The GTX was called "The gentleman's hot rod." It was a loaded muscle car for a man who had a good job. The road runner was a stripped down GTX so it could be sold for less than 3,000 dollars so a young guy with a part time job could afford one. The road runner came with the 383 or the optional Hemi while the GTX came standard with the mighty 440 or Hemi. The roadrunner never came with a 440 until mid 69 when the 440 six pack engine came out. Then you could get a 440 six barrel in a road runner but the four barrel 440 was never available in a road runner. The 440 4 barrel was exclusive to the GTX.

I am converting my 1969 Super Bee from the 3 speed automatic to a 6 speed manual, can I get more information on your swap to make it fit. Currently I was considering a 6 speed tremec from Silver State but this is the first time I have heard about a Hell Cat transmission transplant.

Really impressive build. I almost thought it was a Monte Carlo when I first saw because of how much they shortened it and some of the other metal work.

While I love all domestic auto makers, I'd prefer a Pontiac engine in a Pontiac, a Ford engine in a Ford. They Coyote engine is no different than an LS etc. I'm sure it's fast, but I respect Big Cheif for competing with 57 year old technology) a 482 Pontiac with Edelbrock cylinder heads. But each to their own & I'm sure it's quick. Pontiac is limited on cylinder head, but still an easy engine to build, but isn't really great for much over 6500 RPM depending on CID and Port work as they're under-valved from the get-go.

Next time maybe hold a drawing and use all that money and time and make someone's muscle car dream come true. If you got that money and time, you just wasted it. All that for nothing. Now what? No one with a brain would want a car like that outside of being "odd". To each their own I say. I was just pointing out that the larger percentage of muscle car owners like myself (67 GTX Hemi) would never waste a dime, or time on something like this.

I remember seeing this car in the 90's at Norwalk. I was behind him at a Super Chevy event if I am remembering right, driving up to the staging lanes. If I remember right it had Hoosier Quick Time tires on it. I bought a set of the quick times to use on my car after seeing them work really good on this Pontiac. I am pretty sure I remember that license plate and thinking that is pretty cool! Great story, glad to see the driver and car are still around in the drag racing world.
