Shetland Fiddle Music - Tyunes play Booth Shot Lincoln set
Переглядів 2,5 тис.4 роки тому
This is 'Tyunes' last set from the Nesting recording sessions we did a couple of years ago. The first tune is 'Booth Shot Lincoln', a traditional American tune which apparently commemorates the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln by John Wilkes Booth in 1865. The second tune is 'Goodbye Liza Jane', a very well known standard particularly in Bluegrass circles, made famous by Bob Wills who...

Shetland Fiddle Music - Tyunes play Kentucky Waltz by Bill Monroe
Made it all of the way through this one for the first time today. My Mother's name was Norma and I loved her so dearly, she definitely deserved her own Waltz. I love you Mama
Oh, what clean and clear playing! Lovely, thank you! The tunes are great, of course...but I appreciate the playing especially!
I am a thirteenth generation American of English ancestry from North Carolina in the Appalachian Mountains. I was raised on this sound not knowing anything about it except it was my family playing the tunes. I'm grateful for them and for all of the great Scottish musicians who shared it with us all those many years ago.
Lovely tunes 👏👏👏👏
Thanks for listening. Glad you like them!🎵🎶😎
Can’t believe you’ve only got 44 likes. I love your music and your ability.
Lovely playing and listening! Please consider adding titles of the set tunes somewhere. I can make out "Going down to Cairo" and "Booth Shot Lincoln is obvious...but what else is there? I have the same issue with some of your other sets.
The tune names are in the description 😊
@twaasheds "Booth Shot Lincoln Set" doesn't list "Going down to Cairo", which I recognize, or the third tune, which I don't. Do you know the name of the third tune in that set?
The first tune is 'Booth Shot Lincoln', as you know it’s a traditional American tune which apparently commemorates the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln by John Wilkes Booth in 1865. The second tune is 'Goodbye Liza Jane', (it’s not ‘Going down to Cairo’), it’s a very well known standard particularly in Bluegrass circles, made famous by Bob Wills who had a hit with it in 1947. The last tune is a Shetland tune called ‘Robertsons Reel', written by the famous Shetland fiddler, composer & teacher Tom Anderson. All the tune info is in the descriptions with each of the videos, thanks for listening 😊
I FINALLY found the description! Thanks, @twaasheds for the pointer.
Great rendition! Unusual for the steel to be buried at the back and mostly out of sight!
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it, logistics & space constraints were the cause…….😊
Wow !!! great job. Love the vocals. A thumbs up and subscribe from me.. Keep Rockin.. I tried the song also if you'd care to take a listen, but I'm waaaay older LOL! Cheers !
thankyou, will give you a listen
@@twaasheds Thanks. Cheers !

Juist fun dis, brilliant, mind de at da foy.
Hello Peter! Long time no see! Wis just in Fetlar last week for a run.
I love how the bass player “feels” that fiddle! Beautiful version! Thank you. 🎻
Gee thanks for your comment, us bass players sometimes get overlooked so it’s nice to be recognised as part of the musical team😊
Beautiful and amazing playing
Thanks very much, glad you enjoyed it❤
Loved it...wouldn't be out of place in Nashville and it had this long time Hank Williams fan tapping his foot right along with the music...one of the major roots of country music is Celtic music so this is bringing it all back home..
❤thanks for the comments, would love to play in Nashville - would require some transatlantic travel😂
@twaasheds ...A video on UA-cam that might interest you is Hank Williams' grandson, Hank III, performing "Move It On Over " at the Native American Music Hall of Fame 1999 induction of Hank Williams.
YOU ARE DOING A WONDERFUL JOB I REALLY YOUR GROUP IVAN FROM ILLINOIS.
Love the precision of these players! Great sound!
Thanks a lot!❤
Amazing and thanks for the entertainment!😘
beautiful music a pleasure to listen to.
A great test for a great tune when one hears one well played. "Is it a toe tapper". Played here, Lynda"s Reel passes this simple test with gold stars
This fiddler is very precise, knows her music very well, has a very good sense of timing so her music flows freely. Her fiddling is pleasant to the ear and easy to listen to.I love these tunes.Of course the other players are great too. Together they are #1
Beautiful music, I like the fiddler
Excellent!
Very pretty picking and fiddling - thanks!
Absolutely love it.
Absolutely delightful
Even though I’m American by birth, myself and most of the rest of the folks who live in Appalachia have a special place in our heart for Scotland, Ireland, and their people. Y’all sound like the old timey mountain music we play here in East Tennessee. Bravo!
after the second jacobite rising in the 1800's, a lot of highlanders had nowhere to escape besides America.
Thanks for your comment, we have a great love of old time & the more modern bluegrass styles here in Shetland! We are all connected 😊
Very nice string band. Do you all also sing? It is said the Shetland style of fiddling has a similarity to Appalachian fiddle style not found in Scottish or Irish fiddling. Do you agree? In particular, this refers to the shuffle bowing, I think, not the selection of tunes. I'm in Gainesville, Florida and I play old time American fiddle music.
Awesome !! Love u Kenyy . x
👏👏🙂🇺🇸
I'd love to get this written down! It's so much better than the bare notes I can find, just great!
