Nice Solar Project 👍, a few mini- solar power tips: 1.) So the solar self-consumption of the balcony power plant is screwed up and you save 30...45 cents/kilowatt hour. The €10 dimmer is all about the money saved to save a lot on electricity costs because the electricity meter stops if you do it right: ua-cam.com/video/eC2olbCBhh0/v-deo.html . The avoidance of electricity from the grid will greatly reduce the amortization period and even the cheapest PV system can be built without a battery. With Dimmer + Solar PV, self-sufficiency can now increase to almost 95%. That's how easy it is to suppress expensive grid purchases. The electricity bill stops just like the electricity meter. ua-cam.com/video/D9Ss0RuqZG0/v-deo.html Kettle: Without a dimmer, the 2500W - 600W PV system needs = 1900W, which you have to pay more for. If I turn the kettle down to 600W with a dimmer, then every PV system that is too weak can now supply each consumer independently and independently, because the 2500W kettle becomes a 600W kettle thanks to the dimmer. No magic, just physics. The prerequisite is that you have at least one small solar PV balcony power plant. You don't need an expensive battery. ua-cam.com/video/azDjqZpz77U/v-deo.html The 2000W e-heater becomes a 500W e-heater via a dimmer, which can run 12 hours a day free of charge via PV with me. It is not the solar systems that have to grow, but the peak currents of the integrated device heaters simply have to drop by 75%. With the dimmer / voltage controller it has become so easy. I have already switched my entire household (2020) to 4x dimmers. Please have a look at my channel. 🌞 ... Increase mini PV solar self-sufficiency (winter and camping): You can continuously regulate a boiler and other power-hungry consumers with the "5000W dimmer". Ebay €7. I run 4 dimmers in parallel on an 850W inverter. Kettle 2.2KW at 150W runs 12 hours a day, so the water is always hot. The room is also nicely heated. 2.5KW washing machine runs in parallel with dimmed to 400...600W and always reaches its 60°C, and also its 1400rpm... It doesn't matter to the washing machine whether it changes the washing temperature to 5min@2500W or 100% can be achieved free of charge via existing PV power in 20min@600W. The wash cycle lasts the same time dimmed and non-dimmed, 3Sth 10min. The iron ua-cam.com/video/-71oL7z1kMU/v-deo.html , dishwasher ua-cam.com/video/8vnAkrS1x-s/v-deo.html , oven , electric heater, ua-cam.com/video/QbLWDbJi6ew/v-deo.html , waffle iron youtube.com /shorts/ofanZCdYEjA?feature=share , coffee machine, all internal heating is throttled with me. Lots of videos on my channel. The inverter stays cool and quiet and the MOSFETs + (battery packs) stay intact because extreme total currents no longer arrive at the inverter. Now every Mini PV Inverter is enough to operate large devices. So, with the dimmer, all internal heaters/devices can be converted into base load devices that stay almost permanently ON, drawing very little current directly from the PV. With a wattmeter / energy cost meter you can then measure this perfectly in order to set the dimmer optimally. .... 🌞 .... "smart energy saving", made a meaningful reaction explanation video about the dimmer: ua-cam.com/video/EHtJGiXAjZk/v-deo.html . 🌞... 2.) A "split air conditioning system" is a mini heat pump for heating and cooling and costs only 400€ in total at net or ua-cam.com/video/wB8rq-D9PAQ/v-deo.html or https:/ /ua-cam.com/video/wo0cgRJcbsU/v-deo.html and everyone can DIY for free because it's so quick and easy. 800Wp solar/balcony power plant costs 499€ at net, 2-3 of them provide free solar power for the mini heat pumps / split air conditioning system (up to -15°C). In winter, when it is extremely cold, you can continue to use your old gas heating normally for a short time. The efficiency of the heat pump is 300-580%, since the "cop" is 3...5.8, which is why it is so superior to all technologies, because 1kW/h of solar power turns into 5.8kW/h of heat. A marvel of technology, and the efficiency winner. A large heat pump costs €3000-5000 ua-cam.com/video/_ovT0G5v-Z8/v-deo.html DIY, which usually runs free of charge from the solar roof €5000 DIY. When it gets really cold, you can bridge these days with your old gas heater. In winter, more electricity comes from neighboring countries, but that's not a problem because of the interconnected grid. Hydrogen has an efficiency of max. 20%, against 580% heat pump. The heat pump is absolutely superior, and you can leave everything as it is with the old gas-oil heating system, you don't have to change anything... Explanation: Efficiency and "COP" with a heat pump: ua-cam.com/video/E3NUW0L8_cg/v-deo.html . E-cars, heat pumps, power plants ua-cam.com/video/CLFLFX0OWNM/v-deo.html . 1.) This was nice. I'm glad you mentioned the little errors that went along with it. If you do it again with small panels next to each other, maybe try building a frame on the underside of the panels on which you can mount them together first and then mount the entire thing as one big panel. This will require another pair of hands and it may not sit as flat to the side as you'd like, though.

I checked into some of your suggestions. The combiner box that I have here is not exposed to any elements as it is inside of an enclosed trailer so I do not think that I need the glands exiting the combiner box. I do have a surge protector that I could install but as all of the wires from the panels to the box are less than 10m I think if lightning hits the trailer I would have other problems then protecting my equipment. For me to properly ground the system, I would have to run a lightning rod to the ground of wherever I have the trailer parked as this trailer moves quite frequently, I do not find that to be very convenient for my application.
