Jefferson Nickel Album
In this video I take a look at a Whiman Nickel Album. I purchased this album years ago and the album is complete. With 72 nickels in it. The nickels are low grade and not worth much other than the 35% Silver war nickels. Maybe 1 or 2 of these nickels have full steps. When I bought I was glad at the time a get a full complete set of Jefferson nickels. Since then I have desired better condition nickels. I paid $30.00 for this set. This low grade set is still worth maybe $50.00-$75.00 now. I like collecting Jefferson nickels.

The 1932 p, d, & s Quarters

I am talking about the beginning of the Washington Quarter in 1932 to commemorate the birthday of our first president of the USA. The D & S are the key dates of this series, and both coins are rare. The d quarter had 436,800 minted and the s quarter had 408,000 minted. Both of these quarters are rare in all grades, and many collectors would love to own both of these key dates. I know that getting older is the goal in life, but it comes with a cost. I know too when I've had problems, I am incredibly grateful to those I've met in the medical field that seem to understand you just don't feel good. And it takes a special person to do this job.

A message that forces us to be thoughtful of those things to be grateful for - thank you, and thank you to those that work hard, too often without notice, too often with little gain. Among those are farmers. I will say farming for kids, who don't have to worry about the budget, weather, or harvest, is a life to be envious of. I grew up on a small farm that sold a little at auction, but mostly sustained itself, and I can say I miss the work and smells that filled the day. It's a good life.

Since your last video that challenged Seniors to find a hobby I've given it some thought, and I believe next summer I am going to visit covered bridges in the area. Something I've thought about for a couple of years, and it allows me to drive my convertible which I like to do. Of course the other advantage is being able to climb down into the creek/river/raven which I like as well. Nice collection you've assembled! The sombreros are especially neat!

I have to admit, even though you covered it recently, I had to look up what full step meant. You wouldn't think the features of a coin could be altered so easily by handling, but there is proof of that in every coin.

Interesting topic. Interesting in that it makes us examine our life and the choices we've made. Of course we have all made the wrong choice at one time, but that doesn't mean their outcomes are necessarily harmful. It is up to us to shape the outcome of our poor choices. It's the regrets that darken my skies, and they seem to focus on relations with others... how I could have done more. Thanks for the topic - it's a good one.

I don't disagree with you, but I don't disagree with anyone's choice in how they become closer to God... if they do at all. I check my silver with a Neodymium magnet, weighing, and using an App on my phone that checks the pinging sound. I like the magnet test the best, as its easy to carry and is a very quick way to check. Fortunately I've only got burned once. I didn't do my due diligence on an item that said it was silver, but I didn't check google on that and bought with only 15 seconds left in the auction. Six months later (this was in my early days of stacking) I did some checking and found out it wasn't silver. Out 25 bucks...like you said, not bad cost on education

A Proof Nickel pretty neat on its own. You expect to see proof quarters, halves, and dollars, but I'd never expect a proof nickel unless it came in a coin set.

Hi Stax! The proof coins come in a package set from the US Gov Mint. Some collectors receiving them open them and separate the coins for different reasons, and that is how we get them separated from original packaging. Proof Mint Sets have been around for many years, with different denomination coins making up these sets. Somebody took this nickel I am reviewing from a proof mint set, but you already knew all of this and I am just repeating what you already knew. Thanks for listening anyway.

@@seniorsperspectivewithatwist I knew about the mint sets, but didn't know that's how the proofs began life. Good to know - thanks for filling me in

Those are neat looking coins, and add to a collection... just for their eye appeal. I bought a gold plated Kennedy for melt and a small premium a few years ago. I knew it wasn't solid gold, and it doesn't have near the luster your coins do, but there is something still very interesting about it. I didn't know if the Mint did this, but it sounds like they probably didn't.

could possibly be an earlier year nickel struck with 1967. but to me it looks like a window then a mint mark.

Thanks for watching the video. Not sure what is going with this coin but it does look like a "D" mint mark, and nickels 65-67 had none.

  • @Stax-ht9md

That looks like a D to me. So I pulled up an example of a nickle prior to 1965, and that's the correct location. The 1969 mint mark is on the obverse. That more or less puts the years of the design into perspective...so there's a mystery here. How could the mint strike the reverse between 1938 to 1964, but not the obverse till 1967? Interesting.

Hi Stax! Sorry just now replying back. I will hang on to this nickel and possibly send it somewhere to be looked at in the future. Thanks for watching the video Stax.

That 1942 double strike is one of the best examples I've seen. All those coins look to be MS quality... nice collection

I didn't know they minted those presidential coins. Being a fan of President Nixon (yes, I'm that one guy) makes it all the more interesting. I would think missing 8 digits would put it in a class of its own.

Hi Stax! Thanks for watching the video. I agree with you on missing more than one digit you would think that makes a difference. I like looking at all those missing numbers on that coin, it shows the Mint made an error.
