you dont really need the UCA for rckilla kit right? what are the specs on the wheel?
Does it add a lot of wind noise?
@@camerondixon9803 I only noticed an increase in wind noise at around 70 plus miles per hour. Other than that , not really
Nismo makes my autismo tingle.
Why didn't you install the 2 self tapping screws a the top like the directions say?
It’s been a while since I installed this, not sure which self tappers your talking about but it’s definitely possible I missed something
@@ApexFrontier yeah they go in the top corners on the bottom part.. you can probably see the 2 holes you missed if you look through the metal at the top. Oh well .I'm installing mine today. Some people had a hard time with the self tapping screws as they didn't go in very good.
@@1asian1phone I appreciate you pointing that out! It seems pretty secure without them and I’m sure I’ve lost those screws at this point but if it ever gets loose I’ll add some of my own tappers in there. Best of luck on the install!
Best way to do it, I wish I’d found your video before I hit that corner with a hammer to fit my 285’s 😂😂😂
I found you on imstagram,I just got the same truck and installed 285’s ,previous taco fanboy here! Not anymore love the frontier 😜 @frontierrock
@@Ramonperez590 oh noo 😬😅 well hey I’m sure it’s not that bad! All in the name of making them wheels fit! Thanks for watching!
It looks awesome but damn that hurts to have to cut it up....I'll bet the next generation Frontier will come with more user friendly wheel wells! Darn nice job on this three part series. Thanks!
@@Steveoreno yeah it hurt for sure but it got easier as it went on haha! But yeah hopefully they do, if you market a truck for off-roading you should probably at least make the wheel wells large enough to fit 33s! And thanks friend I appreciate that!
If you could do it again would you go with those same 0 offset wheels? I can’t decide what wheels to go with on mine. I want a little more aggressive stance but don’t know if it’s worth it.
@@camerondixon9803 yes I would. I think 0mm offset is a solid look. If anything, I may go wider but that would probably require me to trim more, and then you have to consider slinging more rocks and dirt up onto your paint job. But yeah I’m loving the 0mm offset!
You should get the Frontier decals for the front too. Truck looks good.
@@Blue-moon12 yeah I thought about it! And thanks 🙏
Really appreciate the extra details!!
@@whitesparrow4907 so glad i was able to be helpful! Hit me up if you ever have any questions I’d be happy to help
I had the same issues with the ADO rear leaf spring U-bolts, didn't know you had to drill out the factory brackets and then to find out the U-bolts still don't quite fit right. They should know that and fixit before the send kits out to people. seems a little hokey.
I have a 2020 Frontier crew 4x4…did you have any issues with the tires rubbing since you went from a 265 stock to 285 width? I was not aware of CBC “coil buckets contact” using levelers. I am having the RCKilla kit installed to resolve that issue. Thanks for sharing brother!
@@erwinfelix2239 thanks for asking, so it depends on the offset of your wheels, if you are keeping the stock wheels I believe they have a +35mm offset (might want to double check that to be sure) and the wheels I bought have a 0mm offset, meaning they stick out further away from the center of the vehicle than the stock wheels. That creates different geometry that results in more rubbing. I believe you would have slight rubbing with stock wheels, I had considerable rubbing and had to cut my pinch welds and heat up and move plastic liners to avoid rubbing with my 285s. It’s also good to keep in mind that different brand tires may say they are the same size but may be slightly smaller or bigger than other brands that claim the same size. Usually you can find exact measurements fairly easily. Also about the coil bucket contact, the best way to avoid it is getting upper control arms. I got the All Dogs Off-road upper control arms, they provide a wider clearance over stock and will allow your suspension to travel to full droop without having coil bucket contact. I love my 285s I’d say go for it, and don’t be afraid to do a little cutting / grinding / melting if you need too. Just paint over cut metal pieces to avoid rust. I have footage of what I did to fit mine if you wanna check out part 3! Best of luck and feel free to hit me up if you have any other questions, I’ll answer when I have time. I love to help out the community!
@@erwinfelix2239 that stock offset value is for the 3rd generation frontier, not sure what the second generation offset is
well i am getting to this vod late not sure if you cut your fender out yet but you can melt mod it and only trim just a bit of the fender flair i have the same size wheel although i have a titan swap. So you take a heat gun heat the inner fender use a 2x4 or maybe something smooth push the inner fender in twords the truck hold while cool or can use a squirt bottle with cold water to make it harden up fast. rinse repeat till you get it out of the way.
@@chrisunderhill8853 I did some of that towards the end of the video, I definitely needed to cut some of the pinch weld too, but I appreciate that! I have a new lift kit I’ll be installing soon so hang around for that!
@@chrisunderhill8853 I did that in part 3 actually

Nicely dooooone
How’d you end up putting the new spring onto the strut, you mentioned taking it to your buddy’s place but how’d that turn out overall?
I used a cheesy spring compressor off of Amazon at first. As I compressed the stock spring the spring compressor started to bend. I got concerned and decided to stop and get help from a buddy. He had a different style spring compressor but same concept. (Long bolt with hooks on each side , grabs the spring and compresses it as you tighten the bolt). We used 2 spring compressors, one on each side going a bit at a time to make sure one didn’t get ahead of the other one. Eventually you can remove the shock from the spring once it’s compressed enough. Then you compress the new spring enough to fit the shock into it. Be mindful about the alignment of our shock. You have to make sure it will mount back up the same way. It was a difficult ordeal for me and I will likely never buy suspension that isn’t already pre assembled ever again due to that part right there. I would have filmed it but we were literally concerned for our safety the whole time and it was too intense to try and film at that moment. Hope that helps, be really careful. Or honestly take it to a shop for that part. They have a much bigger tool set up that makes it easier and safer.
Thanks for the video - your install looks great! Infotainment protector was relatively easy. My instrument cluster didn't go on that well in spite of all the spray I used - it seemed to stick almost immediately! I am afraid I am going to have to take it off and try again - I have a 'smudge' on the right side over the speedometer and a couple small bubbles I couldn't work out. I am going to give it a day or two and see if clears up on its own.
LOL I knew you had adhd before you made a caption...

Ulex *deep voice
Nice truck and setup, I hear the RCKilla rides stiffer in a good way but is it bumpy on regular road imperfections? I love how smooth my Pro4x rides now but it def needs a lift.
Thanks 🙏 Yeah it’s stiffer for sure, not bad or anything but I will say in my honest opinion if you have the money, and of course depending on your goals, I’d go ahead and get a suspension system that’s pre assembled. I like the fox 2.0 extended travels (3” lift) and I’ve been checking out dobinsons IMS lift too. RC killa is good bang for your buck and better than spacers, but you don’t gain any travel since you re use your stock shocks and it’s also difficult to change the springs out if you don’t have the right tools. Quite dangerous in fact. So keep that in mind when considering the RC Killa lift. It has held up well in some difficult off-roading situations as well. Best of luck 🤞
@ApexFrontier I still have not gone offroad but do want a lift more for looks and rarely to do some minor offroad trails etc.. Thanks
@@ruffriding2k2 oh okay well it’s probably a good option for you then! Definitely cost effective! Just be careful with the springs in the front if you plan to do it yourself . The add a leaf isn’t hard , but use C clamps to hold the leafs together when you put the bolt on 🤘
@ApexFrontier thanks for the tips bro!
@@ruffriding2k2 you’re welcome bro! I’m happy to help!
Its not a D12 dozer.
Lack of driving skills that’s why they make all the extra gadgets on trucks now!
Hey you didn’t have to do any grinding or cutting away correct?
Check out part 3
Did this affect your Nissan warranty?
I don’t know haven’t been to the dealership since I bought it lol 😂 I’d assume it probably affects certain things, but I wouldn’t expect my engine to not be covered anymore and stuff like that
Can someone tell me how many inches this kit lifts the truck? I have seen two videos and neither mention it.
It lifts the front 2 inches and the rear 1.5 inches. I thought I mentioned it in the video but perhaps I didn’t. It’s mentioned in the description of the lift kit too if you go to all dogs off-road website. It doesn’t level it, it keeps a slight camber but it’s slightly more leveled than stock. With this lift plus the larger tires, my truck is overall 3 inches higher off the ground than it was stock. Stock tires are 31s, and I put 33s on, gives you 1 inch in lift
Did you have to grind the base to be able to fit the upper control arm?
No I didn’t need to grind anything to fit the UCAs. They went right in no problem.
@@ApexFrontier thanks a lot for your reply! I’m sent an email to ADO twice with that question and still haven’t receive a response. I need to order my suspension kit this week for an upcoming trip in April!
same truck (2024) and installed ADO Konz 82 lift. installed BFGK03 285/70/17, rubbed terribly. removed mud flaps, trimmed bottom of black fender guard, rubs occasionally on certain elevation and angle at the same time. Hate that. Looking into additional trim. Also wondering if I added 1/2” spacer up front if that would make a difference 🤷🏼♂️. If I knew it was going to be this much of an issue, might have considered 275/70’17. Using stock Pro4x premium wheels BTW. Any suggestions on the best way to remove the rub other than additional trimming?
Adding spacers would likely make it rub worse. The more negative your wheel offset the more it will rub. The fact that your running stock pro4x wheels should mean you shouldn’t have to trim quite as much as I did. But as far as I know the only way to prevent the rubbing is to either trim more, or lift more. I’d just trim more, you can also heat up the plastic and bend it / mold it. I did some of that towards the end of the video. I hope that helps and good luck! 👍
Just realized you might be talking about lift spacers, in that case it might help actually.
you guy dont have the LONG BED available in usa ,,, too bad they are VERY pretty
Oldie but Goldie banger of a song

this was super helpful! thank you!
I’m glad I could be helpful!!!
Just looked at mine, has some oil around it, the original breather. Is this normal? Time to replace? It seems to be working fine.
@@wonderliving8290 I am told the originals will "seep" a little in the beginning then shore up. I've also been told "if you dont see any on the ground, youre fine"
kinda looks like these racks delete the ability to easily move your tie down spots around
Not really there is still a good amount of room to move your tie points
You can loosen them slightly to slide them, or all the way, and a quick twist removes them from the utilitrac. I occasionally had to move mine around my tri-fold tonneau cover brackets at the front (cab) side of the bed, like his. I just picked up my new Pro 4X (had a 22 SV previously) and decided to keep the cleats and added them to the ones I got with the new Pro, giving me 6 now; two on each utilitrac. Saves me moving them… for the most part. 😂
@@ApexFrontierit might work with a roll up tonneau cover. I’m looking at the same things, which is why I’m here. 😂
@@k1sfd1974 yeah there’s a list of bed covers that supposedly work with this bed rack I have it somewhere deep in my phone 😂
Sick!
Bro dope looking truck! I’m in the market for one as I type this lol. Hey what is that you have on the bed? I’m new to the truck game
Hey man thanks! 🙏 first off your making a great choice, the frontier is badass! Also it’s a bed rack, which is great for putting over landing and camping gear on it and providing extra storage. I’ve got a video on me installing it, check out the rest of my channel! And reach out if you have any questions I’d be happy to help
@@ApexFrontier just watch it awesome that your able to take advantage and do all your modifications yourself! What do you think of the sports bar?
@@jonathanmariani5627 thanks! Yeah it’s fun, and saves money!!! I hope to help out the frontier community with my content and provide some entertainment! Are you talking about the sports bar that you can buy with the truck? I personally wouldn’t get it because I knew I wanted a bed rack. The bed rack has so much more utility
Can you show us a before and after the lift and tire install?
Yeah I can work on putting something out on that. I don’t have a lot of footage of the truck before the lift and tires but I’ll see what I can put together
How is the rub at full press and articulation?
It really only rubs on driver side, front tire, back of wheel well while turning left. It gets worse when pressed and also turning left. Going to end up trimming some more because it’s a little irritating but it’s not hurting anything, just a slight rub
A good job! Though it seems like you had to do more work trimming for 33's then one had to do on the last generation, but the previous generation required a 3" lift for 33's so it didn't rub off road. But it also looks like major surgery for 35's with a taller lift just like the last gen
Yeah it took some work, 33s aren’t even that big, I figured it wouldn’t have taken that much with a 2 inch lift and considering the stock tires are 31s, but hey it is what it is! Looking back, I could have used a mallet and laid the pinch weld over instead of cutting it and got more clearance. Also the wider offset was a factor too. I think if I kept the stock offset, 33s would have fit a little easier , but that’s no fun 😋
Just turned it into trash
By that logic nearly every Frontier with aftermarket wheels and tires is trash 😅 Stay mad hater 😜
@@ApexFrontier they should have bought a bigger truck and yes when you start cutting it up I see it as junk not mad at it or hate it just can’t see myself doing it
@@kurtgreen1040 fair enough if you can’t see yourself doing it, but everyone’s different, I love my frontier and in order to have badass wheels with a wider stance you have no choice but to do some cutting and grinding. I did it in a way that looks almost stock and doesn’t compromise the integrity of the pinch weld, to me it’s not trash at all, but everyone’s entitled to their opinion! 🤷♂️😁
Also if we can get the 2.3d twin turbo engine please Nissan
Ehh I like the naturally aspirated V6! It’s under stressed and more reliable! The 2.3 tt does have good power and torque though!
Does the truck look leveled after installing the rear leaf springs and front springs ?
It still has a slight tilt, the rear being slightly higher than the front but it’s closer to level than stock by a half inch.
Got another question? I don’t want to add a leveling kit from rough country or the nismo. I was thinking of just adding the front spring only like you added. Would I need to replace the upper control arm as well? I’m not thinking of changing my wheels or stock tires anytime soon. Just want the front end to look a bit higher than the rear.
@@tonyj9502 so spacers create an extra 2 inches of lift by adding space between the top of your shock and the coil bucket. The RC killa springs create 2 inches by being 2 inches longer in total over the stock springs. But if you think about it, the geometry of your suspension has essentially undergone the same change, and I believe will present the same coil bucket contact issue unless you get aftermarket UCAs that provide clearance at full droop. Now, I believe it depends on what your goals are with your truck. Will you be doing off roading? Or are you mostly driving on the streets and just want a nice leveled look for the truck? I’d say if you’re off roading you may want to consider getting aftermarket UCAs, if not than I wouldn’t worry too much about the coil bucket contact, it will only happen when hitting speed bumps at higher speeds, pot holes, etc. Another thing to consider is the spacers don’t change the force of the springs ability to rebound but the RC killa springs make your suspension rebound with much more force, and when your suspension rebounds and goes to full droop is when you will have coil bucket contact, so I think if your just going for the leveled look and mostly driving on the street , a spacer might be better honestly, because the RC killa spring is gonna launch that wheel to full droop in any conditions where there’s no weight on the front wheels. TLDR: if off roading get Upper control arms If not , just get spacers and stock UCA

My wheels and tires are in. Had to settle for Black Rhino Sentinel wheels as the Rapid and Chambers had a 8 week wait time. Just waiting on the Nismo leveling kit to come in any day now. My truck is the same color and I love it. Just drove from Scottsdale to Cedar City, Utah and back 4 days ago. God bless. 🎉
Awesome! This color is the best imho! Cheers!
@@ApexFrontier Yes it is.
So how did you end up compressing your springs?
With a cheesy spring compressor from auto zone . I didn’t film it because I was so focused on not dying. Definitely don’t recommend doing that. Get pre assembled coil overs or own a legitimate spring compressor. That thing felt like arming and disarming and IED.
@@ApexFrontier lmao.
@@1393floyd yeah it was not fun! 😂
Makes me just want to go with a spacer lift and put up with the coil bucket contact.
@@1393floyd you can get spacers and aftermarket upper control arms to avoid coil bucket contact if you want to go that route. Personally I’d say if you can afford it, go with a suspension lift, and buy pre assembled coil overs. Koni lift kit is nice, fox 2.0 extended travel, dobinsons, all good lifts just gotta fork out more money 💰
