What octave do you need for the tritone?
You define the feelings of Laufey’s music so well, spot on
@@Ralphpp THANK YOU ❤️❤️
You may also be interested in Bill Bailey, another piano-playing comedian. Particularly his special, "Bill Bailey's Remarkable Guide to the Orchestra" where he performs some of his old material with a full orchestra, and some new material designed specifically for the orchestra. He does a lot of material which is sort of observational comedy about music itself. And of course, you have to check out Bo Burnham, who is almost certainly inspired by Tim Minchin. He's not on Minchin's level on the keys, but definitely on his level when it comes to the use of words to create comedy with thoughtfulness and wit. In fact, Tim Minchin has a song called "Beauty (Is a Harlot)", and Burnham seems to reference that song in his song "#Deep", and then when Burnham released his special "Inside" during the pandemic, Tim Minchin saw it and found it really inspiring, and uploaded a performance of "Beauty" that he recorded in his home after watching Burnham's special, as a way of telling Burnham that he had genuinely achieved beauty with that special. Bo Burnham's work is an experience, especially if you view it as a whole, starting with his early UA-cam videos and then going through his 4 specials in order, and the bonus material he released for the last one, which nearly amounts to a fifth special in itself.
Thanks for the suggestions!
I'm pretty sure every black person with a reaction channel on UA-cam gets recommended this song at some point. People love that moment of "Ok, where is he going with this?..."
Happy belated Birthday, J🎂🎉❤. Hope you enjoy the 🍰. We really Love you and your UA-cam channel

Absolute torture
Yep, another gotcha song by the master of the art. Anyone who's been a parent can attest that thoughts like these do go through their head when they have a string of sleepless nights from a crying baby. I don't think they really want to go through what Lindy Chamberlain did when a dingo did take her baby from the tent when they were camping in the Australian outback, though. I love the bit where the music gets more and more frantic and insane. The orchestra is flying, too, which adds to the moment. You can just imagine the frustrations rise as the parent gets more anxious. And then the sudden silence as the baby drops off to sleep. The relief is palpable. He's a bloody genius.

Hi There are different phases of Tim to go through but one you must do is "Play It Safe" which he did a few months ago for the 50th anniversary of the Sydney Opera House. As a bonus you can see what he looks like today 🙂

ua-cam.com/video/Q05d_mX5hwU/v-deo.htmlsi=ajEcp_UbW-wY8kWb i don't know if you've ever seen this but. this is the only north korean rock song preformed by some teenagers in a music school. a japanese drummer came and was allowed to teach them rock. a really crazy story and a actual BANGER. idk thought you might like it. shits wild. really sad because you see some of the kids being skeptical at first and then light up seeing him play, but you also know they'll never be able to play like that again when he leaves.

That's honestly a really good question.

My wife and I were lucky enough to see Tim live in NYC in 2016. Truly one of the best memories of our lives 😊 (He killed the lights and played HALLELUJAH as one of his encores!)

4:02 if you think that'd be scary at night you should react to alex terribles low growls... also, I've hit a c7 on my youtube channel. a video from 2019 and one from 2020 and much cleaner and projected. I haven't uploaded any more recent videos on whistle stuff but its fun to practice and it's more of a party trick i've hit an E7 bit that was with an inhale. so I don't really count it. I've improved as a vocalist since then too. so approaching these ranges and sounds is much more comfortable and easier now then when I started attempting it back then. also, you gained a new sub :)
Most of what he does is not considered real vocal techniques. When he does low notes, he uses a vocal fry (a vocal register below your chest voice that is just growling out notes). His high notes are him just compressing his vocal cords to squeak out notes. Ngl, it's pretty fun and kind of easy to do. My highest with the squeaks I've gotten is a G7 while my lowest vocal fry is like a C-1 (that might not be accurate though, since it's just very slow vibrations and doesn't actually have much of a tone to it). I've only seen Bass singers really acknowledge vocal fry register with the world record lowest note is a G-7 from Tim Storms. The highest note recorded is a whistle register G10 by Georgia Brown (I'm pretty sure it's not the same as the squeaks coming out of Ivan Dorin, but the whistle register is kind of mysterious since so few people seem to be able utilize it in any way).
@man_of_yeet4209 Great insight! thanks!
next is ‘pain’ by pinkpantheress…
My favorite is his performance at his 80th birthday with the amazing Michala Petri on recorder - how she gets through that I'll never quite comprehend!
When I recorded my Jazz album, I noticed that by using Major 7ths and variations of triads, and minor ninths within the same piece, the playback makes me think of even more derivatives of the arrangements. In other words, I hear tones and subtones within the same piece of music that I did not know were there when I first aid down the tracks. (These often lead to improvements in my choices of melody lines as I lay down solos on top of the rhythmic structure,) I was previously unaware that this had a legacy that was found in a totally different genre that is foundational to the music puzzle. Thank you for the enlightening video and your analysis.
Nice reaction! Dark Side is a must from Tim Minchin.
