't just repeat words, they learn what the words mean. My girl asks for food, asks for cookie, and says bye bye when I leave. The long green vest is usually a female, shorter green usually a male. I think you have a female like mine.

    Which one is most sociable with everyone ? Maybe they’re both attach to their owner but I don’t want a possessive bird that may attack other person .thank you

    • @iamdoctorpapito
      @iamdoctorpapito 2 роки тому

      To be honest, the most sociable birds I have owned are my Sun Conures. If you can handle their noisy nature they are your best bet!! Both the Caiques and Sens do choose a favorite gender and definitely prefer the person dealing with them on a daily basis. Maybe Sens are a bit less sociable than Caiques.

    They will survive in Ontario but put some stakes around it with screen wire about two feet out and fill with sawdust. If the ground freezes the corm will die so wrap a heat tape around the root and plug it in.

    Not all are small like this. I've seen some almost 2 pounds! Glad you got to try some! The flavors vary greatly from mango,bananas, pineapple,coconut, cherimoya, caramel, butterscotch, burnt sugar and even durian!! The most amazing fruit is unknown to most Americans. They are related to soursop,sweetsop, sugar apple, Llama, custard apple and all the anonna fruits!

    I have a senegal and mine is so human… he laugh everytime i make jokes,, he mimic our conversations and so many words and daily sounds. He is very calm, we can leave him in his cage for weeks and he doesn't seem to get bored. I don't think we can do that with a caique. One of the reasons we went for senegal is because they are much cheaper .. we paid $600 when it was still a baby. (14 years ago) . The only downside of our senegal is that he doesn't let anyone except me pick him up.. he will bite your finger if it isn't me who is picking him up… my daughter would like to play with him but he doesn't want to be touched by anybody but me. I can do almost everything , i can even put my finger in his bec and it will never bite me. I wish he was more social.. he's a one man pet.. I also have a conure female also one man pet, which is insanely noisy, so noisy in fact that i gave her to my parents.. to thanks them for all the time they yelled at me in my childhood lol,. I had some encounters with a caique at the local exotic pet store.. i used to play with that caique on many many occasions.. i agree that they are very fun and funny. But oh my god they are freaking expensive up front. As of 2022, a baby caique goes for $2200 . The initial price is the main reason i couldn't afford a caique.

    I remember 17years ago when we got our Senegal and she had the solid dark eyes. The seller said he was a male, wrong, after DNA he was a SHE. And she can really scream LOUD! Our Senegal is on seed mix and wants nothing to do with pellets. Ours is always lose, other then if we are gone, and she love to travel and ride in the car. Also she can really bite if you do something that upsets her!
