CW POTA CRAB at Biscayne National Park
YL CW POTA at Biscayne National Park - any more YL activating POTA in CW out there?
My mast holder worked amazing during this activation. It was a really hot day. I do not know if I will be able to make a lot more activations during the summer due to the extreme hot weather.
I wonder how many YLs are activating POTA exclusively in CW. I do know of a few YLs who activates POTA in CW and they are amazing operators. We have to support each other since I do not hear many of them. I get excited when I meet one.
Do not be scared to activate! The only way to get over your fear is by doing it!

POTA at Everglades National Park and Frog Pond. #morsecode
Переглядів 10616 годин тому
After recovering from COVID I was able activate two parks in one day. Both parks are three minutes away from each other. Everglades National Park and Frog Pond Conservation Area. It is already really hot in South Florida so I have no idea how many more activations I will be able to tolerate with this horrendous heat. Thanks for watching

The mast holder that I had made came apart. I asked my husband to help me make another one. Please be careful while drilling, etc. I’m glad how it came out. I’ll test it in my next POTA outing. 73

I decided to activate Biscayne National Park but I forgot to spot myself before arriving to the park. I have extremely poor cellphone service and their WiFi is unreliable. I was trying to activate without getting spotted.
POTA at Everglades National Park - Morse Code

Activated Everglades National Park from my car using my 20 meter ham stick shark antenna. I made 28 contacts but I had to delete one of the contacts because I copied it incorrectly. Therefore I ended up making 27 contacts. I am not an advanced CW operator and I am not an experienced POTA activator. Actually I am not an experienced HAM. So if I can do an activation so can you! Thanks for watching!
POTA Mom during Support Your Parks Weekend
Переглядів 151Місяць тому
This is a short video of my POTA activation during Support Your Parks Weekend. I’m a wife and a mom. I decided to bring my children so they can enjoy the outdoors. This allowed me to take advantage of activating a park but having my kids around makes more hyper vigilant since I need to make sure they are safe. I only have 10 months learning CW and I encourage everyone to activate a park at leas...

Must have missed the crab in your vid. Saw the spider, truck, and red bird. 🤔 🦀 You could try wearing shorts to beat the heat. I know the bugs are probably bad. I saw your bug spray there. There's also Thermacell Mosquito Portable Repeller.

My battery died once in the middle of a QSO, and I didn't have an extra one. Fortunately, I had 12 contacts. Today, my cord for my key died. Fortunately, I had another one. But I forgot my rig expert.... usually it's some connector I don't have... Ah well. Live and learn.

I have had a few things go wrong. During one activation, the wind picked up and blew my vertical antenna over, which broke the top section off. At least I can still use the antenna on higher frequencies. My battery once died on me after 8 contacts. Now, I make sure to charge it more often and/or have my second battery with me. My portable/POTA equipment bin is almost completely separate and self contained from the home base station and stays that way. I can grab the bin and throw it in the car in case I have an opportunity to to an activation on my way home from work, and not need to remember to pull anything out of the base station to set up a portable station.

lol, rookie mistake, make a checklist... i think a "key" is pretty hard to forget.... right. Maybe the radio or antenna might have been even bigger mistake... hey , keep making videos, and never stop. IMO POTA , the greatest thing to happen to ham radio... I tried to buy that same paddle you use, but the guy was not willing to take any kind of payment other than paypal... I dont personally use paypal, because of their stand against Christianity, so I have went elsewhere to purchase a key. POTA on, NS9T!

I also like the Anker Soundcore Mini because when used with an AUX cable to the radio, the speaker doesn’t sleep the amplifier when there is “silence” on the line. Speakers that sleep make it really hard to copy CW because they cut off the first few elements.
