It makes me think of the Mango tree appearance illusion in India, the secret passed down through families here and very rare to see it performed live. Even magicians in India don't know the secret.
How do you say this name 🤔 and btw Robert stole this name also like Houdini, from his wife, She was the granddaughter and daughter from French famous clockworkers named houdin.
Intensely interesting! 🤔 Considering that simple machinations coupled with slight of hand illusion could effect such wonder in the time period, imagine in modern times and all the marvelous tools available today for a magician! 🎩
That was fantastic for so many reasons, the imagination, the tinkering, the style, and I love the presentation that sort of transports me back to those days. I was in awe, and I can only imagine what it felt like to see it back then! Amazing!
I love this illusion it's my favorite of all time I wish there was some way to make the tree grow and then the oranges come oh that would be so cool to figure out a way to pick one of the oranges and throw it out in the crowd that would be so boss I love being a beginner magician
@@douglasoverholt1463 actually 4 of the oranges are real oranges so houndin would remove them and pass them off to the audience. only the top one is fake.
@@brushstrokes75 I am just learning about houndin he was amazing I have a magic book called Hoffman something I'm not around it right now but it it's amazing too oh I just love this orange tree I would give anything to see this trick being done and be one of the lucky guys who gets an orange I bet the orange would taste magical after being wonderfully mystified . I love Magic!
The real secret to this trick was how far ahead of its time it was. To think turn of the 19th century , to have something this complex in that small of an object when most people had never even seen anything mechanical in there life smaller then a train .
I’ve heard about this but didn’t think I’d see it (didn’t know if a working copy still existed!) So neat to see it and think about how the audience would have reacted back in the day! What a marvelous illusion!
Watch the movie illusionist, I think the people back in the day would have a similar feeling to the audience of that movie ^-^ great movie btw, brought me here cause I just had to see if it was based on a real trick
@@saki1333 yeah, the trick in the movie is pure CGI but the way it looks is the way people would have remembered it back then, as if it was sprouting and growing before their eyes. Piff the Magic Dragon did a joke video about the forward progress of technology and its effect on illusion where he recreated Copperfield's disappearing Statue of Liberty but with CGI, it's pretty funny to watch.
Thank you so much for uploading. This is amazing and so is Scott Pentose. BTW I didn’t know the story of Houdan and his connection to Houdini. Thank you for the education.
Unbelievable for it’s time. My dad was a member of the Magic Circle in the 1950s, and I recently applied for membership.
A magnificent invention
Beautiful
Fucking fantastic!

Thank you for posting this. Always wished to see the orange tree illusion.
That is Beautiful.
Brother Pete . .........
Incredible
Robert Houdin was a genius. And this funny English guy didn't say his name correctly !!!
How do you say this name 🤔 and btw Robert stole this name also like Houdini, from his wife, She was the granddaughter and daughter from French famous clockworkers named houdin.
It's really a shitty trick when you think about it...
Stunning! Thank you
so I know how the oranges work. but still how th3bring get in the orange!
He reminds of Numberphile
well whoever has the ring must be in on it.........case closed !!! and I'm a humble truck driver in Colorado.......
Beautiful illusion even today!
what an adorable trick!
Here because of the movie The Illusionist.

In the movie The Ilusionist, the trick was begun with a single orange seed. That's Hollywood. A little dramatic embellishment.

I remember watching the Paul Daniels show and he did this illusion, love it, to see it originally way back when must have been awe inspiring.

In the movie The Illusionist, they applied Hollywood magic and had it grow from a seed.
@@miksstudio I don't watch TV or movies I will have to check out The illusionist
